Now, let's be fair. If anybody should respect people standing around like idiots so their opponent can transform, it's Freeza.
Dragonball Discussion Kai: Broly but this time it's not Broly

I feel like Universe 7 would be better off if Shin and Beerus were killed and replaced with Piccolo and Android 17.
The multiverse would be better off if Shin was killed.
Now, let's be fair. If anybody should respect people standing around like idiots so their opponent can transform, it's Freeza.
Letting your opponent have an elaborate transformation sequence without interruption is a sacred pillar of shonen. To break it is strict taboo. It's like guest right.
-
But if Shin isn't around, who's going to continuously make grossly inaccurate statements about how strong they are compared to freeza or basic fundamental things about the multiverse?
-
@Purple:

Mutenroshi and Old Kai could team up for that.

I think it is clear that Jiren is gonna knock out ALOT of people from 6 and 7 to show the audience that he's for realz.

If they'd have killed Shin at the start of the Buu Saga, think how much easier things would have turned out for everybody involved.

Outside of this episode and Trunks and Krillin trying to disrupt Cell's upgrade, I can't really think of another scene in a shonen series where a protagonist interrupts an actual opponent trying to transform.

Hit seems destined for that to me. Probably both Androids as well sadly.

I'm very scared that Gohan will forfeit after being unable to handle his role in destroying a universe after U10 is destroyed.

Given his prominence in the ending I assumed he was a guaranteed finalist
-
I figured Gohan's team split up because of the terrain, too. It would be harder to maintain it and finding coverage in the rubble would probably be smarter.
! Spoilers about the Gohan episode say he sees a locket from another contestant. I actually like that they are addressing this. Most of these fighters aren't really evil and they also might have families they are fighting for, unless that locket has some other meaning, of course.
Considering the title of the episode, I think Gohan is ultimately going to keep fighting for his family.
Shin was constantly surprised at the fighters' strength in the Buu arc, but it was sort of a side thing and side characters do that. But he's actually kind of the Supreme Kai and should probably actually know of the strongest fighters in the universe, so having his incompetency brought up straight-up is actually an interesting move. Maybe he and Beerus will actually start doing their jobs better as a consequence of this arc.

He knew what he was getting into when Goku first recruited him for the exhibition matches with Universe 9. Gohan isn't going to drop out as long as Videl and Pans lives are in danger. Gohan isn't that irresponsible.

GOKU on the other hand….

While attacking mid transformation would be a valid tactic, you would reveal your position to the group and make yourself a target. They went with the joke sadly.
-
Watching the episode, I was under the impression they split up because there weren't so many enemies anymore, no? They started with that formation because they were expecting to be targeted by many enemies at the same time (something that did happen in the first minute), but now the number of fighters dropped to almost half of what it was, the chances of people ganging up on them are thin.

I just want Gohan to do something. So far all he's done is stand around and say pointless stuff.

Ah, just like his existence as a fighter since the Artificial Humans arc.

Remember how Buu was part of the opening sequence?

Remember how Buu was part of the opening sequence?
They still haven't updated that, have they?

I'm pretty sure they changed it ever since they entertained the idea of bringing Freeza into the team…
-

If later on they change the ED to have Goku and Gohan knocked out and on the sidelines and androids #17 and #18 are U7's last bastion of hope against Jiren I'm all for it. But this gime I think the ED is concrete and gonna be indicitive of the end of the tournament.

they did.
Usually when I watch Super I skip the intro lol. -
That isn't actually the real version:

thanx .

Time will tell. I personally don't put much stock in opening and closing sequences, but sometimes they have proven to be spoilers. We shall see.

