Finished Metroid. The game was very difficult in the beginning but after acquiring the Ice Beam and the Varia, it wasn't that difficult. Even the Metroids weren't a problem to me after figuring out how to get them off Samus' head. Kraid was the most difficult boss in the game, Rildey was a joke after finding his blind spot. The "boss fight" against Mother brain was very annoying, though. I really liked the game and thanks to Demon Rin for the map, wouldn't have finished the game without it.
What are you Playing?

Gone Home. Didn't really like it as much. Every time I give this genre of game of chance, I'm always so ehhhh on it. Then agian, I sort of feel the same way about alot of minimalist "art" games that only focus on one aspect of a complete game. Sometimes it works really well depending on the aspect… but other times... I guess these kinds of games are made for people that don't have the time or patience to deal with aspects they don't really care for... Which is fine. It's just not my taste.
Aside that, I'm giving Touhou 8 a chance later tonight.
-

Yeah, it's a fun game, but the lack of Map in it always got me. Metroid: Zero Mission is a FAR better game. It's a remake of the first Metroid with Super Metroid design philosophy. There's a map in that, but it's only filled in as you progress, so it keeps some of the feeling of mystery while still helping through the back tracking moments, and the optional Map rooms allow you to automatically fill in portions of the map, but it STILL keeps secret areas hidden from you.
Glad you enjoyed it though, I recommend playing more in the Metroid series, as ALL The 2D Metroids are gold. I haven't gotten to any of the 3D games, but I hear they're all good (with the exception being Other M getting panned more than it's praised)
-
Played the Hunter for a few hours the last couple days. The hunt I just finished, I shot a deer in the intestines and then had to track it for almost 3 minutes until it finally died. Shame the game is F2P and you need to pay monthly to hunt anything other than mule deer and cottontail rabbits.

I started Wasteland 2 and am completely baffled that I got so easily into this game while I couldn't figure out how to get into Divinity Original Sin.
Have to take the time to really compare these 2 games and try to find out what works for me better in Wasteland compared to Divinity, -
Dayum…anyone else who just can´t wait any longer for the pre-sequel? I just watched a couple of Youtube videos and now...well, i was never so hyped!

Playing Borderlands 2 and loving the shit outta it . And Handsome Jack is fucking awesome .

Playing Borderlands 2 and loving the shit outta it . And Handsome Jack is fucking awesome .
Yeah, better i throw Destiny outa my window and go back to Borderlands 2 :D. Still have things to do, even after 800+ hours^^. My OP1 Krieg needs to get his ass to OP8 xD. Gaige is OP8 and it was a awesome grind.
Yeah, Handsome Jack is a funny villain. -
I finally remembered my UPlay account information and I'm back to playing FarCry 3 on the PC. Such an expansive world with a ton of side quests to do. So easy to get distracted, but I love it!
-
Playing Golden Sun again, never beat it the first time though (ten years ago…). Also more Destiny, Layton/Phoenix, and Tomb Raider.
This is before Smash takes over my life of course.
-
Playing through Resident Evil 4 for probably the 5th or 6th time, it's kind of weird to go through a game you kicked ass in plenty of times but because of the nature of the game constantly be forced to use recovery items and outright die half the time….and Saddler's still the douche he always was.
-
gone straight in for Smash Bros, and immediately lost to the second secret character…. I might be getting old.
-
Haven't you heard War in Super Smash Bros. Never Changes.
-
Finishing up the third Dark Souls 2 DLC.
Honestly didn't like it much. Level design was nice, but enemy placement is, as always with B-team, far too dense. Never the strategic layout of DS1's better levels; just giant mob after giant mob that you have to pick off slowly, one at a time, because they hit like trucks and will chase you for-seemingly-ever.
First boss was fun. Good learning curve, varied attacks. Second boss was just okay. Boring himself, but the setting and follower/helper-mechanic was fun. Farming 50 minion souls for the reward is bullshit.
Haven't made it to the challenge route boss yet. The blizzard and horse spawns are so tedious…Also, for anyone playing along- it's not enough to have all three crowns to get the final reward from Vendrick. You have to beat the three crown bosses in the same play cycle. Which sucks because I did Sinh on NG+5 and the other two on NG+6, which means it's time to do Sinh again... T_T

I don't think so haha. My avatar is of the album 3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul. It's easily my favorite pre-90's hip-hop album out there.

