The body double theory is cool, but it raises a few questions:
1. Where is the real Doflamingo?
2. When did he change to his body double (if he looks identical to the clone)?
3. If he isn't identical, How has the puppet been made to fight intricately and travel great distances?
3. Who created the double, and how can it talk? (Doflamingos fruit can only move limbs and physical stuff)
1. I'm assuming at factory, but the beauty of it is that he can be anywhere.
2. I would say that after arrival at the palace, or after conversing with Fujitora.
3. Look to the point above.
4. Double was created by Vegapunk, and buyed by World Noble proxy. And you cannot say that Dofla cannot acces those, considering CP0 does works for him. Alternativly, it was made by the same guy that created Scotch. And it can talk, because it's a cyborg, and has mingo's memories.
Probably DF power is residing in the users body, at same time its tied to his soul so to say. So after death of person nothing holds DF power tied to soul/body. So as Blackbeard was said to be able to pull towards himself DF users it was probably because his darkness works like magnet on DFs. So he simply sucked out DF power from Whitebeard after killing him as soul didnt holded DF power inside body anymore. As for his special body it might be that he is a twin of some sorts. There was motif like that- like in movie Total Recall there was a guy with belly mutant that talked- 2 souls in one connected body. Gross but it would work. Idea is weird but we seen plenty of weird shit in One Piece till now.
Doesnt this sound most possible? ;)
Not entirely, when we know he's hunting for devil fruit users. The question remains if all the devil fruits go to him or he gives them to his crew. It would be too much if they all went to him. Now, if he gives devil fruits to his crew then I'm not sure it's related to darkness fruit. The fact he hid the procedure might indicate it's something that could be repeated by others, regardless of darkness fruit.

He might have had sucked "esence" of fruit so to say and actually put it to fruit he was holding in another hand. He could have been also holding some fruit in his hand when Whitebeard died.
He can kill DF user and suck away his power putting it to fruit with 100% rate of success. We seen lately more about DF powers and their rebirth- for example how Smileys zoan Axolotl fruit found "host" in one of apples in basked close to place where he died. And I think that Brownbeard eaten this fruit- his body is already with Axolotl like shape as he was made a hybrid of human and crocodile by Law. Also Smoker sent him to search for his crewmates on Punk Hazard so they surely went to place where Smiley died.
I believe we're getting the 744 cover tomorrow, hopefully the title says something about Dofla, this is really driving us crazy.

But why are you explaining it to me like I'm not aware? I'm just saying the blanket "might" point that it's not darkness related. Darkness is the most likely option, yes.
But why are you explaining it to me like I'm not aware? I'm just saying the blanket "might" point that it's not darkness related. Darkness is the most likely option, yes.
Well I took it as you take some other possibility as more probable. I would bet that based on what we seen blanket was more to cover how he can use 2 devil fruit powers than actual method that for me is clearly related to darkness logia being able to draw users body to him as it was said once. If it would be based purely on knowledge somebody else would be able to drag out powers out of dead DF users, most that came out of knowledge was Cesar getting back into basket Axolotl fruit.
As for Kaido - Doflamingo relation I somehow think that for Kaido end of smile DFs will mean end of his Zoan army maybe(outside of natural DF users so to say). Smile might have to be eaten regular for person to keep Zoan power so end of production might be crucial also for Laws plan as Kaidos crew would get considerably weaker in big scope.
Can a toy even die? They don't eat nor get tired (They don't, right?). It probably have to do with the fact that those toys are older than the already transformed back to humans toys, so it take longer to comeback to their human form.
Yes, they can get tired. Several times its been said or implied they get tired. esp when showing them working in the hidden dock.
I would need to find the images but there was panel of an exhausted toy that's fallen. its when Usopp & Robin first arrive and spy on the dock
I found some ages in ch 732
[hide] ch 732
[/hide]
Last two pages has some hints. pg 17 has some panting and wheezing… sounds like someone's tired and comments of a crate falling crushing someone, then on pg 18 last panel we see the toy in question is in the background while in the foreground is an unmoving toy
In 733 Kyros/Soldier also gives telling comment in the flashback of Rebecca's childhod. It's not about getting tired but about toys being able to come to an end (break die ect)
When child Rebecca comments she doesn't care about learning to fight anymore, he would be to protect her. He implies he may not always be around, the "I don't know when I'll reach my limit"
[hide] [/hide]
Its these scenes that make me convinced the Toys can get tired and they can die.
Toys get turned back to humans. Law remembers something that he wants to achieve is only possible if DD is alive. Law saves DD. I know that Law's first goal is to get revenge on DD and eventually kill him but who knows if he also wants something else from him.
I'm amazed with all these whack theories that no one has suggested Blackbeard making a Doflamingo clone out of darkness

