Marvel Movies Thread - Holy Shitballs

Well this movie technically has it's first trailer (after the Captain America movie), so I figured it was time to make a thread for this.

Anyway, from what I've seen (I can't say much because of possible spoilers)… :ninja:

... it's looking very good.

So since we can't talk about the trailer too much yet, let's talk characters!

To my count so far we have:

Captain America
Iron Man
Thor
Hulk
Nick Fury
Black Widow
Hawkeye
and
Agent Coulson (if you want to include him too.)

(There are a few more that I know of but can't mention them at the moment because of spoilers and plot)

So any thoughts on current roster? who else do you want to see?

I think it's a great roster and I can't wait to see what Whedon has planned for them.

It'd be awesome if Spider-man was also in the team.

He was for a short period time in the comics. However like Wolverine; There only really on the team when they go up against a villan that threatens the entire world.

I never liked Spidey (or Wolverine for that matter) on the Avengers. He just feels out of place.

Janet and Hank would've been nice, though I understand why they didn't use them.

That's probably because it's so…weird to see Wolverine be with another group besides the X-man. An Spiderman is like the Batman of the marvel universe. He's solo all the time until they need him. Plus as of now he has his own personal shit to deal with.

Agreed. It feels weird without Antman and Wasp. I mean not only were they on the founding team of Avengers in the regular Marvel Universe, but even in the Ultimate Universe. They're really the only two other members I like to see. Characters like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch would also technically qualify historically too like Hawkeye, but we won't see the two of them because they're Magneto's kids, we can blame Fox for that one. Who knows, though unlikely, hopefully we'll get a surprise with Wasp and Antman.

Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver might not have been part of the deal Marvel made with Fox. Cable, for example, is still owned by Marvel because he's not recognised as an X-Man. Though these characters can't be recognised as mutants obviously or the children of Magneto and Cyclops.

The roster looks good. I wonder how they'll handle the Hulk.

Could be good, we'll see what happens. I more want to see what direction the movies go in post-Avengers with this being the last of the Paramount deal but at least we're at the climax of everything that's been around since Iron Man.

Heck, at least we had Tony make a stab at Thor in the trailer.

You got the Cosmic Cube which Loki is gonna be after and so will Thanos I'm assuming since they said he will appear.

I don't hate the movies, but I still think a bald nick fury looks stupid. This Nick Fury doesn't look like he's capable of doing anything other than giving orders IMO.

I wonder if they'll have fury bots in this movie, I would laugh hard if we get several "death" scenes only to find out it's not really him. I'm also praying for a Black Panther cameo, and some Captain America speeches. Hopefully they don't let Tony take the spotlight.

Oh.. and those Posters connect BTW… it goes Black Widow, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Fury and tools #1 and #2.

Everyone except for Bruce Banner is played by the same person who played them in their respective movies. Banner is played by Mark Ruffalo instead of Edward Norton, for some undisclosed reason.

Because Edward Norton acted like a diva throughout the entirety of TIH's filming and wanted to rewrite almost every scene. Sure it made that film better, but also caused more headaches for the filmmakers than neccesary.

Ruffalo is a good actor, so he'll be a fine Banner.

I could careless about Norton not playing Banner. He's a great actor!….but if he's causing problems then it's not worth it. Especially when we want to see more Hulk.

! Well from what we've heard apparently Loki has "Learned a few things" from experiencing the same thing. I wonder if the two of them will join forces perhaps? We know Loki will at least be one antagonist, hopefully he'll manipulate the Hulk a bit, but I could see Red Skull teaming with Loki

Even if we don't see Ant Man or Wasp in the movie, I'm at least hoping for a cameo by Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne in some capacity. Be a fine way to introduce them for an Avengers sequel (dammit, I wanna see Giant!Hank and Teeny!Jan laying the smackdown on someone!)

I'd rather have no Hank Pym then the one that flips out on Wasp we get in shit like the "Ultimate Avengers" animated movie. If he's handled like in Earth's mightiest heroes I'll eagerly anticipate him in a sequel.

I'm interested in how the movie will play out. I'm hoping it's longer than most marvel movies as we need to get the plot going, introduce Cap' to the modern age, tie in all the characters, figure out exactly what happened to Banner after the last movie, and give Hawkeye something to…well make him important.

That would be awesome. And if Thanos is indeed a confirmed antagonist, then we might end up getting three big bads.

I like cyclops only because beams. I haven't heard too many positive things about Ultimate Marvel characters except for Peter Parker. Ant Man apparently beats Jan?
