This chapter had me wondering…what happens to Doffy at the end of this saga. He's the joker so you can't lock him up he will just walk free and he can't die because this is OP. Riddle me this.

Akainu has no qualms of putting a magma fist through the chest.
-
I'm really disappointed with how Oda has treated Luffy during his confrontations with Doflamingo.All of them are full of PIS and that's Law's fault for being in the middle.
-
@The:
Akainu has no qualms of putting a magma fist through the chest.
I can't see Luffy killing Doffy I can see law trying but actually doing it? Say what you want about Law but he has been a more valuable friend to Luffy than just about anyone. He not only has put his trust in Luffy and not betrayed him, but he has saved Luffys life in the past and is trying to teach Luffy "street smarts" something he lacks. Law knows going up against Doffy is kill or be killed and you can see him prepping Luffy and even warning him of this throughout the arc. You can even see it in Law's tactics so far in the current fight using their hmm trump card combo move at the start of the fight and then going for what appeared to be a kill shot on his old babysitter snotty.
Furthermore I just want to say Doffy is more bonkers than many of us realize because his "new family" that he loves so much…he only loves them because they bow to him and call him young master n shit.:blink: -
This chapter had me wondering…what happens to Doffy at the end of this saga. He's the joker so you can't lock him up he will just walk free and he can't die because this is OP. Riddle me this.
I think the most likely outcome that his baby sitters (who conveniently were introduced in this arc too) will take him back home whether he likes it or not. On this scenario the real puzzle is what will happen to his crew.
Or he will just simply take his crew and go to sea as a simple pirate and face Kaido's wrath like Law originally planned.
-
maybe i don't understand and maybe i missed something too, but how can you tell for sure? i went back and reread the chapter and found no evidence for both theories, i still believe he's parasited tho
Doflamingo has two abilities the parasite ability and the hand control ability which hasn't got a name ATM.
The parasite is a parasite (hence the name) that enters the human body and overrides/hacks the victims' nervous system making it do what Doflamingo planned it to do. E.g. Killing people and running a muck.
The hand control is a more selective approach. This is a manual control. This attack requires finger movement etc, to basically control the person. E.g. Bellamy, the two vice admirals, Atmos. Or it can freeze them, e.g. Jozu and Sanji.
The Parasite has a limit as to what it can control (not controlling Strawhats, Issho, Sabo etc). Doflamingo is not controlling them by hand like bellamy and such but by the parasite.
I hope this helps you understand.
-
Yeah, but his ability might well be revealed when we finally see what's happening on the coast of Dressrosa.
I'm just assuming he's a egg man.
Not in the same way as Dagama though.
Or him being a boiling human who ate the boiling boiling fruit, the coffee cup on the top of his head was more than half-boiled.
-
That's a completely different thing, that was pure panic. Trebol is not quite scared until he realizes he can't move, not the opposite.
Actually, I think he's joking (well I hope so). Anyways, what Zoro used/expressed was Sakki (killing intention/aura), short for Satsu Ki - common in many other manga/games. Whether it be animals or people, they can have/express Sakki, you can say it's a darker form of Ki. Haki for instance can spread fear of the individual/person to the opponent(s), but Sakki spreads fear that they will die/be killed.
Think of it as meeting a serial killer holding a knife and full of blood lust for instance, you will feel the danger towards you and commonly enough - be unable to think/freeze. 'Shun Goku Satsu' for example is a move in SF games that can freeze opponents(and time in-game) and also unleash a killing combo, much like what Zoro did against Monet - though Zoro has already shown Sakki since Enies Lobby.
@Daz:
The thing is, 8 year Doffy didn't want all that power in order to use it. He wanted his birthright because it was his birthright, to be a World Noble for its own sake. He didn't storm back to Marijois because he had dreams of world domination and needed the World Noble status in order to get it (I mean, he was 8!), he did it because he missed his slaves and people talking back to him was annoying.
Now, if this snub had let to Doffy declaring "Well, I'll just be a self made man then, and get my OWN lifestyle of excess! With blackjack! And hookers!" that I'd be fine with- but 8-year old Doffy resolves to "DESTROY THE WORLD!", and even now, as he's pushing fifty, he brings up this defining moment in his life with a straight face. I mean, the "spoiled entitlement" angle was even used previously on Wapol, a total joke villain.
Actually he was 10. His mother died when he was 8 and he killed his father at 10, so 2 years actually passed. Also, I think that is the point, other than Doflamingo is on a much larger scale than Wapol, Luffy is a pirate. [hide][/hide]