What is with the hate for Shin?
He's kinda useless and bad at his job
But everyone in U7 is so I don't see much point in singling him out in particular -
Well, the problem is that he is useless while also not being funny, cool, badass or strong. A character needs to check at least one of those boxes to balance out being useless. Shin's problem is that he is both useless and bland (and kinda weak).
But he is cute, so he got his share of the fanbase.
-
What is with the hate for Shin?
Every single problem in the Buu saga was a result of him being incompetant and having apparently paid zero attention to anything for the last 10 years.
-not setting up any safeguards around Buu's shell centuries ago
-not keeping an eye on earth at all for decades apparently
-insisting they let Videl get the shit beat out of her
-freezing Gohan and letting the mooks steal Gohan's energy
-not knowing how strong the Saiyans were
-thinking Frieza was still the pinnacle and
-not mentioning "hey if someone has any evil in their hearts they have a thing to brainwash them"
-playing around with fusion earings for no reason
-not knowing about the elder kai
-providing no useful techniques or abilities to help out
-not asking "hey, can any of you sense Ki to locate a strong fighter on this planet?" and instead going "hey, let's let the minions lead us"
-not asking "hey, any of you have a teleport technique?"
-ruining the tournament that was shaping up to be a lot of funwhile basically just being whiny and useless in general. He didn't help anything, and mostly just got in the way and made things worse… while also having a super bland personality and design.

His universe has left like 30 sentient races. We shouldn't blame him for Buu as he was over whelmed by him, but frieza? The saiyans? Those are on him, he never did anything to quell them.

Ancient Buu, not last Buu outbreak.

CRIMINAL! How can anyone skip that intro? It is so good it actually made me start watching Super again (after I dropped it back in Beerus arc)!
-
Remember the days of Smug Shin?
-
Day. Singular. Everything went to shit right that day.
-
Shin is basically just prelude to wide-scale incompetence that is cosmic level Dragonball
-
To be fair, a god eating abomination ate his peers, teachers, love interest (s?) and best friends, leaving him alone for a 5-god job.

Killing shit that goes hayware was supossed to be Beerus' work. He left Freezer to handle the saiyans and left him run amok afterwards and he did nothing against Buu.
Shin fitted the story because he was a little midget with no real powers and couldnt do anything against the likes of Babidi and Buu. That they come up with a god of destruction that could have ended every villain up to date (and when it was his work to do so) was just a terrible idea.
-

But he can create absolutely anything just like Beerus can destroy absolutely anything, right? If only in the right hands, that's actually a pretty great power.

Why would a God of Destruction do anything against a villain who is destroying things? In Beerus eyes, Freeza/Cell/Buu were just doing his job for him. Beerus is the god of u7 villains.

Because the god of destruction's role supossedly is destroying civilizations that could be a threat to the ballance of the universe. Even when Beerus is just a piece of shit that destroys random planets on a whim.
Like every god in DB Beerus is terrible at it. The difference is that unlike Kami, Kaioh and Shin he actually had the strenght to change things.
-
Beerus did say he was gonna destroy Freeza eventually
but it was because he didn't like him and not out of any obligation to do so.Universal superpowers aren't a huge deal if Freeza, Frost, and the Pride Troopers are anything to go by
-
To be fair, a god eating abomination ate his peers, teachers, love interest (s?) and best friends, leaving him alone for a 5-god job.
Going by the other universes, it's usually a one-god-plus-single-assistant job.

That argument worked up until we found out that killing Shin would have killed Beerus as well.
-
We have only confirmation for U10, the jobber universe, the rest could very well be the "fat god" of their universe.
-
And let's not forget the ranking the universes are judged by for billions of years. Why is U7 in this tournament again?

Guys who actually do the day-to-day running of the store: Kais
Semi-competent workers: Goku -

So where does Ka… wait, is Earth the only planet that actually has a Kami?
I mean, I guess Guru technically counts as the one for Namek but we've never seen one mentioned for anywhere else. Well, outside of King Kai lying his ass off in that one filler episode.
-
Kami's the guy who's been working at the store the longest but hasn't been promoted yet because of bullshit.
Mr. Popo is the guy that no one's certain if he really works in the store but he fixes everything and makes stuff work better.
-
Kami and Popo being the Jay and Silent Bob of their theological system would also be acceptable.
-
Actually wait, Kami/Dende are the union reps.
-
Popo is possibly at the top of the food chain and just slumming it.
