Diana Rigg was such a hot black widow.

Apparently the movie is going to be (mostly) told from the POV of Captain America:
http://collider.com/avengers-pov-captain-america/137687/Works for me. Cap is supposed to be the leader of the group anyway, and like the article says, if focused too much on Tony, it just turns into "Iron Man and Friends."
-
I think this will work well too. It makes the most sense with Cap, and since we last left off with Cap waking up, the story flows naturally with his point of view.

Well Iron Man was the original leader of the group until Steve came along.
-
Maybe, but Cap is still considered THE leader, because, well, it's CAP.

Hey I always thought because it's the fact he's named Captain America then anything else.
-

Nope, its cause he's a born leader with a commanding presence and a great grasp of strategy thats been in thousands of fights. He's gone by different code names before. Still a leader even when that isn't his codename or costume.
-
bring back nomad!!
-
Well Iron Man was the original leader of the group until Steve came along.
Actually they all took turns being leader.
And they continued doing so until Thor, Iron Man, Hank Pym, and Wasp left the group.
Cap became the defacto leader after they recruited Quick Silver, Scarlet Witch, and Hawk Eye, all of whom had criminal records prior to joining.
Regardless, it still works because the Avengers was where Cap gathered his bearings after being thawed out. Hell that was the first on running thread of narrative the title had, everything before was just a monster of the month story. -

Back in November of 2011,*Cosmic Book News informed you that Sony and Disney had come to a deal in regards to the rights for the Amazing Spider-Man.
Sony would keep the movie rights, while Disney would hold the merchandising rights.
Walt Disney CEO Robert A. Iger even stated, "We won't be specific about the economics of this 2-way transaction, but we expect it will drive attractive returns for Disney."How attractive?
With that news, we put it forth that it would be mutually beneficial to see an appearance by either Spider-Man or Peter Parker in The Avengers, as the movie is released two months prior to Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man.
Now, some more news has surfaced in regards to a Spider-Man cameo.Jenny Agutter, who is set to appear in The Avengers as a purported council member,*stated that she was on the set and that it housed a parking lot full of Winnebagos - one of which was for Spider-Man.
Hmmmmm…..
-
Disney. You brilliant mother fuckers.
Still, you could afford to be a little bit more evil. You know, steal Spider-Man and X-Men right from under Sony's noses. No one will be upset.
-
I'd be upset. Marvel is already crushing the X-Men franchise in the comics to prop up the Avengers. I can do without it in the movies.

Well, the behind the scenes reason for that… IS because of the movies. The comics aren't allowed to create new characters or big ideas, because then the rights to those ideas immediately go outside. They're pretty much stuck with only the casts that they had. (which is pretty large, but...)
-
Oh, please. Spider-Man is getting pushed all the time with top tier talent and big crossovers and they don't have the rights for that either. At the end of the day it's all because Quesada's childish hate for the franchise. It's no surprise that the books suddenly got great again once he moved on from his EiC position. Of course, then we get a linewide event called Avengers vs. X-Men that just happens to coincide with the release of the Avengers movie…
There's also been a lot of new characters and big ideas over the past years, so it's not like they're not allowed to do that. Problem is that the characters quickly faded into the background for even newer characters and the ideas were just terrible.
-
Wait. Why would the Avengers and X-Men fight against each other?
-
The Phoenix is coming to Earth and the mutant messiah Hope is the intended host. Avengers want to protect Earth by taking Hope in, X-Men want to protect Hope and the only hope at bringing back mutants.
-
Wait. Why would the Avengers and X-Men fight against each other?
Superhero slap fights are all the rage these days.
Besides it wouldn't be the first time they butted heads. -
Spidey might cameo in Avengers?! I'm game! I don't care what backwards reacharound behind the scenes dealings that occur to make it happen.
-
Guys… what if The SpiderMan remake movie series merges with Avengers 2 after Gwen Stacey dies (if they kill her)?

A quick little Superbowl ad and a small Q&A with Joss Whedon:
http://collider.com/avengers-super-bowl-commercial-preview/141788/ -
In the Avengers Tweet thing, Whedon said that Spidey won't appear, but the Avengers will "turn off the dark"…
-
-
At about 0:30, you can see whatever Loki's army is made off. They do look like Skrulls, a bit.
-
They're probably the Chitauri, the Ultimate Skrulls.
-
Probably. Sounds a bit more Alien-like, too.
-
0:42 had me fangasming.
"I have an army."
"We have a Hulk."Hahaha, gotta love Downey Jr.
-
I loved this trailer spot! I thought the frame at 0:31 when they're shielding themselves from a fiery blast, felt like it was straight out of the comic. In fact, I thought the composition of many of the scenes and frames in the trailer had the feel of comic book panels. I think Whedon definitely has the right visual eye for the movie, and I feel even more confident in him now.
-
@Sniper:
In the Avengers Tweet thing, Whedon said that Spidey won't appear, but the Avengers will "turn off the dark"…
Pretty sure he is just joking about that play.
-
@Sniper:
In the Avengers Tweet thing, Whedon said that Spidey won't appear, but the Avengers will "turn off the dark"…
Translation: Spidey won't appear, but the Avengers will hurt a whole lot of people".
-
Everyone's making a big fuss of this UK & Ireland title change to 'Avengers Assemble' but tbh I think it's much better than 'The Avengers.'
-
I have waited so long for this movie already … but the last 2 months will be hell!!
-
This movie looks GLORIOUS!!!
-
This movie will SWEEP the Oscars.
-
At first I thought this could be fun,now I this can be damn awesome!
-

[/hide] -
HOLY FUCK! I'm hype.
This movie will SWEEP the Oscars.
If only…
If one of the cast members die from a drug overdose, it'll most likely happen.
.....Too soon?
(And no, I don't believe that bullshit of 'Heath died so he could get the Oscar'. That's stupid.) -
Holy shit. I'm not even a comic book fan or anything but I cannot wait to see this.
-
Holy cow, that trailer looked glooooorious. This has a lot of potential.
-
YES. Can't wait.
"We're not a team. We're a time bomb!"
-
Why?
WHY IS IT NOT MAY YET?!?! -
This movie's gonna be one hell of a birthday present for me.
-
-
-
Scarlett Johansson just looks ridiculously out of place.
-
This movie is look fabulous.@The:
Scarlett Johansson just looks ridiculously out of place.
Okay, SERIOUSLY! She does. I mean, I'm not one of those people who are wanting to see this movie with a bag over her head, but man, she does not fit in.
I still think they should have made the female Spider-Woman. She doubles as an agent type and actually has powers.
-
Maybe she would fit in more if they gave her a bazooka or an assault rifle, instead of that tiny 9mm.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also, did anyone else notice that, in the Assemble scene, Iron Man is wearing his old suit from the first movie?
Or at least that's what it looks like. -
Maybe she would fit in more if they gave her a bazooka or an assault rifle, instead of that tiny 9mm..
I think she fits in fine and will have some cool scenes in the movie, but I do wish she had her crazy bracelets from the comics.
-
Scarlet is awesome and Whedon will make her MVP.
-
Giant green monster, Flying robot suit, modern commando-Robin Hood, the god of thunder, a man clad in American Flag spandex with a giant shield, and…a woman with a gun.
She sticks out like a sore thumb. -