I finished up Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut about two weeks ago and really enjoyed the experience. I played mostly non-lethal, but did kill when it suited me (like during a certain situation in China). I started a New Game+ on "Give Me Deus Ex" (Hard) mode to pick up some achievements I missed, but I'll probably save that play-through for later.
I also finally unlocked the Gold Glider in Mario Kart 8, which means I can now race and do Time Trials without fretting about coins. It also means I can put the game aside until November, when the first batch of DLC releases.
And, lastly, today I got Super Smash Bros. as an early birthday present, so that's what'll be taking up my gaming time from now on, especially playing online against a lot of you over in the Smash threads. Fun times!

So post apocalyptic native American tribe having a feud over railways and praying to the railway god…. and I can try to solve this in a few different ways.
Damn I love Wasteland 2!
These kind of RPGs... I missed them. Also man every ability point has so much impact really hard to decide what to skill. Especially because the game is pretty challenging to boot or maybe I'm just really rusty.
Really looking forward to torment now which I backed. -
Maybe im a bit late but currently playing Metal Gear Rising : Revengeance. 2013's game >.<
And i loooove this game! Hack and slash in which you can vent your frustration by cutting the enemies into hundreds of small pieces, literally, on screen…omg just what i need now.
The game story mode can be finished around 4-6 hours estimated, so this game is ideal for anyone who cant spend too much time in gaming.
The main character and the enemies' main slogant is, i think, style and badassery, some even bring it to corny level imo.
If you play it on PC, i recommend you use a joystick, or your keyboard and mouse should be ready for some repeated stomping from your fingers.
So, in short, if you are looking for hack + slash + cutting your opponent to small pieces literally + fast paced action game + badass character with lots of style, this game is for you.
-
Finished Wasteland 2. It got a bit buggy towards the end, annoying but well I survived obsidian games nothing compared to that mess.
Loved the game. I found the world, the quests quite engrossing and once I got a hang on all the systems it was incredibly fun. There's very little hand holding which does bring back having to spend time trying to find things and solving quest since there's no arrow to show you the way.
Only quest descriptions which have been pretty functional although they were useless on a few quest too.Going to new towns was probably the best thing about this game. All the main towns harbor very different societies and trying to deal with their problems/navigate through their rules was pretty nice. Too bad the journey didn't last me over until DA:I, but it's entirely my fault for not being able to put the game down during the weekend and burning through bug chunks of it.

REVOLVER 360 RE:ACTOR
It's a shmup I put off for a while since I found its mechanics overwhelming, but I decided to sit with it and managed to get to stage 2. And boy, I was hooked! The music and intensity of the stage itself had me all super pumped and exited enough to constantly replay it in practice mode! The rotation mechanic really adds alot to what would be an otherwise really bland and generic STG. I was surprised with the numerous ways you can preplan and chain up alot of quick satisfying shots that's capable of blowing away hundreds of bullets and powerful enemy units, just by cleverly rotating the projectiile trajectories and enemy locations. My only gripe has to be how long it is. 4 stages is too short for a arcade shooter, and I feel it could have done with 7 stages in total.
Another shmup. I got a bit hooked to Touhou 8… even tho I think I'm growing a bit tired of the games in general. I don't really like the powerup system, and I don't like the scoring system of "grazing" bullets or seeing if you can survive bullet pattern phases without using bombs. I like the kind of shooters that actually rewards you for cleaverly making use of abilities given to your character or ship. Sort of like Crimzon Clover where saving bomb use to activate the powerful Break Mode actually adds more to score while giving you the ability to completely blaze through unfavorable bullet pattern phases qucikly, IF you are good enough(Break Mode kills bosses faster, but it also makes the boss faster in both movement and attack speed... so risk-reward). I unno... the games just don't seem deep mechanically enough, despite the really interesting aesthetics.
Speaking of. I think Reizen is my favorite boss in the game. She's a rabbit girl. So that's one thing. But her powers in concept are so neat! I'm sad that the later games seemed to have botched her design, and her fanbase... well. I don't even want to talk about the fanbase because I have nothing good to say about it.
Anyhoos. End of tangent. I'm getting a fightstick in the mail very soon, so I'd probally be relearning all my arcade shooters on it and maybe finally practice Skullgirls and play the new Persona Arena whenever I get it. If it all works out well, I think I found my second serious hobby :3

