    • RE: Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

      @J-Sack:

      That's a valid point. I do wonder how many continue to buy the Voyage sets when the Collection comes out so soon after…

      I still buy them, but I definitely won't feel too bad if FUNi decides to ultimately switch to collections only at some point. For me, I've already invested so much in these voyages and feel it'd be weird to suddenly switch over. And honestly, I'm not even watching the voyages when I get them them since the timeskip, since I've seen all of these episodes and read the manga already so it's more so just buying for collectors sake.

      @Sano:

      That's pretty much why I'm switching to the collection sets starting with Collection 28. Plus, I'm not a fan of the price hike of the voyage sets.

      I was thinking the same thing, but I think at this point for the constiency of my collection, I'm gonna stick with the voyages until FUNi just stops releasing them. I've been holding off on buying season 11 blu-rays because I've read and watched dressrosa multiple times anyways, so i should be able to get the voyages when they get on sale anyways.

      my set arrived today! Was so weird opening it up and seeing 2 discs inside each case, after years of it just being the dvd's. And I still like how FUNi kept the DVD packaging so the collections still look great.. Watched a bit of the first episode in the set and it's so great being able to finally watch this show in HD (and without any change in quality or lag because of streaming!)

      So the collections are getting the blu-rays also, happy for them. And I also disagree on the voyages being useless now, I was never just buying these sets for the dub. I was buying just to own the series in a phyiscal format. I'm glad the dub is getting faster though and I don't mind the digital reeases being so far ahead.

      It's interesting that FUNi is pricing the One Piece blu-ray/dvd hybrid the exact same as the normal dvd sets, especially when you look in comparison to how they price shows like fairy tail or black clover Those are usually priced for a lot more even though it's also the same blu-ray/dvd combo format. I like getting these sets cheap still and it's nice, they kept the packaging the same. I still need to get a new shelf because I ran out of room with season 10 voyage 1. Has everyone else started usin a second shelf for the series and movies/ovas?

      Just curious, how many of you collecting the voyages have their shelves filled already? I'm still behind on season 10 voyages, but between all the sets and the movies/ovas, it looks like I'm going to need to buy a new shelf finally.

      @Demon:

      Heads up everyone, Toei is about to

      .

      the best possible chance for FUNi to get Blu-ray rights is coming.

      Is blu-ray rights a seperate thing from owning home video rights? I didn't think they were seperate..

      @Zephray:

      Just do both like I do. Haha. I haven’t watched the DVDs I buy in years, outside of the commentary.

      And no, no physical release announced yet for Voyage Four.

      Smart idea haha, I think I will do just that and hope FUNI eventually starts blu-ray releases.

      so just to understand, there is no release date for the physical voyage 4 yet right? Glad to see they are teasing season 11.I honestly just bought a really nice, new 4K tv and still going back to these DVD releases are killing me, I'm tempted to just start streaming this show on FUNimation's app for better quality, but I'd hate to stop collecting after doing it for so long lol.
