One Piece Opening 23 DREAMIN' ON - Da-iCE - HD Version
New Opening Them "DREAMIN' ON" by DA-iCE (Start on 02 Aug).

-
Jack is so useless he doesn't even get to be in the opening.
-
Kinda disappointed they didn't show
! Tobi Roppos, Numbers' shadows and other Onigashima things
As this could be the last Kaido arc opening and we miss some important charas in it. I'd prefer they didn't put the episode peak in it to occupy timescreen. It feels like the new "sunny scenes".

A lot of those things only started showing up when the op was already in development.
That shit takes months to make.

No way this is the last Kaido arc opening. Assuming the usual 1 chapter an episode rate and 50 episodes a year, and that they'll change the opening after a year as they usually do, next opening should start a little after where the manga is right now. And it's likely to start earlier to fit better thematically imo.
-
I like the episode clip bits. It does feel like it goes on a bit long this time though, dunno if imagining that. The whole opening was alright, about what you'd expect. My fav part is the bit with Luffy, Law, and Kid goofing around, and I like Roger showing up.
-
This post is deleted!
-
Is it just me, or did the opening potentially spoil
! Sakazuki and Fujitora being involved with SWORD?
I wish they got rid of the sneak peek bits of each episode.
Instead they made them longer. They're twenty seconds now!
If you cut them out the opening is almost as short as back when we used to have endings.
-
I liked it quite a bit more than expected. Not quite as much as Over the Top, but not a sharp dropoff either. The song is really catchy, I dig the high notes, though there's not a lot of English to make the lyrics memorable. The animation was ok. Some parts felt a bit too static, particularly toward the beginning, and the character movements didn't really have the same oomph as Over the Top's (though maybe that's a bit much to ask for). IMO spoilers were handled pretty well compared to Over The Top, obviously some pretty big future moments were included but they were suitable for hyping up anime watchers moreso than directly spoiling them.
-
Pretty good opening. I liked Over the Top better, but I didn't really expect this one to top it.
Didn't spoil too much either, which is nice - really just Oden's design (if that matters to people) and the Roger vs. Whitebeard clash, from what I could tell. I like that they used the Strawhat's Onigashima raid clothes (except Brook's for some reason, weird), and Sanji looks sick with the red suit. Animation was largely pretty great, though a couple uses of more static shots puts it below Over the Top, which is easily the best opening animation-wise. Song was better than I thought it would be, pretty catchy overall.
But yeah, I was already annoyed that the previous opening had a section that just showed scenes from the current episode, and now they did the same thing but it's even longer? That kinda sucks.
-
Unless the voice credits are being held longer the preview clips seem to be the same length to me.
-
Just watched Over the Top again to compare. The "preview section" in Over the Top was 10 seconds long, while this one is 20 seconds. It's literally double the length.
-
No one has mentioned the three dopes constantly fighting with each other for the lead in that one shot and I am honestly sad. Law, Kidd, and Luffy acting like children was the highlight for me.
-
Dat Monster trio scene

They were only about ten seconds long in the last opening.
This opening has twenty seconds of preview clips.Just watched Over the Top again to compare. The "preview section" in Over the Top was 10 seconds long, while this one is 20 seconds. It's literally double the length.
You got to it before me.
-
Okay, I stand corrected. I was going by what credits were on the screen at the time.
-
Is the preview clips going to be a placeholder for matchups or Flying six?
Both seems to be like it is going to be awhile
Or..maybe it's just going to be preview clips.
Also the lack of O Tama makes me sad -
So much for my hope of the preview to being a one time fluke xD
Do kids have such a short attention span that you have to show them a preview of the episode they're going to watch? Same with Sonys 5 second teasers before they start their trailers… Has to be some japanese cultural thing I don't get ^^' .. and dont want xD
But the're are some nice shots in here. -

Yeah. Best part of the theme by a mile.
Last theme, it was the villain cuts ending with Komurasaki.