Got to play Chaos on Deponia part 2 through steam family sharing. Oh well it really was disappointing.
One silly puzzle I couldn't solve because I just didn't consider breaking the forth wall and Rufus is still the same jerk like in part one crossing questionable lines.
I don't know I thought it was funny at times in the first part but he was just so annoyingly stupid in part 2.! For one really you did that to the baby dolphins? Come one… Also him setting off the bomb and expecting that telling Goal the truth would count for something... you're still a petty asshole Rufus.
Yeah dude just didn't learn anything. I also felt the puzzles weren't as smart as in the first one? But not sure hard to quantify
Oh well not sure if part 3 is still worth it. I really was considering paying full price for both games but I'm glad I didn't will probably still get them from a sale if the price is right but man quite bummed how this turned out. -

Speaking of Deponia, I've had the complete journey wishlisted in Steam for months, and it's on sale today for $13.50

Finished Metroid Fusion. Really great game even though it was a little bit linear. Now I'll play Metroid II. I wanted to play Super Metroid first but I didn't have enough money to buy it. And after that, I want to play Metroid Pirme Triology. It'll be difficult to find that one, though…
-
Fusion's great. I remembergetting it with Prime for Christmas the year it came out. Pretty coolboss battles.
Right now just playing alittle bit of Animal Crossing New Leaf every day. Came back to mytown like a month ago after a year long break, and now I'm mainly just buyingstuff from the streetpass houses to add stuff to my catalog. Need toget back to designing the rest of my rooms in my house. I think I'm ok with about halfthe rooms right now.
Also started doing theColosseum battles in One Piece Unlimited World Red. Just trying tounlock everything.

Playing Strider 1 via Strider 2 for PSOne
- Arcade version with infinite continues
- Getting to stage 5 and having to put up with a lot of bullshit.

Ok wow… what the fuck, Deponia's(part 3) ending sucks ass in my opinion. Urgh... haha well the first game since ME3 that made me actively dislike the ending.
Didn't feel like they knew what to do with the story, really. Man I was prepared to be disappointed but not that much what a bummer. It hurts so much because it really does feel like squandered potential. -
Glad I'm not the only one who pretty much hated the ending.
-
Playing Destiny a lot lately.
My friend's been doing strikes with me and helping me increase my rep.I also want to play Hatred when it comes out.

