It's one thing to repeat something done years ago, knowing that Oda likes to reuse ideas for the sake of newer readers.
It's another to do the same plot from 2 chapters ago.
You have suprisingly little faith in Oda.

well because oda knows it all
Well I think Hakuba is the only one able to get rid of Trebol right now. Or of course Luffy… And maybe Law, if he is able to still be in this fight
imma put my prediction
barto vs gladius
hakuba vs zoro
You know, Dellinger might not be out of the count. Wishful thinking but I can see him go into berserk mode after that slash.
LOL Glad to be of service… and what are those images?? Enquiring minds want to know!
Ideo said a big truth, and the Philosophy of One Piece: "because in this world victory can never be attained alone". That's the difference with Blackbeard and Luffy, Blackbeard has a group of egoistical and selfish people who doesn't care about other crewmates, and Luffy has a team who will put their lifes on the line for him and they act as a team. You think Luffy will take down Kaidou him alone? Him vs the Emperor? No. He will win because of people helping him. An ant can't win vs an Elephant but a lots of ant, yeah it can be. All the colloseum warriors knows that. if they didn't win their own fights it will become imposible for the Strawhats to win.
Does anyone here feel that sai's kick are more powerful than sanjis at this time? I feel like sanji still hasn't shown himself yet and the fight with vergo and doflamingo have only shown how good his CoO is. Plus those fights were just fend off the enemy fights.
Oh god not this again.

When was it implied that Blackbeard's crew don't care about each other? Doesn't seem like it to me:
Shrugs I have to deal with twenty plus people doing this shit to me all the time, because they can't come into terms with the fact that one can like something while finding it faulty.
For that matter, if I accused you unjustly, I apologize, though if I recall you were one of the people who defended both the setup and the pace it was done at from me.
Every time a critisism is laid towards any aspect of the series you take a contrarian stance to it, for better or worse. It got to the point that you were the only person to match my levels of posting just because you were constantly defending certain plot points.
Biases aren't bad, but it's important to acknowledge you have them.
For that matter, it doesn't matter that Oda is middle-aged or a family man. A work of art should stand on it's own, regardless of who the author is.
And you never see people trying to defend Togashi on those grounds, for example.
No, I was complaining that overall pace was bad because of how many subplots there are.
I also argued that if we are going to have them, they should be more developed, even at further damage to said pace.
Overall pace is too slow. Pace of individual plots is too fast. If I had to decide which one I would like to change, it would've been the latter.
It has little to do with the main story arc, was created to distract Luffy and introduce tertiary characters and is resolved by secondary character with little to no stakes in the main story arc.
It's the definition of side story, even if it ties to the main one.
One chapter focused on him would be fine.
But there isn't.
We get five pages of Dellinger, after which he get's taken out by character that is a complete blank slate with the exception of apparent psychopathy.
Yes, we've had significant build-up. What I'm arguin is that the pay-off does not live up to the hype.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
That's not a definition of cliché.
If anything, it would be a trope.
But even then, Oda has plenty of those. It all depends on how well they are implemented. Just because something was done before or is considered stereotypical, it doesn't automaticaly make it bad.

If you mean a fight between Luffy and Kaidou, Luffy will probably engage him in a 1 vs. 1.
Kaidou will have a bigger crew, but Luffy will have better fighters at his disposal.
Oh man, this chapter was so satisfying.
While some areas are finally cooling down, others are reaching their fever pitch. Heavy reminder that fighters we've been rooting for are also falling, sometimes without any grace at all.
Lots more Bartolomeo, which I love, but we got Barto-Cavendish interaction which I also love! AND THEN DELLINGER GETS WRECKED MID-SENTENCE BY HAKUBA YAAAAAAAA
@Miss:
Who the hell is Romeo?
@Galaxy:Bartolomeo is pronounced Barutromeo in Japanese. Basically, a play on words.
Barto, "Romeo" comes from the Romanized spelling of his name. (Barutoromeo)
Romeo
Robin X Bartolomeo
I think that Cavendish in Hakuba's mode won't reconize noone of his friends… And I suggest that he'll finish off Gladius too and will be able to break into Barto's barrier...
AND ZORO WILL HAVE TO K.O him... before he reaches BARTO! as a repayment!
Diamante is the biggest coward ever! Robin might also lend KYROS a leg (but not for long) just to fight Diamante...
Then at the end, LAW will fix it for once n' for all, like he did with brownbeard.

Tell me more young blood
While yes, Oda definitely has a streak of women needing help or not getting serious fights, (but men have needed saving just as often, if not more) its really not sexism in this case.
Its Kyros' innocent child, who is not really a fighter, being forced to fight against their will, against the same monster that killed their mother. If Rebecca was his son instead of his daughter, it'd be exactly the same scenario and the exact same dialogue. Plus, Kyros is the crazy badass who won thousands of arena fights.
Its honestly no different from Luffy protecting Coby against Alvida in the first chapters. Or Zoro wanting to take Kuma's killing blow in Luffy's place. Or Sanji wanting to save Zoro from the same. Or Usopp taking on Perona when the others couldn't. Or Ace getting in front of various threats to protect Luffy.
And aside from all that, the fight isn't over yet. It's hard to believe Oda would put them both in the same place and not have her do something before its all said and done. (Especially with Robin already racing there.)
This deserves a medal.

