Chapter 824: Little Pirate Games

Just realized something after seeing Kaido again, anyone else suddenly remembers the.. umm. Cow King / Gyumao / or whatever the hell the name is? U know, the Cow King from Journey to the West. It's probably due to that huge horn of his and that giant club/mace.

And if this is true, that Kaido is based on the Cow King, it won't be far-fetched to think that Kaido n Luffy will end up as friends. Cause he n Songoku was on a pretty good terms in the Journey to the West story; and in a lot of iterations I've seen, the cow always ended up in good terms with the monkey (in DB, he even became Goku's father-in-law).

I know that even if Oda based Kaido from the Cow King, he wouldn't necessarily follow the original lore, just throwing out ideas here.

What a great chapter… so much going on

• Luffy finally seeing what Dragon looks like, I guess he still doesn't know who saved him from Smoker at Loguetown.
• Cipher Pol briefly clashing with Blackbeard!
• Kaidou is an emotional drunk and uses a giant club - love it, further adds to his instability
• Jack lives and is part fishman...
• Kidd wrecked...
• Luffy the awful wasteful cook leaving the crew with no food (time for turtle-lion soup?)
• Sanji acting like a badass then bam, 3EG is the bride

Oh, and Robin enjoying her wine on the roller coaster. :wub:

Jack feels surely ashamed being a fishman and he is hiding it with the mask and maybe he cut off the membrane between his fingers. I am sure he is trying to hide his origin.

Sanji had a full love-reaction to Pudding, but will being introduced to her third eye kill it dead? Will she be some variation on a Todomeki? I don't know how her power is going to work; Viola has most vision powers covered and Robin can grow eyes anywhere she wants so not seeing anything terribly different about her yet.

Interesting now that Nekoms is searching for Marco and the WB remnants and the Revolutionary army are now baseless. Will they all hook up on Zou? It would be interesting to see it become the centre of Luffy's alliances.

I've never been quite sure what the place OP holds for Eustass Kid. Out of all the Super Novas he seemed the one most set up as a direct rival to Luffy. Now Luffy's greater opponent Kaido has him captured (as well as Caribou) it throws open who is a possible opponent and who an ally later on.

Poor Sanji, they really messed up his kitchen. I forsee somebody's elastic butt is in for a kicking.

Is anyone else thinking that the Big Mom situation might be at least partially resolved by something like an eating contest?

• Big Mom likes to eat, a lot, she´s "big" and most likely has a DF that allows her to digest large quantities of food
• Luffy likes to eat, a lot, can stretch and "magically" absorb food
• Sanji is a cook

Especially now that the 2 chapter long Luffy-is-cooking joke resulted in their starvation among other things and Sanji also talking about how his friends are surely missing his skills.

Dragon is a Soul King fan. He went to a concert during the timeskip and met Brook backstage after the gig. Yohohoho!

I find that to be really weird. Not that I know of Nami ever cooking or whatever, but she is undoubtely a more competent cook than all of the other people on the ship. Leaving the cooking to Luffy is like leaving the navigation to Zoro.

Another great chapter. The revolutionary situation is still left vague, so I'm assuming they destroyed Baltigo on their own terms. Luffy sees his father's face for the first time in the paper, with a typical Luffy reaction. Kidd was in fact put behind bars by Kaido, which also probably means no one important is currently seeking out Shanks. Luffy and crew have no food. Sanji only intends to talk, to his father it seems, and is intent on returning to the Straw Hats. I'm getting super excited for everything to come.

Well, I have to say this was just about as loaded of a chapter as the last few ones. And still goes to show why Oda is the 21st century god of manga.

Jack being a fishman? Well they're certainly not going away anytime soon. I certainly don't buy that the RA got defeated completely by the BB, and Sabo and Dragon were definitely not defeated nor captured. 3EG is definitely in the mix but I'm most hyped for whatever trap awaits Sanji. Hopefully the Luffy team survives until they reach Whole Cake Island. Kaido strongly becoming my favorite Yonko.