Glad I'm not the only one who pretty much hated the ending.
! It really didn't help either that part 3 was the buggiest game out of the 3. 2 had some weird performance hiccups when loading the next animation but nothing really serious. Part 3 gave me weird pixel lines(between limbs which separated animation parts I assume) and it crashed 5 times towards the end always before loading a cutscene and for whatever reason it could never remember that I unchecked dev commentary in the menu so I didn't have that big additional interface element.
! As for Rufus dude was up until almost the end still a friggin asshole. When Bozo exploded on him I could only agree, seriously most of Deponia is entirely too nice. 3 Games in and Rufus is still selling people to organ performers and putting children into questionable situations. sigh It just wasn't funny anymore.
I don't even get what the Goal and Rufus relationship was about? I don't get why she loves him, not in the sense that there needs to be a logical reason for her but more because we weren't shown enough? Most of what we see between them is Goal being the victim of Rufus' "plans" and him trying to fix it.
There were very little relationship moments making that pairing more sensible to the audience in my opinion. And the ending itself, well seriously it just feels like "so we got to have an ending now but I don't know how to resolve anything, so how do we do this?","We just leave most of the stuff open and do something controversial so nobody notices that we didn't have a resolution to anything!"… Also the way they tied the tutorial thing into the main plot... not the worst but I'm also not a fan.
! Oh well still haven't really reflected on all of it entirely, but before I go to sleep I also want to leave with some positive things on part 3.
I thought the 3 Rufus mechanic was kind of interesting puzzle wise and in general I think I really liked most of part 3's puzzles unlike with part 2.
Also I chuckled at that pub puzzle with the reference. -
So I finished The Evil Within today. It was overall a cool experience, but some of the middle chapters were awful, in my opinion. Falling back solidly into the pure action genre with basically every enemy having a firearm or worse (yes it can get worse). And the problem is that even though RE4 kind of did this toward the end of the game, RE4 was totally designed around that kind of action gameplay where you fight off mobs. It's a lot more fluid, responsive, and balanced in terms of weapons and ammo. It doesn't work for me AT ALL in this game though. While better than something like the POS RE6, it's still kind of a confused mishmash of genre identity. I kind of tried to keep it minimalistic to keep my horror experience, which kinda worked. Except it meant I died a lot and really whored supplies (I finished with like 60+ trap parts and max ammo for a lot of weapons, even ones where I fully upgraded the stock capacity).
The story also wrapped up really crappily. Don't want to spoil but it was basically not explained and I can picture them doing the "let's reveal what's REALLY going on in DLC!" thing. Otherwise you're just left theorizing and it's not even that interesting.
I'm sort of thinking about doing NG+ for collectibles and some other interesting achievements but to be honest there are sections I don't want to replay, even with all my upgrades carrying over. And the rewards are crap. Maybe if infinite ammo were unlockable… but it's not.

So I finished The Evil Within today.
So not great, but do you think it's worth a $20 bargain bin purchase in a year or two?
Loved RE4/5/Revelations; hated 6, if that counts for anything.

I also really enjoyed RE4 and RE5. Maybe it's just a matter of expectations. In a game where you can hold very little ammo overall, have a sprint meter that's really short, and lots of things kill you very easily, it's annoying for it to suddenly turn into a huge brawl with waves of enemies coming at you with high-powered weaponry. I honestly would love to replay it if I didn't have to do around 3 of the 15 chapters. But I mean, personally I think it's worth the money even without it being a bargain bin item. It just doesn't live up to the hype of a new Mikami game that actually goes back to real survivor horror.
-
Hmm. I don't think I have the spare cash to pay full price at the moment, but I'll definitely keep it in mind.
Thanks :) -
You gotta love the character design of Terra Battle.
-
Finished Metroid II yesterday. Like all the other Metroid Games that I've played so far it was a good game even though I had to rely on a card again. The Spider Ball is a pretty nice new ability. I don't think I like the fact that Samus exterminated an entire race, though.
And my three Metroid Prime games arrived today. I started playing the first one today and I'm impressed. I didn't think that I would enjoy playing an ego-shooter so much.
-