But the're are some nice shots in here. They added that when Nagamine joined as series director, and the opening was cut short from the old 2:30 minutes to around 2 minutes.
I remember when Nagamine said in an interview that he was asked to "update" the OP anime like he did to DBS, so my best guess is that he found the old format to be excessively long and tiresome, so maybe he wanted to cut it even shorter and the preview was a compromise. I mean, if we take it out we have the average lenght for anime openings these days.
It's also a way to keep the openings more fast paced. -
Is it really a way to keep the Opening fast paced?
Because for me it's taking the flow out of the opening and destroying the pacing because episode animation tends to be slower than opening animation. But maybe I'm just wierd -
It's…okay. Not terrible but nothing really all that spectacular.
The song's fine, standard upbeat tone, gets the job done.
Visuals...eh. Kinda all over the place really. Felt like they peaked a little too early in the song. I mean I liked the shot of the SH staring down Dragon Kaido and them charging at Big Mom. And heck, even a quickie of Blackbeard but everything else just goes by so fast to process it and there's no rhyme to it (methodically speaking I mean). Still not a fan of them showing clips from the episode, and it's even longer then "Over the Top" opening, obviously padding to keep the song going. I wished they used more of the Wano cast in a more meaningful way considering the next few eps are gonna focus on flashbacks, seriously why aren't they shown scrapping with the Beast Pirates, this is just as much their arc? Plus Luffy punching at Kadio feels a little redundant considering "Over the Top" likewise ended on that note. I think a better one would've been them sailing to Onigashama and crashing into the festival while Kadio and his Pirates stand ready to rumble. They don't have to show the Tobi Roppo, or at the very least keep them shadowed. Then just ending with Luffy and Kaido rushing at each other.
Overall, it's just middle of the road for me. I don't hate it, but I doubt I'll return to listening to it.
-
Agreed on most all of that. OTT has a real nice structure and flow to it, direction/animation-wise. This one definitely feels more spastic. I only really like the beginning, honestly. Not too fair to compare it to OTT, though; that song and visuals was just too strong to top.
-
The first minute of the opening is fantastic! The spoilers now don't give as much context for them to make sense to anime only viewers, but enough context for familiar manga viewers to get excited. You can see they have shaded some characters to not spoil anything that's right around the corner.
The 20 second preview window and Luffy vs Dragon form Kaido is now extremely tiresome.
Overall it works as the 2nd of at least 3 Wano arc openings, but it can't beat Over the Top.
-
This one is kinda boring, but I guess there wasn't much juice to squeeze out of the end of Act 2 and the Oden flashback without going full blatant spoilers or making the opening awkward and unfocused. Hopefully we get a new more exciting one for the raid.
-
Sometimes I wish they’d just stick sakuga moments from the episodes into the theme. Would be super cool to see Sanji kicking Page One or Zoro cutting Killer every episode in the theme.
But it’s nice to have new animations, too; trouble is when they aren’t really any good or worth having.
Like other people have said, the first minute or so of the visuals is good; it’s the back half that suffers.
-
Eh…I'm okay with the new opening.
The animation is fantastic. The song is overall nice, but I don't like the way the song ends. I like the opening songs better when they end with lyrics.
I feel though that it's a little too fast-paced. It jumps so quickly from one thing to another that it's hard to process.
The "episode preview" bit being extended to 20 seconds was bothersome. It felt like it went on for way too long. As was suggested earlier, I'm hoping it'll be cut back down to 10 seconds later on, perhaps when the anime can safely reveal the Tobi Roppo or something.
I kinda prefer when openings tell a story, in a way. This one seems to be a rushed collection of various scenes and flashback bits that don't necessarily fit with the tone of the music at that point. Towards the end, the music dials back a bit and becomes more...god, I'm terrible at describing music or using musical terms...well anyway, the music dials it back a bit, but the animation has Luffy charging up a super powerful attack against Kaido. Maybe some flashback bits, or shots of the Navy, would have fit better there. I dunno.
Overall, I like it. As certain characters are shaded out, I'm sure we'll be getting some incremental updates to parts of it.
-
The song's catchy and energetic but compared to "Over the Top" it feels like fairly standard interchangeable boy band fare. The preview that was released the other week instantly reminded me of "Hard Knock Days", a song that I have similar feelings towards, and the full two-minute version doesn't change that perception.
But while the general footage has more of the usual One Piece opening tropes it is carried by some incredible visuals. The key animator list is heavily, heavily stacked with big names and I'm especially glad to see Takeshi Maenami and Shu Sugita still on board. Jun Arai is the name that most surprises me though; he's an animator that specializes in mechas (naturally he does the General Franky cut + the Scabbards for that matter) and I thought that he had left the industry a couple years ago. I guess it just goes to show how unpredictable the Nagamine era is, haha.
So-so song, but really godly visuals. You can see a lot of really cool frames if you frame step through all of those Haki activation sequences. I do hope the third Wano opening will end on a more creatuve note than having Luffy punch dragon-form Kaido for the third time, though.
-
Screw the fact that Chopper doesn’t get a serious fighting pose moment in the opening, just cutely holding up a sword on General Franky’s Shoulders.
-
Something I just realized: is this the first opening that's shown Luffy fighting and never once utilizing any aspect of his Devil Fruit? It's a Armament Haki. Feels like an unintentional commentary on how the series has progressed.
-
I miss the older openings.
I mean Hands up was the closest we get to a pre 2.30 style of opening and I really liked Hands Up.
I don't get the need for us to be overwhelmed by action action action and colors are vomiting at me.
It's cool for the first few viewings but has little nostalgia or historical value.
But then again, I don't particularly dislike this opening but it felt like an opening 22.5 instead of being able to stand strong by itself.
I'm so sick of seeing Kaidou in the openings. -
Is it really a way to keep the Opening fast paced?
Because for me it's taking the flow out of the opening and destroying the pacing because episode animation tends to be slower than opening animation. But maybe I'm just wierdI meant they replaced the "intermission" made of still panels that every long opening used to have with the preview, along with reducing its length to 2 minutes. This way, the cuts they use are certainly shorter and faster than they used to be.
I mean, compare the last 2 openings with Super Powers and you'll see a difference. They obviously could have done with a shorter preview, though. -
It just breaks the flow of everything, specially since it happens during the goddamn chorus. If they want to make it shorter then they should just do that, not just pad it out in an even lazier way.