How could Robin effectively lend Kyros a leg?! She'd have to control the limb for him and it would probably throw him off balance and mess with his rhythm to suddenly have what would amount to a pegleg. Imagine playing a fighting game with one person controlling movement and the other attacking, it just wouldn't work very well.
Ugh. Ideo got turned into fodder. He was going toe to toe with Sai before. Why does he have to get jobed now? The coolest side character in the arc turned into fish food. T-T
But with this I belive all the lesser donquixote have been beat so thats good. Overall a pretty funny and interesting chapter but god dammit, Ideo!!!

Turned into fodder, into fodder he was not turned.
So, who do you guys think will go down first between Sr Pink and Gladius??
gladius for sure
cuz Franky > Barto/Cavendish

I really don't see what was wrong with his scene.
It was perfect and as poignant as the other gladiator fights for me.
It made me like Ideo so much more.

Its not like it was poorly executed or anything. Destruction Cannon Ideo is just my favorite side character this arc. He's a boxing champion with exploding god damn fists. His power was implied to be on par with that of Sai. I was really looking forward to seeing him bob, weave, jab, and straight his way to victory over somebody. And then, he gets gutted off panel and bitten into after gladiators had been kicking so much ass. I get his story purpose here. He's been built up via his own/other characters feats as being super good, in order to build up Dellinger who's REALLY friggen good, to ultimately build up Hakuba as being top tier amongst the allies.
But I wanted to see Ideo put in the WORK. And instead he got jobed, worked over, tossed, warfed, whatever you want to call it. I'm disappointed.
Gawd Sai didn't get the chance to shine.
His destructive cannon, probably needs a solid point blank hit, to work against strong fighters….

The Zoro fans will all go wild.
Hakuba's pose here is really cool.

Drunk? Asleep? The sword is swung strongly anyway.
I thought Dellinger's head came off at that point lol

I'm sure Dellinger is still alive. I really want him to be taken out by that King Punch.

That seems like overkill lol, actually tho I think the King's punch might just be used to change the battlefield layout after Pica does his thing

Oda doesn't kill characters lol
Oh yeah, Bartolomeo never saw actual Hakuba cuz it was too fast before.
Block B and D winners may clash after all heehee

He was too fast and the coliseum ring was covered with dust cloud and smoke from Damask.

It's because Sai = Ideo, but Don Sai stronger than both.

