As of 12:00 noon on Wednesday…
Welcome President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris!
May this administration be quiet and mostly not worth talking about.
Here's some good news:
Biden has nominated Dr. Rachel Levine as Assistant Health Secretary which will make her the first Trans cabinet member in a presidential administration.
Hoping this leads to some reforms on how our country handles trans healthcare.
Biden's genuinely done a pretty good job of picking a diverse cabinet- it's nearly 50% women and has representation from most minorities, including a Native American woman running the Department of the Interior (which manages public and tribal lands and is a huge deal). The one criticism I've seen is that a lot of these diverse picks are often in less influential positions that aren't in his inner cabinet.
It also seems like Biden's stepped up his outreach to progressives since the Georgia Senate wins after a number of depressingly moderate picks to start. For instance, his pick for the SEC chairman was one of Obama's toughest regulators and has Elizabeth Warren's strong approval.
So excited. Within 24 hours in my region, I'm going to watch Biden be sworn and all that 4 years of madness is finally over. However Biden needs to address the problems with the far right. He should reach out to Trump's base and find ways to satisfy them so they won't live four years of anger. We need a leader that will address the crisis to prevent another January 6th from happening again.
24 hours of this madness to go.
Lets see how many day 1 promises Biden keeps.
Everything I've seen sounds good but he really does need to send out the full $2000.
It's really bizarre from an optics standpoint for him to risk coming off as cheap and deceptive on such an important issue.
Looking forward to seeing if Biden makes good on his stated intent to end executions.
He was too late to save the ones that Trump's administration sped through (the highest rate of executions for a President in over a hundred years),
but hopefully it stops here, right after the crammed week of death that just went by.
It's one of the main things I've always looked over my shoulder coldly towards the US for.
It's my personal opinion that no one has the right to take a life in cold blood, no matter what the person did first.
I've been hoping to see the day it gets abolished within my lifetime.
When does the inauguration start? I'm gonna make a day of it tomorrow.

Biden is officially president at noon, regardless of what point the ceremony is at.

Thanks. I wanna watch the actual ceremony though. The amount of anguish and rage released by the maga chuds will sustain me for years to come.
The ceremony starts at 11 am Eastern but it's hard to say when the actual swearing-in and speech will be. Should wrap up by 12:30 or so, judging by the scheduled livestream.

What a loving patriotic family man.
I'll protect my family by killing them!
When the conservatives send their people, they're not sending their best. They're terrorists, they're murderers and some, I assume, are good people.
I'd say there's an okay person stuck in here and there in the crowd, they've just been THOROUGHLY duped.
Welp, there's one okay person.
[h=1]Live Updates: Before Impeachment Trial, McConnell Says Capitol Assault Was ‘Provoked’ by Trump[/h]
Senator Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader, said the mob that stormed the Capitol “was fed lies,” referring to attempts by President Trump to overturn the election based on false claims of voter fraud. The president is expected to issue dozens of pardons.
So we gonna have that sweet im-peach or what?
So much for all the shit talking of 4 more years, liberal tears, still voting trump, libcucks, and deep state excuses. The republicans became a bunch of shameless savages resorting to embracing schoolyard bullying for their general attitude for the country. They all sold their souls out to the devil for one last free ride and the clock has now run its course. All these gutless republicans watched as the man they knew was never on their side but his own try to reshape society around him, with all they caring about is all the money and private deals they got from him. Watch as time goes by all these red hatters pretend they never were part of the Q groupies or the Civil War 2.0 happening larpers.

Ain't that basically Goldwater? This cancer has only been growing in the heart of the party.

[h=1]Day 1461: How it ended.[/h]
! 1/ In a farewell video, Trump claimed that he “took on the tough battles” during his four years in office and vowed that “the movement we started is only just beginning.” Trump did not concede, take responsibility for encouraging his supporters to attack the Capitol, or mention Biden by name in his farewell address.“We did what we came here to do,” Trump said, “and so much more.” Pence, meanwhile, confirmed he will not attend Trump’s farewell event tomorrow, but will instead attend the inauguration of Biden and Kamala Harris. Trump leaves office as the only twice-impeached U.S. president. (Politico / New York Times / Washington Post / Axios / Associated Press)2/ Mitch McConnell said the mob that stormed the Capitol was “fed lies” and “provoked by the president” into violence, referring to Trump’s attempts to overturn the election based on his baseless claims of voter fraud. McConnell’s remarks came on his last full day as majority leader, shortly before he met with Chuck Schumer to work out rules for Trump’s Senate impeachment trial for “willful incitement of insurrection.” Former Attorney General William Barr, meanwhile, said that questioning the legitimacy of the Nov. 3 election “precipitated the riot,” but he didn’t blame Trump for inciting the mob. (New York Times / Politico / NPR / Bloomberg / CNBC / The Guardian / New York Times / Washington Post)
3/ Federal prosecutors filed conspiracy charges against three members of the Oath Keepers, an extremist militant group, for their role in the attack on the Capitol. The three were allegedly part of a group who had planned to breached the Capitol on opposite sides to hunt for lawmakers in an “organized and practiced fashion” so they could make “citizen’s arrests.” In charging papers, the FBI said during the riot, one of the members received a Facebook message that said: “All members are in the tunnels under capital seal them in. Turn on gas.” (Wall Street Journal / Bloomberg / Washington Post / CNN)