Enjoy! 1 is easily the best of the trilogy, imo, but all three are great games in their own right.
-
After finally hitting chapter 4 in Growlanser I decided to jump into Senran Kagura: Shinobi Versus. Already starting to like it more than Burst.
-
Beat Guacamelee Super etcetra on hard mode and have moved on to Shantae and the Pirate's Curse.
Haven't gotten too far in but I like it so far. Not sure what to think about the Heart Squid Lady…
-
Sooo is anyone rocking the pre-sequel? Man, i can't understand the low ratings, i just have a blast with Nisha. She is so beastly-badass. Also, the story is pretty cool at the end. I am lv. 43 Lawbringer-Class. I am almost at that point to say that this is my fovourit Borderlands game. Can't wait for the DLC's.
-
Enjoying the heck out of Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. Way more than the second game too. The overworld puzzle logic so far has been exactly my kind of humor. You had to arouse this huge monster with the smell of ham for it to drool a waterfall that made a hot spring down below. Then a couple of these babes took a bath in it, hahaah! This somehow triggered some runes that gave you a spell to(accidently) petrify some dude that was mourning the loss of his petrified lover(he thought he was reversing the petrify spell on her), and since both the stoned bodies were so heavy, their weight caved the ground in and somehow revealed the entrance to the first dungeon. I think they both died, and all Shantae has to say is "whoops". I hope the game keeps up this silly humor. This whole sequence and the boobytrapped bathtub are neat highlights.
The dungeons seem to take a focus more on specific tools you find. While the Zelda-like approach is cool, I'm hoping there'd be some of the more environmental puzzles like the first game had. I feel like tool based dungeons in general have gotten a bit too predictable for me. Like I don't know how I feel about walking into a room, looking at something and saying "hey, it looks like I might need something with range to proceed here. I bet I'd find that item here using the paths that actually passable with my current abilities. Well wow. I did find it. I feel smart." This sort of design really worked when I was a kid, and I guess I sort of miss not knowing exactly what to do(this is why La-Mulana is so great now that I think of it).
Gonna post more thoughts on it later, but so far I'm really enjoying it. The sprite work is just amazing, and the music is nice too. And like I said, the humor is my cup of tea.
-
So no else is playing Terra Battle ? It's free! I wanted to brag about my team, saying that it's the best in the world. But there is no point if no one understand what I am talking about.
-
Started playing Neverwinter with a friend. Surprisingly good I must say. After deciding that Aion was not my kind of game (even after multiple tries/characters), I was skeptical about this one, but I was wrong.
Nice graphics (gotta love the colors and the environment, and the variety so far). It feel good to be able to hold your ground alone, but it's better if you have a friend. I'm playing as a Guardian and he's a Ranger. I'm tanking and disrupting while he's destroying every foe.
Another good thing is, the costumes don't look ridiculous. I don't know why, but I always hated most of the clothing/armor in Aion.
I'm looking forward to exploring more. I want to try out an Assasin as well, maybe a Mage. We'll see. Priest looks good too. -
Finishing up the Mighty Trilogy with Mighty Milky Way.
Of course, I still need to play Mighty Switch Force 2
-
Finished Shantae and the Pirate's Curse a few days ago 100% . I usually ignore collect x-things in these kinds of games, but given the difficulty of needing additional health(the game is kinda hard sometimes, tho it's mostly easy) and the world actually resonating with me.. I actually found everything. On my own! Like I said before, the humor is great. And there was even some serious plot threads that might be looked into deeper in the next game.
I also liked the pirate tool movesets over the transformations for some reason, and I'm curious to see how Wayforard pulls it off in the next game seeing as that feature is coming back. There are some little issues I've got with it, but nothing big. The upgrade system is systematically strange. Upgrading a weapon or attack increases the damage by 1 point each and the difference in barely noticable until you grind enough to get a number that's rounded by 5(all enemies have HP that's rounded by 5, and upgrades that gives you +1 damage is barely seen since the the default 5 or 10 damage kills enemies normally on its own). It's a werid nitpick I know, but it keeps annoying me that +1 upgrades even exist in the game. It feels out of place.
Aside that, I really enjoyed it. The price I feel is a bit high due to the current state of the indie market and the people that buy them (people that find it outrageous that a newly relased and well polished indie game is 15-20 dollars). It's also a solid 10 hours long casually. But I've paid more for games that gave me less(Journey), so. Game's great!
-
Finished Metroid Prime. Wow. What a great game, the bosses weren't too easy (well, except Metroid Prime's core and the Omega Pirate) and the soundtrack kicked ass. The most difficult boss for me was Meta Ridley after his wings were destroyed. The areas were beautiful, too. One thing that I hated were all the morph ball puzzles and the way to Metroid Prime in the Impact Crater because of the fucking Fission Metroids. In the end I got 80% of the items and 92% of the scans. Strangely, there was now music while I was fighting Prime's core for the last time.
Gonna start the second game tomorrow.

Though of course, it's going to be competing for my attention with Isaac: Rebirth, come Tuesday… -

And yes. Shantae is good fun.
