Very good synopsis of the story so far. Assistance from his comrades is Luffy's greatest strength.

I'm surprised that you are equating DD's underlings (Caesar) to be on the same level as him. You're arguing easily defeatable points. Provide a better argument than equating Hody Jones, who had nothing going for him other than power, to the clearly superior Doflamingo. It's obvious the difference in power level.

Mingo is a step up for Luffy in terms of difficulty. There is nothing he can't overcome. We will see new techniques from him.

Doflo is clearly a top notch villain and it would be a bit pretentious to think that Luffy is now on his level. He has to earn his spot, which he needs to understand is going to be a difficult thing to do. He does have some powerful allies on his side at this point in the story, and that is what is going to allow him to get out of the sticky situation he is in now. Moving forward, he is going to have to be smarter and not just rely on his strength. That is the pivotal point in his development now.

It's very much in character I would say. Giving monologues, having all the control in the telling of a story with self-exaggerating perfectly fits both his character so far and in-general with psychopathy and narcissim. Maybe it's not cool in a traditional kind of way but in reality this is what works more - not blatantly as Doffy does though.

I was going to put Caesar on the list but in the end it came down to staying out of choking range and hammering him with haki.
And the rest of the Straw Hats effectively nuetralized Oars so in the end it was just him versus Gekko. If it was a one-on-one from the start I don't think Luffy could have overcome his shadow powers.

My point is with Dofla we haven't seen him be able to break Dofla's strings, we don't know what it takes to resist parasite and Black Knight is still working well for Dofla. Both have haki so that's not a decider either. More, none of Luffy's allies have shown a magic bullet ability to get past them. Luffy is their trump card in that he has the will to win in a straight fight. But it isn't that yet.

Maybe Manshelly will have a mysterious ability to aid him, maybe in the end he'll just throw Sugar at Dofla.

A moment of admiration for Oda for allowing this discussion of whether Luffy can beat Doflamingo to even exist, inane as it is. Prior to Saobody Archipelago the Strawhats had powered through every arc villain they faced. They had come up against people the couldn't defeat (Smoker, Aokiji, Kuma) but those obstacles were removed by plot and they were never the focus of an arc. Come SA, the Strawhats are utterly outclassed, defeated, and scattered. We then get 100 chapters of Luffy going up against big villains he can't beat, and suddenly we have doubt whether he can beat people in the future. Even now, Post-timeskip, Luffy has breezed through every real fight so far, but now he's finally come up against a real opponent and people question if he can win alone. Every sane person knows he's going to win, but Oda has planted those seeds of doubt, and that doubt will only increase as we get farther into the New World.

Why would it annoy you? As long as it's not a nakama power up, I'll take it.

I think Dofla is a worthy opponent to test out Luffy. Because I don't think Luffy is strong enough to take out a Yonku yet. But 2 years of training could be enough to take out a top tier shichibukai.

ppl should realize by now that power levels are irrelevant when it comes to luffy's fights , if he's meant to win alone then that's what will happen in a way or another
there's no need for downplaying luffy's strength in DD's favor , luffy's character had an immense build up through training and we still haven't seen his limits .. why would oda spend that much time hyping luffy's training just to downplay the outcome in the first serious test that he had after TS ?

His fighting skills are some of the best we've seen, and arguably better than Luffy's. His devil fruit is incredibly powerful and allows him to take control of people, including Luffy. That's a shopping list of things that Doflo has over Luffy. Its pretty obvious that he is superior to Luffy in my opinion. He obviously isn't talking about CoC because he used the past tense (aka he was a World Noble and now he isn't anymore). If he had meant CoC then he would've used the present tense aka "I possess CoC…".

Exactly, which is why he stated that he possessed "the most difficult power in this world to obtain" lol. It is the most difficult power in this world to obtain because the only way to obtain it is to be born with it, like you said… And the Tenryubito status = power.

And he is a Tenryubito (aka he has the blood of the creators inside like all other Tenryubito have) like he said, but he has been rejected by them so he doesn't have the status/power that goes along with being one, so it is crystal clear what he wanted to say with that sentence.

Being a tenryubito is not a POWER is a privilege/status. Acquiring one of the rarest powers, this is something you get through TIME, no something you're born with unless you're Luffy but we'll just have to wait and see unless CCC can clear that whole conversation for us

Seems like you misunderstood what I meant, what I meant was that you cannot become a Tenruybito through time and hard work because you're born with the status, but he can use CP0 so he most have something, right?

Beating Doflamingo alone would be quite the achievement. His devil fruit ability is pretty amazing. He also has been shown to be a pretty outstanding fighter as well. I don't see Luffy winning one on one. He will get help. That idea has been reaffirmed time after time in the story.

Not sure where the idea that Luffy can't beat Doflamingo has been reaffirmed time after time in the story. I'd love to see a chapter with some dialog on the subject.

The bolded part is exactly the point of a Luffy vs Doflamingo one on one. Luffy has been absent from the pirate scene for 2 years.
The underworld and new world are watching the events of Dressrosa. This is the perfect stage for Luffy to make his true reappearance.
From a storytelling pov, it makes the most sense to have Luffy defeat Doflamingo one one one. Currently, all established entities on Dressrosa have put their faith in Luffy to deal with the situation. Why would Oda undermine all the plot elements he's building just because you don't think Luffy is ready to fight Doflamingo…

The purpose of the 2-year timeskip for training was to make Luffy and the SHs ready for the New World.
This doesn't mean Luffy will steamroll his opponents, but now Luffy possesses the necessary tools to take on the upper echelon of the One Piece verse.
Luffy will have to work it out as he encounters his opponents, and there'll be some circumstantial elements, but ultimately, this is the Luffy we're moving forward with in the story.

I was actually wondering if the most difficult power to obtain is Manshelly's ability… Perhaps I'm just too interested in where her ability will come into play.