Opening Tier List:
! Pirate King Tier: Kokoro no Chizu.
! Yonko Tier: We Are; Believe. Hands Up; One Day; Fight Together; Share the World.
! Admiral Tier: Brand New World; Wake Up; We Can; Hard Knock Days.
! Supernova Tier: Bon Voyage; Hikare E; Jungle P; Kaze wo Sagashite; Hope; Over the Top; Dreamin On.

! Died at Paradise Tier: Crazy Rainbow Star. -
Just to update my thoughts a bit…while I again like the visuals and song (except for the whooooa whoooa ohhh, which reminds me too much of Hard Knock Days), I think the timing just doesn't hit home for me. I'm impartial towards openings in which the animation syncs well with the music, and it feels to me like the animation side had no intention of making the opening around the musical clues.
Not a deal breaker, and I'm sure I'll like it more as time goes on.

Sanji's maroon suit is really starting to grow on me. Looks like something from the bubble era of the eighties, you know?
-
Here's my wife's translation of the opening lines:
Open the infinitely wide map
To that place without end
Let’s sail on, raise the sails high
Ride on the wind
I don't know if we'll do the whole thing, but something to chew on while we wait for the official sub. -
I just hope we get a creditless version soon because Usopp was the only one who got Mike Wazowski'd in the fighting segment lol
-
Short version of the music video reveals a cover of 'We Are!' playing on the radio at the beginning, so it will likely be included in the single.
Doskoi-Panda, Wano-kuni, Baratie…... any more easter eggs?
Also contains an english translation:
Open up infinity's map
Heading for the endless place
Let's sail on, raise the sail up high and
Let's ride the windDon't give up, we made up our minds
And won't ever turn back
Just laugh our troubles away
Shout it out, so our heart won't break
We've got eachother
So, we don't have to pretend to be toughEven if the darkness tears us apart
Hey, just be brave
We are gonna be alright
Our unbreakable bond will defeat anythingOpen up infinity's map
Set out to find paradise
Let's make a brave step forward
Dreamin' On
Open up infinity's map
Raise the flag of our promises
We will keep fighting
Stay true to yourself
We will seize them, Dreamin' on -
Is it a problem if I can't tell if that lady in the beginning is Toki or Hiyori?
-
Having watched it a fair few times now, this opening is growing on me more. Kinda signaling in the end game with Kaido and Big Mom both in there and the near resolution of the Kozuki saga. In that One Day/Hard Knock Days field for me.

It's obviously Hiyori, she even matches up with herself neatly in the preview bit.

What? I thought it was Toki giving her speech before dying.

lol is it really? Are we sure Hiyori isn't just Toki's daughter-clone cause jeez.
-
I also thought it was Hiyori at first, but the fire behind her seems to indicate that's the prophecy scene. Daughters being exact copies of their mothers is nothing new for One Piece anyways.

Looking at the art again to check, it's definitely Hiyori. It's 1:1 her, down to the part in her bangs and the exact same pattern on her dress. They mixed up some lines between Vivi and Rebecca at Reverie though so I wouldn't put it past them to accidentally put Hiyori when they meant Toki.

The band uploaded the full version of the song for those curious:

Here's my TV sized sing-able English adaptation:
**On our map as big as the ocean
Lies a new world with promise unspoken
Let’s sail on, make the wind our only guide
Now’s the time to rideDon't give up
The goal ahead has been decided
And we won’t be denied it
Through those storms of life, keep laughin’Shout it out
So loud they’ll never break our spirit
I know we all can hear it
The fear you may feel in your heart doesn’t matter
You’re never aloneEven if the darkness comes between us
Gonna brave it out
No, there’s ain’t a doubt
We’re in this together, don’t ever forgetOn our map as big as the ocean
Lies a new world with promise unspoken
The road is long, but we won’t ever stop
Dreamin’ on!On our map as big as the ocean
We’ve raised high the promise we made
Gotta keep fighting to make it come true
See it through, like we knew we always could
No matter what, keep dreamin’ onNo, we won’t be beaten
And we’re not retreatin’
All the friends we have met and are meetin’
They all mean everything to meOn our map as big as the ocean
Lies a new world with promise unspoken
The road is long, but we won’t ever stop
Raising up our dreams** -
