@Greg:
Hey guys. Guess what? I was right. Called it in sometime during Season 2 or before 3.
You wanna know what the Island is? Here it is: (no bullshit check it out)

And there's a rumor going around that MiB did in fact have a name in the script but…I dunno the truth of it so I'll leave you to find the name on your own. ^_~
Start with episode 1 and work your way down.

Damn, well now it all makes sense.
@Robo:
Man, I was definitely in the "Esau" camp. I'm actually still wondering why they would name him Samuel when Esau works so much better. I am also in the camp of people who were a little disappointed, but I'm not gonna complain because I know that it's my poor comprehension and not the episode.
Am I the only person that really feels like watching all 6 seasons right now?
Well I'm going to wait and watch season 6 first I think. I'm going to end up rewatching the entire series in the near distant future, but for now I want to let the series end soak into me. I still can't get it off my mind… it's so powerful!
@Kaiolino:

I cried all the way through this segment.
Lost is gone.
I cried harder watching this the second time. God…
@Lordzeb:
i can't believe theres not more rage in here….i've been everywhere else soaking up the QQs over how this was the worst ending since BSG and i get here and you guys are like "THAT WAS WONDERFUL" claps..
i don't...understand...
Oh brother, what I don't understand is how the hell you people can not understand the greatness of this ending.
Instead of slapping us across the face and trying to offend non Christians by saying the light they are headed to is Heaven, they did it in a way so that any person of any religious view can interpret it in their own way. That is true brilliance. As for the unsolved mysteries, sometimes it's best left up to the viewer to solve them themselves. As others said, now we can go and rewatch the entire series and look at things from a much different angel. We may start answering questions that weren't touched on by doing that.
@Bucephalus:
I hate using this term, but the "real fans" were those who followed this series for the characters. Sure, the mysteries were a great component to the enjoyment factor, but the show's trash without the characters.
And character-wise, this was the best series finale of any show ever.
Also, WHY THE FUCK are people so stupid? There's so many blubbering imbeciles out there raping forums with posts like "THE ENDING DIDN'T MAKE SENSE; OMG THEY WERE DEAD ALONG???!?!?!! THE WRITERS SAID IT WOULDN'T BE PURGATORY OMG!!!"
Seriously, it wasn't that vague. Fuck, it was as clear as it could have been. It was NOT purgatory and they were NOT dead ever since the pilot.
Anyway, when's that series boxset out? Can't wait to get my hands on those extra 20 minutes w/ Walt footage.
Very well said. I applaud you.
So what exactly is supposed to be featured in these extra 20 minutes? I didn't hear about that until last night after it ended.
@Greg:
I simply can't imagine a more satisfying ending for the series.
Lost is literally the story of thee individuals through their entire lives. There are actually very few characters we didn't see as children and only a few empty spaces in their lives we've missed. It's precisely the same as 20th Century Boys in that it's less about the giant mysteries and more about the lives of these individuals. However, 20th Century Boys has a far less satisfying ending and LOST goes one step further by showing us where they might be headed after death.
What I didn't like. Seeing events transpire in the 'zone' while characters are not connected, such as the introduction where Christian's body is transported with no main characters around, feels…odd. It seems odd that events would unfold like that 'behind the scenes' so to speak. If it's THEIR place, then why/how are others involved? Okay, I've never been dead so it's not like I know the rules of the afterlife but still it's a bit strange.
At first I was upset that the afterlife felt a bit cheap (not the twist, the afterlife itself) in that they were accomplishing these amazing things but not while being alive. In that sense I felt ever so slightly betrayed until I realized just how important it made their sacrifices.
Charlie is dead and will remain dead.
Jin and Sun died and do not have a second chance.
Like Ben said, "Dead is dead."
And throughout this season and last I was watching feeling with certainty that any death would be undone but as it turns out, that clearly isn't the case. Jin and Sun's scene will be extremely difficult to watch again in this new light.
The most surprising event, Sawyer and Juliet reuniting AND ME TOTALLY BUYING IT.
They became lovers in the span of like…what? 1/3 of an episode? And when their memories rushed back it was incredible.
The....uh....'birth'...?.....of Aaron was remarkable. And on top of that Charlie coming back to Claire just then. Wow. Unfair.
It's funny. Since everyone has been strolling through the bamboo I was wondering, "Gee, it'd be cool if they left the shoe there." And until the moment I saw it, I thought Jack was going to attempt to get Hurley, Ben & Desmond off the island (thinking that the earlier #1 & #2 was a joke referrencing how short their time together was) but when I saw the shoe it all clicked and everything from that point was just, it was difficult to watch. Not in a bad way, but just knowing what was coming it was very sad but also calming in a way.
Then Vincent comes along so that he doesn't 'die alone'. And that's just. That's just perfect. I simply cannot imagine anything I would have liked to have seen more.
I woke up this morning and started thinking about everything and was crying just brushing my teeth. It's sad to have the show go but it was such a beautiful ending that there's nothing more I could ask for.
And now for the immaturity.
L-O-FUCKING-L at the haters.
My favorites are, "I liked it up until the last 15 minutes."
HAHAHAHAHAHA
They might as well say, "I HATE THAT MY PARENTS MADE ME GO TO TEMPLE/SUNDAY SCHOOL/SHRINE/ETC. I HATE YOU MOM AND DAD! STOP CONTROLLING MY LIFE!"
You can be a complete atheist and TOTALLY appreciate the show. The show is about an island that, as I called way back when, (I'm gonna dig up the goddamn post) is the source of life and in that sense, religion on our world. It's not about any one religion or even a deity. It's about what we've constructed to explain life and many of those elements may be found on the island.
I've yet to see any complaint that amounts to anything besides, "They didn't answer every question." (Most of which they have, if only indirectly) and, "I hate religion!"
Take a clue from someone as stubborn as Jack and learn to let go.
Easily.
Knowing the ending will give you a slightly different take on certain events in the final season. That's about it.
I'd say it directly answers 75% of the mysteries, indirectly answers 15% and leaves/forgets about 10%. Truth.
Your posts may be a little long winded, but your reviews couldn't be any more awesome. And I agree with everything you said.
Btw, I usually pay attention to things in this series, but I forget the significance of the shoe.
@DanialG:
I knew it a while back, but it was said on Kimmel last night.
$150 for a show that's 6 seasons long is a pretty good deal imo.
http://www.amazon.com/Lost-Complete-Collection-Naveen-Andrews/dp/B0036EH3WU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1274747696&sr=8-2
Though the complete collection that Kimmel announced looked like it had quite a few things in the collection.
Is this set supposed to have anything extra not featured in the other five seasons? Otherwise I'll just buy season six.
Oh there's this guy in the comments on the above link who rated it a one and claims all fans of LOST are stupid and have no life. And that the show sucks after season one and we wasted six years of our life. People are brilliant, aren't they?
@Bobby - Yeah, I totally recommend the series for you. Even if knowing the ending will change your perspective a bit, I'm sure you'll still find enjoyment in it. And knowing what will happen and seeing what happens are two completely different things.