Unless Doflamingo isn't defeated in this arc or Law still want to go with the plan to have Kaido deal with him. One of the reasons Law's here is that he has a way to make people submit to him - whether Doflamingo actually submits is another story though.
-
That's a completely different thing, that was pure panic. Trebol is not quite scared until he realizes he can't move, not the opposite.
I was joking dude
-
I have to say, this chapter sure delivered. But I'm weighing in on the whole Doflamingo's past thing. It's not really that hard to believe this guy is just an incredible narcissist. Everything points to the fact. I'm just curious to see how Corazon fits in with Law. I'm thinking Doflamingo may have went through a period where he was at the very least, pretending to be a good person.
-
Saying it now! Luffy will stretch his hands and get them closer to his face and chew the threads off like he did the chains.
-
So the chapter only have 12 pages. Does anyone know why?
-

Ahhh I thought something similar like Luffy breaking it through Armament Haki or some shit like that

We're probably getting the Marine Ford treatment
-
Luffy will defeat DD but DD will escape with most of his crew on his ship. But he will lose Dressrosa(obviously) & his shichi title. Maybe he will show up when Law+SHs are fighting Kaido to give a hand? or maybe he'll already be a prisoner of Kaido there..OP is getting more n more exciting every chapter as the story unfolds.

It went from 13 to 15 pages and its been like three weeks without a break, so If this is Oda's plan for the future, I'll welcome it with open arms

I don't remember those. Welp, I probably wouldn't even notice this one's lack of pages if I didn't see kouch_lee mentioning it.

Someone that can read japanese and has seen the raw might be able to answer this:
So Doffy says he killed his dad and took his head back to MJ. Is there any way the wording could be taken as he got his father killed somehow, maybe via attacking a commoner and his dad saved him but died in the process, then he took the head/body back to MJ?
Its probably wrong but I am wondering if Oda is going to pull a switch and make it that Doffy indirectly killed his dad on accident then went back to MJ cuz he had nowhere else to go and was turned away. Then he got bitter and turned into Doffy we now know. Causing a rift between him and Corazon.
But it will probably be more like Corazon though the dad died from an accident then years later found out it was Doffy so him and Doffy fought and he was killed.
-
So from this chapter I get:
-Fuji having what I consider to be a useless plan or a stupid plan.
-The citizens gaining a brain all of the sudden. It's good that they realize how stupid they were.
-Doflamingo continuing to be disappointing as a villain. I still think he'll give Luffy a good fight.
-Luffy really sucking at teaming up. Law shouldn't get 5 additional holes without Luffy doing nothing.–- Update From New Post Merge ---

You're it wasn't because of the bunch of spread?
-
Am I the only who gets the feeling Bellamy is going to die??
Possible scenario: Law is on the brink of death (as a normal human being would be at this point), Dofla is about to kill Luffy, Bellamy intervenes and dies. Luffy goes berserk (gear fourth) and pummels Dofla….
I admit the likeliness of this happening is about 2%
Gear fourth or first to put him on Doflas level. Kinda like Lucci.
-
I hate to be that guy, but how's next week? Chapter or break??
-
-
I hate to be that guy, but how's next week? Chapter or break??
No break announced at the end of this chapter, so we'll get a chapter unless it's announced otherwise (it'll be on Thursday again though, since 760 was a Saturday chapter in Japan, and therefore had to be shipped earlier).
-
There were 12 page chapters back then?
The chapter were indeed short, but the artwork… it had a lot to it in many of the panels of the war.

Nope. Way I see it, Doffy was bragging that he killed his own father. Someone that does it accidentally does not brag about it like that. Doffy meant it. He went back to MJ with his dad's head to try to prove he wasn't like his father who turned his back on the Tenryuubito. They just didnt' care about that, they still blamed him along with his father' for the 'crime' of leaving.

thanks for the explanation, yes, it surely helped me understand your thoughts. it's true indeed to me that you have no evidence beside your opinions so, until further clues, i hope you don't mind if i'll stick with the ones i already had

Well when Doflamingo controls someone or stops them he has never called "parasite". But ok
-
So the chapter only have 12 pages. Does anyone know why?
I heard that there's no naruto and HxH next week. So, in order to keep up the sales they might have asked oda to give 2 short chapters instead of a full one and a break.:unsure:
-
More like no HxH ever.
…
Wasn't there a short chapter somewhere at the start of the colosseum? -
Hello,
so doflamingo was born in heaven, then went to hell because of his respectful dad, and then decided to go back to heaven by killing his own dad and bringing his head to marijoa, and he got refused. so he wanted to see the world burn. That's why they call him Ten Yasha AKA Heavenly Demon. sums it up, doesn't it?
CCC's translation : "I was born into greatness… I possessed the most difficult power in this world to obtain"
I see it as doflamingo is saying that he possessed the most powerful status in one piece... being a tenryubito.
sure he has CoC but the tenryubito status is far more important, and he has somehow both. -
More like no HxH ever.
…
Wasn't there a short chapter somewhere at the start of the colosseum?There have been short chapter(s) before, about 15 pages long. This one was probably one of the shortest chapters so far, if not the shortest.
I would guess that it might have to do with avoiding a break.