! 5/ Biden rejected Trump’s effort to lift travel restrictions on much of Europe, the United Kingdom, and Brazil aimed at stopping the spread of the coronavirus to the U.S. In an executive order issued Monday evening, but effective on Jan. 26, Trump said that the travel restrictions would no longer be needed because the CDC will require all passengers from abroad to present proof of a negative coronavirus test before boarding a flight. Biden’s incoming White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, tweeted “On the advice of our medical team, the Administration does not intend to lift these restrictions on 1/26. In fact, we plan to strengthen public health measures around international travel in order to further mitigate the spread of Covid-19.” (Wall Street Journal / CNN / The Guardian / New York Times)

Honestly, I've been hoping for something like this in case Trump doesn't go to jail, I'm all for further division in the right. I've also been feeling hopeful for America's future elections due to the latest developments, demographic shifts, etc.
Anyways, the fucker is finally making his way out. I hope Biden can do well these first months (all that he has announced so far in regards to EO and his recovery plan sounds good), and hopefully Democrats can keep the legislative branch in the midterms. I'm looking forward to seeing what's done in regards to Puerto Rico and D.C. statehood as well.
Did he leave? A bunch of people are posting the helicopter flying away.
Yeah, he's already left (to YMCA, again. Lol.)
Can someone enlighten me on the legality/legitimacy of the recent issued pardons since, a president impeached can do that?
In response to this tweet:
Scoop: Trump wrote @JoeBiden a note, sources tell me.
Trump never came to the Oval Office this morning, but the letter was left for the incoming president in the Oval via an aide.
And: @VP Mike Pence left a note for @KamalaHarris on his desk in West Wing.
President Supervillain has given us this:

Ah, Ted Cruz is in attendace. Lovely!
Damn, this inaguration is really getting to me. The past 4 years and then some have been so crazy seeing some normalcy return really gets to me. Lots of work to be done, but at least in this moment I feel a little relief.

legally speakng, he's not really into the process of impeachment right now.
it's until the senate says yeah, let's do it. but I missed it, didn't they vote yesterday??
Melania looks soo happy, like she's never looked this happy thru those 4 years of Trump's presicency, I can't really tell if she was so fed up with it, or the evil plans of divorse is what makes her smile this much.
That was a really good speech and for once it made me proud to have voted for Biden.
It reminded me of something that I used to get into a lot of arguments saying back in the day:
We on the left need to make an effort to show a little more compassion to people on the right.
It's easy to hate and blame people who made horrible mistakes and voted for a racist, fascist monster, but that monster has now been slain and we need to start the process of sucking out the poison of lies and bigotry.
That can only be done with empathy, and I really hope we'll succeed.
God damn that poem was absolute fire, I felt like I could punch through a solid steel wall that's how much energy it gave me.
I know there are people out there who aren't a fan of the unity aspect with everything that has happened in the last bunch of years. For those with power and show no intention of changing, I absolutely understand giving them the finger and shaming them. The common person though it can be much harder. There are those that obviously are stuck in their ways, but there has to be some effort to at the very least deradicalize them. When I was hearing the unity part, it wasn't that we should accept the terrible views that were front in center from the last administration, but picking those people up who supported them, and slowly trying to move them forward even if just an inch. Hopefully we can move over some of those who supported Trump, and overall as a country move in a better direction. That's how I see it at least.

Thanks, I hope after the turtle is out of control the process can run smoothly.
Malarkey was found dead today.
Unity for the commons, accountability for the Capitol terrorists, the white supremacist groups, the media outlets and gov't members that kindle their flames.
Well, now that Trump is out. We can let this thread die
If I recall, this series of threads started way back during the Obama vs Biden election, no?
I mean, I don't think the Q people are exactly going anywhere, and Fox News will go back to their schtick. They're disgruntled, yes, but they'll always be stubborn.

Yeah, I don't know. It's just that Trump generated a lot of traffic. Don't know what people will talk about now
Probably what they talked about before, during, and since:
American Politics.

There used to be election threads, while political news went into the random/news article thread. The American politics thread was created shortly after Trump was elected.
Yeah, the only thing that's its guaranteed to change in the internet, is that you can criticize Biden without being attacked by cultist.
Maybe with an inteligency agence against them they could track down and dismantle Q, now that it has been proven to be a dangerous group?

I personally would try to take over quietly and play the deescalation game: tone down the message to simmer the dangerous from the rest, and keep watch over those.
And thus ends the hijacking and joyride that Trump took this country on for four years.
I mean, he didn't start a civil war (yet), so I guess he's still technically better than Buchanan.
Now that this day is over I feel a sense of calm rushing over me. There's problems ahead yes, but one major orange problem is gone. It feels good.

The lengths crazy people would go to even believe this "supposed plan" happening is astounding. Something like this only happens in action flicks, not in real life. Still, its amusing to read…as in reading these fantasies of theirs.
Beau says some nice things about Trump for his final day.
