The S2V5-cover looks pretty cool… Though I'd like to point out that Luffy is missing the bandage on his left arm. Ah well, not like it really matters, they could have filled the entire cover with bad fanart and I would still buy the DVD.

I think someone needs to teach Funi's graphic designers about the rule of 3rds and parallel lines. From a designer stand point, that cover is pretty bad.
-
I'm going to predict that disc 1 will have Luffy and Vivi on the case, and disc 2 will have Croco.

I'm gonna agree with you but say that since we've gotten Early mock-covers in the past that have had major errors (Two Namis on S2V3, Completely different images for S1V1) it's Safe to say that MIGHT be a mock version, and the final might have different orientation… The images aren't bad, they're just aligned funny

I agree, things look very off.
In that aspect, Funimation's best work is still with Season Two, Second Voyage. It's so nice and symmetrical.

You know what would make the cover look right?
Reorder everyone and then throw Mr. Prince on there… -
Well, Mr. Prince makes everything right.
-
You know what would make the cover look right?
Reorder everyone and then throw Mr. Prince on there…Exactly. Best cover ever.
-
@Zach:
Though I'm a Mr. Prince/Sanji fan, the fact is that his absence doesn't bother me as much as the odd centering job. The DVD cover seems to take the eye to the right, and leaves space on the left far too open. Vivi's dress/cloak swoops right, and Crocodile takes up far more of the picture than Vivi does. It all looks a little odd, if you know what I mean.
I agree with the empty left side. Mr. Prince could've easily been put there, or Ms. All Sunday.
-

Reorder everyone and then throw Mr. Prince on there…But Mr. Prince IS there… behind the scenes

Cover needs more Nami.

Breaks Nami theme but cover is awesome as usual. I sure am glad toei is in charge of art :)

So I'm watching S23V now… Man, I forgot how cool Dr. Kureha is...
Also, suprised Linda Young didn't play Kureha... But I'm starting to think she doesn't voice act generally anymore.
-
GE Animation has a few new items.
Metal Keychains (Luffy, Chopper)
Cell Phone Charms (Luffy, Straw Hat Jolly Roger) -

Yeah, her and Stephanie Nadolny I've never seen outside of Dragon Ball/Z. Weird.
-
It's because there's far better talent to choose from. Those two–primarily--got into voice acting because they were either of friend of Watson (Nadolny) or family (John Burgmeir's mom) and ten years ago...FUNimation didn't have much of a talent pool.

At least we still have the epic Chris Sabat, Eric Vale, and Sonny Strait.
While I'll miss Nadolny…...I will always remember her as the voice of Kid Goku. Well, her and Masako Nosawa.:ninja:

It was John Burgmeir who landed a job at FUNi because of Linda Young, so it's the other way around. Young was primarily hired, because she sounds like an old lady and could therefore mimic Newman's Freeza.
And MetaMario, Linda Young was Genkai in YYH. She did an amazing job in that anime (much like the rest of the cast, really).

slaps forehead How could I forget her? On YYH Abridged, Lanipator helped me figure it out:
Kuwabara: Shut up, you Frieza bitch!
Genkai: At least I don't sound like a gay Vegeta!Good times.
Loving your new Michael Scott avatar.
-
I think Julie Mayfield was an amazing Kureha, if I say so myself.
-
Well Linda did VA Amazon during the Skypia dub.
-
Did she?! I totally missed her… Anyone got a YT clip?

Like the cover for Fifth Voyage but like others have said, the positioning of the characters is a little funky.

Now that we're getting so close to Alabasta, a question comes to my mind.
For Bon-Chan, in the Japanese version he was referred to as a "Ballerina" instead of a crossdresser because Toei objected to that for some reason (I think it has something to do with him being a walking stereotype, because Nami was allowed to call herself one later)
But in the Movie, he was able to call himself a Crossdresser again. FUNi did the movie first. Do you think they know about this? Do you think maybe we'll get "Crossdresser" in the dub or will they just stick with "Ballerina"?
Either way it's fine, Either FUNi stays accurate to the Anime, or they realize they have a chance to fix some Toei censorship and thusly be accurate to the Manga, I'm just wondering if you guys think they'd go the extra mile there.
-
As long as they don't use "Oh Come My Way" I'm fine.
-
I'm agreeing with Kaiolino. I would prefer crossdresser.

