RE: Welcome Back! (2022 Edition)
Welcome back, AP! Definitely took a while to get the account back, as I was using an old email, but here we are. Even If I wasn't the most active, I would log in every day to read certain threads, so I'm glad the forums are back.

RE: 1089: "A New Chapter! Luffy and Sabo's Paths!"
All the new stuff is awesome but you don't know how happy I was to hear Run for it!/Run away from Movie 5 when the Sunny appeared, a classic leitmotif of the series. I'll always be grateful for One Piece's bgm continuity. Add new stuff but always keep the soul, that's the key.

RE: 1096: "Forbidden History! A Theory About a Kingdom"
Something interesting I noticed is that the Ohara flashback uses old footage (and new animated scenes too) and while it's still noticeable for hardcore fans, it's waaay better implemented than other instances where we saw that weird blurred line filter used in old episodes. Here, the lines look exactly like the current ones and the colors have been adjusted properly (even if they aren't 100% accurate), so everything looks very consistent.
They decided to forget Usopp's glasses in the first half for some reason. I know Oda forgot to draw them in some panels here and there, but to have a whole segment and not realize they were missing is weird, especially when he had a fun little animation bit out of the ordinary.

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
I'm glad you brought up the scribbly art because as someone who tries to be an artist (thanks to Oda, btw) I'm genuinely worried about that. Don't get me wrong, I think Oda's style is great as always (I know many people think he peaked in Water7/Enies Lobby, I'm more of a late pre timeskip-early post timeskip fan) but it's the execution that worries me. Like he's in a rush or something. I get the impression he's not having fun and wants to finish the chapters asap.
Then I see most of the current color spreads and they don't have such a noticeable downgrade than let's say, stuff from 10 years ago. Of course he dedicates more time to those fully colored illustrations for covers, volumes, etc. than your average manga panel, but I don't know, I feel they still have the charm and that he's having fun. And I'm sad I can't say the same with many of the recent years chapters.
I find myself pointing at random panels that stand out in recent years and I feel they were the standard back in the day. I'm not talking about grand action scenes, just a random panel of Luffy talking, for example.
Again, I still think he's got all the good things like character design, composition, action scenes, etc. It's just the sloppy (with all the respect in the world, knowing he can do better, I wish I was even remotely close to the sloppiest Oda) execution that worries me. I've been wondering for some time now if he's really ok.

I'll add an example with the same character. Ignore the gray screentone of the old one and just focus on the lineart. Kid in chapter 700 (2013) and 1071 (2023) on a similar sized panel. I'm sure there could be better comparisons though, this is just the first one that came to my mind after checking out the latest chapter.

RE: 1117: "Sabo's Return - Reveal of a Shocking Truth!"
@Crossword They found a great palette in Wano, the closest we've ever been to pre timeskip, and now we are back to the questionable choices. Post timeskip was a downgrade, and even though WCI improved a bit, it wasn't until Wano where things started to look closer to the One Piece anime I love. I don't like that now it seems they have to change the style with every new arc.

RE: 1103: '''Turn Father Back to Normal!' Bonney's Futile Wish!''
I don't have much to say about the episode but I thought it was surprising/funny they never corrected a close-up shot like this one. Look at the different ear size lol

RE: Volume 108 Predictions/Discussion
I don't want to be harsh because I have the highest respect and I'm just glad to see Oda still has it. I mean, If only the current manga looked like that... I wish he would (or could) put all that care. Imagine how the Vega Tank characters would look in a regular page in that scale. We don't even have the final product, the video doesn't have the best quality either and they already look good, detailed enough and not rough at all. Everything feels so rushed in the manga that it's always refreshing to see this stuff.

Disappointed to see the Cross Guild theme isn't included, but really enjoyed the CD, especially Sanji vs Queen. My precious musical continuity.

What's the track that plays at the very end, when Buggy announces the foundation of Cross Guild?
That one was new, currently unreleased.
Thank you. I hope it's included in next month's CD. I haven't seen many of the Wano episodes so I don't know if it's been played before. If it's from the next batch, like the next arc teaser one seems to be, then who knows when we'll get it.