Yeah, I know. I was reffering to that actual chapter, which I tried to find but couldn't and then got bored.
It was short, and there was no break after it… I think. -
Gear fourth or first to put him on Doflas level. Kinda like Lucci.
Yeah after this chapter Luffy seems quite outclassed by Dofla… I still think Luffy will kick his ass because of the way Dofla keeps saying Law and Luffy are just brats and he's a grown man and all. It'd be cool to see Luffy prove him wrong. Kinda like: I might be young but I'm still a force to be reckoned with!
It would also give meaning to Luffy becoming the Pirate King at a young age (not like Roger who had several(?) voyages across the red line before becoming the Pirate King as a "grown man")
-
I think Luffy and Law getting taken down by Doflo is a good thing. How old is Luffy now? 19? Doflo is clearly a top notch villain and it would be a bit pretentious to think that Luffy is now on his level. He has to earn his spot, which he needs to understand is going to be a difficult thing to do. He does have some powerful allies on his side at this point in the story, and that is what is going to allow him to get out of the sticky situation he is in now. Moving forward, he is going to have to be smarter and not just rely on his strength. That is the pivotal point in his development now.

Age is a pretty shitty reason to think Luffy won't beat Doula.
-

I used his age just to point out that he's very young and has a lot to learn.
-
@Law:
I used his age just to point out that he's very young and has a lot to learn.
Didn't stop him from defeating experienced guys like 44-year old Crocodile and 48-year old Moriah.
Or Chinjao, who is probably over 60.
And then we have Sabo, 22-year old and 2nd-in-command of the Revolutionaries. And Ace, Whitebeard Commander at age 20.
-

Does Doflamingo strike you as an equal to those you mentioned?
-
Jinbe's cover story isn't completely boring, but I would prefer a nice color spread for next chapter.
-
@Law:
Does Doflamingo strike you as an equal to those you mentioned?
That's pretty irrelevant. Luffy at Alabasta and at Thriller Bark were of different strengths.
And he's much stronger now, after 2 whole years of training. More time than he spent going from East Blue to Sabaody.
-

What are you expecting of Luffy then? Do you think he alone is going to take down DD? He needs help. You mentioned TB, and that's a good example of what to expect I'd say. He needed a lot of help in that arc to take down Moria. A lot. That will repeat itself in this arc I'd say. My point initially was that Luffy is young and has a lot to learn and its good that he isn't just steamrolling big shots, as some expected he might after that Red Hawk on DD. It'd hurt the story if he just walked over those kind of guys.

He doesn't have to walk over…
But it's perfectly possible for him to beat Doula alone. Again, youth is irrelevant.

Beating Doflamingo alone would be quite the achievement. His devil fruit ability is pretty amazing. He also has been shown to be a pretty outstanding fighter as well. I don't see Luffy winning one on one. He will get help. That idea has been reaffirmed time after time in the story.
-
if all these years of OP are something we could lean on i guess the old formula of luffy being reckless and being beaten a couple of time before going even more reckless and steamrolling over the villain would be the same case here. luffy will surely need help to get over DD but will also come at him agai stronger and stronger each time he goes down until he win. at least imho.
-
@Law:
Beating Doflamingo alone would be quite the achievement.
Yes, it would. Exactly what one would expect from a Pirate King contender.
@Law:
His devil fruit ability is pretty amazing. He also has been shown to be a pretty outstanding fighter as well.
Same for Crocodile.

I don't see Luffy winning one on one.
Because you're underestimating him, like Doula and everybody else in the story.
@Law:
He will get help. That idea has been reaffirmed time after time in the story.
He already got the help. Won't work again as Law pointed out.
And Doula has his own help to balance it out too (Trébol).
-
Remember Law's speech to Dofla (on Punk Haward) about the new super rookies.
It's like this 'middle' generation hasn't been able to accomplish "IT" in the 24 years since the Pirate King's death. So they're gonna be pushed aside by the new generation.
I think that's what Oda is pointing at with Dofla speech about brats vs. a grown man.
-

I'm sure it will. Doflamingo will have to be taken by surprise in order to bypass his string ability. He is a master manipulator and schemer who will need to be blindsided by other parties in order for Luffy to take advantage. Luffy's greatest power is his ability to surround himself with powerful friends. They will play a role here too.
-
@Law:
I'm sure it will. Doflamingo will have to be taken by surprise in order to bypass his string ability.
Luffy will surely have an opening when Doffy gets shocked by the explosion of his factory in the distance.

That's a pretty good idea actually.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. Everything you're stating is an opposing view for me. I can see that you're pretty convinced of your opinion.