Well the funny thing about this whole thing is that Toei seemed to want to censor so much back then, but now they don't give a shit. Like Franky's nut-grabbing scene, Nami's transexual lie to Lola in Thriller Bark, and they seem to be hinting that all the Newkama stuff will be left in tact (though we're still not completely sure about that yet)
To answer your question, I'm sure they will probably figure this out during translation. But they may decide to try and stick accurate to the movie and use crossdresser instead. I would prefer that anyway, since I care more about things being accurate to the manga versus the anime in cases such as this. I do wish they had caught on to that Zoro cutting steal error in the Apis arc.
-
It seems Toei is focused on censoring violence more then sexual content.
They cut Sanji get stabbed in Thriller Bark (though I heard there was a string of knife murders in Japan and they wanted to be sensitive).
A lot of the blood was removed in Impel Down and Minotaurus club looks a lot less threatening.
I do wonder if they'll be consistent for Bon Clay's return and keep calling him a ballerina or they'll finally call him a Crossdresser. -

All the times rocks have been turned into tomatoes. I can only think of two though.
Conis trying to convince the citizens of Skypiea that they're doomed.
Some bratty kids throwing a rock at 8 year old Robin.I remember they put a filter over the scene with Arlong removing Zoro's bandages.
-
I hope they go with Crossdresser, but I won't argue if they go with ballerina, it's accurate too. I just wonder how you would keep in the Newkama pun when they get to it.
-
They'll find some way to alter the joke so that it would make more sense to American viewers.
Example: The Okama (Kama Kama no Mi) Joke= The Sicko (Sickle Sickle Fruit) Joke.
-
Well, the Pun in Japanese was complicated for Newkama.
Okama = Crossdresser
New Half (Nyuhaafu) = Transsexual
New + Kama = Newkama = NewcomerSo I don't know how they're gonna do this XD
-
Dammit, Oda! Why must you make such brilliantly complex puns that are near impossible to translate in English!? XP

Holy shit I just got that!
MIND BLOWN!
Really though that's going to be a tough one. I'm more worried about the puns in the Zoro and Kaku fight since that comes first.
-
I could see them sticking with "Newcomer", but I dunno.

Wow, I honestly had no idea this was a pun. Oda deserves yet another pat on the back for his brilliance.
FUNi has proven that they are good overall at handling puns so I'm not worried.
On a side note, I didn't realize how much has been censored so far in One Piece as far as violence goes, because the content shown still seems really violent. I didn;t read the manga yet for Skypiea so I didn't realize that tomato scene was actually a rock. I'm a bit surprised.
-
Toei's been toning things down occasionally, still. If you folks remember, Robin wasn't pinned down when she was licked by Absalom in the anime, and Impel Down seems waaaay toned down from how dark and "scary" it was depicted as in the manga, visual-wise.
And if the title in the preview is any indication, Bon Clay's a "Ballerina" in the dub.

The new cover is on rightstuf if you all know now. S2 S5

Zeff still managing to eat his leg after it was cut off earlier too. Doesn't even make any sense .
-
On a unrelated note, I just got S2V1 right now! HELL YEAH!
-
@Kairouseki:

That's one thing I'll never get.
Zeff cut off his own leg and ate it to survive, that makes sense when you're on an uncharted island and gave all your food to some brat you rescued.
But in the anime he sacrificed his leg to save Sanji, gave him all the food and… sat there doing nothing?Great now I'm starting to sound like a snob.
-
I could've sworn that he said he ate his leg anyway. Maybe it was just implied but it still doesn't make any sense.
-
I think Sanji said it, but Zeff never confirmed it.–
-
@Kairouseki:

Maybe he jumped in the ocean and retrieved his severed leg that sunk to the bottom. Yeah, cuz that does make a whole lot of sense right?

well i would assume they stay pretty true to anime. i mean they had a perfect chance to change the zoro cutting steel to just iron but stayed with anime on that. (or at least thats what i haerd, haven't gotten around to watching those episodes yet)
so i'm going to assume they say ballerina
-

But Funi used crossdresser in the movie…unless Toei used crossdresser in the movie too. I don't really remember.

Yeah, Toei did use the term "crossdresser" for Bon-chan in Movie 8. So yeah, I think Funi is just gonna stick strictly to the script and not make any "well needed" corrections" even to some of the filler contradictions…which is sad, but then again, doing that would be a double-edged sword because then the purists would say that they changed the script and blah blah blah. Oh well, for me, it won't deter from the entertainment.

Well keep in mind, in the manga they stayed on that island for 85 days (15 of those days were after Sanji discovered Zeff did that). In the anime it was only 2 weeks or so, so it's conceivable that Zeff just starved himself for that long