I wanted to see Ideo kick some ass too, but I like how Oda's keeping us guessing. It's still better than turning Doflamingo crew into fodder.
I'm sure Dellinger is still alive. I really want him to be taken out by that King Punch.
King Punch will be used to blow Pika away and Zoro then finished him off(his actualy main body), Zoro told him to save it for a reason.
Oda doesn't kill characters lol
I obviously know that lol. I mean that Dellinger isn't knocked out yet.
I can see Dellinger get up and try to sneak attack Cavendish and or Bart.
So, who do you guys think will go down first between Sr Pink and Gladius??
Probably Gladius. Señor Pink's defeat should result in the destruction of the factory, which won't blow up until Luffy fights Doffy. Gladius's defeat isn't integral to the Dressrosa arc, so he probably goes down earlier.
That being said, Gladius is the much tougher opponent. He's been extremely competent and seems like one of the family's best fighters. I could see him lasting quite a while. It'd be nice to see him KO a gladiator or two.
That seems like overkill lol, actually tho I think the King's punch might just be used to change the battlefield layout after Pica does his thing
This made me think that Pica might try and "sink" people in stone by creating something like a "prison" they were in and if its made out of stone then KP should set everybody free rather easily.
I hope that Pica wont get idea from Bartolomeos Bulldozer and he wont try to send everybody into the pit created by Sais kick, though Zoro said that Pica is up to something even before Sai busted a move.
Also its all kinds of amazing how Lao G was sill talking after eating up such strong attack right into the face. For anybody that says that Officers are weak.
I obviously know that lol. I mean that Dellinger isn't knocked out yet.
I can see Dellinger get up and try to sneak attack Cavendish and or Bart.
And then Blue Gilly shows up to get even with fish boy and he sends him flyingggggggggg with Shooting Mooooo~~~~n!
I apologize if a number of these points have been brought up already, but I just wanted to give my 2 cents on the chapter.
For the main talking point of Rebecca, I am a bit conflicted on it myself. It's not sexist, but the problem of the representation is still there. While in other arcs it wasn't as prevalent, this arc has had a number of situations with Women that can seem sexist, and with so many instances in the arc, it is unfortunate. Viola, in her ten years of service, never came up with anything to at least tip the favors against Doflamingo, and had to be saved by Sanji. Rebecca hasn't done anything big herself, winning the block because of Hakuba, not dying thanks to Bartolomeo and Sabo, and running away from Diamante when confronted. Sugar is defeated only by gags, and Joala gets a simple slash by Brook for a defeat. There's the Mans World incident, which even if you say it's for humor it still falls flat. Robin having done nothing this arc yet, only running around being protected by Bartolomeo. Lastly, the stuff with Baby 5 last chapter.
All of these individually aren't bad per say, but when all of that happens in one arc, it creates an unfortunate implication. So while the message from this chapter is supposed to be father wants to protect his daughter, everything else preceding it makes this instance look worse. Also, since been finally going through all the Korra seasons, I really want some more female kick ass sections. Unfortunately, this will be one major flaw that will be in One Piece the rest of the series.
As for the fight itself, I feel that it is building up to Rebecca doing something. Two people show concern for her, and she is seemingly starting to realize she should probably help out. I feel the bigger implication though comes from the Ideo and Dellinger talk. Assuming the translation, or at least meaning of their talk is correct, Ideo states that victories can't be attained alone, while Dellinger mocks it, saying only weaklings think that. Seems like it translates well to the Diamante fight, as Kyros and Rebecca individually are too weak to win, but if they work together, they can have a victory.
I've seen a few posts about Hakuba being a get out of free card for the plot. From it only happening twice so far, I can't really say one way or another. If Hakuba just goes around and defeats the rest of the officers himself, then that would be bad. Depending on how it's played out will determine how much I like the dual personality aspect of him.
As far as Dellinger being taken out like that, I didn't care for the way he was taken out. Dellinger had the most victories under his belt compared to all the officers, and it seemed he was still holding back. I understand he was taken by surprise, but I don't like that excuse for him being taken out. At this time, he probably isn't out, seeing how when the other officers have been defeated so far since the chaos started, it had a page or panel showing off the final blow, as well as a box saying they were defeated. Dellinger at most had a panel with his cut, and no box stating he was defeated. I would like him to be up still, and be defeated in a more focused chapter with him. Unlike most of the other officers, I feel he should have a little more time.
Overall, good chapter. Loved the Bart/Cavendish bickering, and Dellinger was really cool. Now got to wait a while for the next chapter.
King Punch will be used to blow Pika away and Zoro then finished him off(his actualy main body), Zoro told him to save it for a reason.
So zoro's speech about ' I am badass and superior' was for nothing? He can't even solo Pica? No that he managed to do anything to Pica in half a year.

If they would fight on for example sand/ ice/ material different then stone Pica would be very likely already out after not very long fight.
Oda picked most stalling enemy for Zoro in this arc so we cant measure how strong exactly Zoro is compared to Doflamingo for example.
I would guess that Kyros with both legs should be considered stronger than Zoro - why ? - because even while being one legged he manages to do just fine against Diamante who I guess is more skilled fighter than Pica(Pica same as Gladius is basing his fighting style on his devils fruit power). Diamante vs Zoro would be more interesting and even when it comes to swordfighting I guess. Also it would be similar in how long it is given better skills with sword from Diamante than what Pica shown(Diamante is swordsman of the crew it seems).
Damn I need avatar picture …

I think the fights of regular executives show they are not easy to take out. Reason why so many non- SH help defeat them. Doflamingo's crew has many strong guys.
And if we get that from the normal executives, I expect much better from The seats.
Df is not excuse, it's full of broken, op fruit out there, Luffy himself has to fight doflamingo who's fruit is better by far, and doflamingo is also one great close combat fighter with good haki, unlike Pica. Luffy on the other hand doesn't act superior and in another league.
Zoro's attitude is on yonkou level, facts don't support it, that's the problem with him.
I obviously know that lol. I mean that Dellinger isn't knocked out yet.

maybe but you know lao G got one shotted in his best state it's not farfetched to assume that the same happened to dellinger specially that he really was knocked out (looking at his pupil-less eyes)

what are you talking about ? the zoro/pica fight has been going around for a while now whereas diamante and kyros are just beginning
and technically zoro isn't having much trouble either he's still in a good shape while pica was the one panting and coughing blood ! the fight is being extended for plot purposes obviously because the executives need to go down first
if i had to guess pica is doing something that will endanger the whole country in before comes our hero and savior stopping the disaster and KOing pica with a huge ass sword technique saying his typical descending line with his typical smug face ending the chapter

Well I dont get what you are talking about either as nothing that I wrote contradicts what you posted I think
Kyros and Diamante fight is close up CQC fight more than Pica vs Zoro hit n run thing.

Well with Picas fruit you cant say it doesnt matter as he has perfect Devil Fruit for attacking and then escaping time after time. Its different when enemy tries to hit you and escapes avoiding any clashes with you if possible. At start we seen Pica swinging some at Zoro but for very long Pica is only using his ability as he probably has no chance of winning in all out sword fight.