It's more like Doflamingo remembered all the government officials and royalties that he screwed over, when the toys got turned back to humans again.
He probably remembered the shock he felt, when Kyros hacked his leg off, which caused him to hesitate, giving Kyros the time to decapitate him.

Hey I did not knew this verb. When I read it I was like:
! off?
It will be easy to remember. Not sure I will be able to use it in any talk though.
Found another page that gives credence to my idea that toys can die. In ch 737 when Cavendish gets turned into a toy, note what Trébol says he had to work for Doffy until the day he dies

Hack is a bad ass fishman name.
The toys die, because at the end of the day, they are simple toys still. They have bodies, that can break by strain and time. That doesn't mean they are virtually immortal, just like highlander immortals are immortal until their heads are cut off, like vampires are immortal until they are flocked, Toy Story toys…. etc. Toys are only immortal under certain conditions.
By the way!
I can't be the only one that everytime I see the first panel on this page, the one with Orlumbus and the rest, I'm TOTALLY seeing Epoida lifting the same crate as that coated marine.
I can't find a clear picture of him, but you know, that New World captain, allied with Whitebeard, could turn into a caterpillar, had black-and-white striped shirt, a black hat and long blonde hair, just like this guy here. . . .
. . .and no, I don't want an anime image of him.
Did anyone else notice the frame where dofla get's beheaded is the same as when kyros tried to kill him before turning into a toy?

Yeah, looks like it's him.
Yeah, but I remember one that look even closer to this chapter's "profile", but I guess my mind was playing tricks on me.
I guess, after all, he didn't have that much screen time. . .
But, yeah, must be him? Wonder if Oda will do something with it, or is just a little nugget for the fans?
most likely a little "nugget" he more or less could've been there for at most 2 years, after Marineford. I wonder if he can turn into a butterfly?
It might be as obvious, but did you notice the toy who got his arm cut by a dog in the first chapter of Dressrosa. He is in this week chapter as a human. And does not have his arm XD
I believe DD is certainly not dead, but he is either a logia or his paramecia body is literally composed of threads. If he was composed of threads it would explain how clouds can hold his weight when he swings from them. I foresee him amassing his threads atop pica and being some super thread stone golem. But it would explain a lot as far as all the crazy things we've seen him do with his abilities.
If he is made of threads he would be a logia not a paramecia. This would also explain a "clean" horizontal beheading by kyros.
Why? A sharp sword doesn't make a clean cut?

The bubbles around the place where his arm should be might indicate that it will return anyway? I hope so for that poor guy.

The opposite would be horrible!
Whitebeard was missing part of his head, did people expect his brain to fall out of his skull? Do readers expect Oda to draw open wounds to fizz with blood like a gore manga? I doubt he intents to let the children reading his manga to start crying. :P And yeah I know that he has drawn lot's of blood before, just that this situation isn't approriate for such a effect. Oars Jr didn't bleed massively in chap 555 either, we only see a little bit of blood on both sides of the parted limbs.
So, I wasn't the only one reminded of Epoida, huh? xD
Not quite sure if it's really him though.
Some people raised the questions why Doflamingo turned animals into toys. Though same question really goes also to why he changed anyone not from Dressrosa into a toy: To work for them as slaves, more or less. Even if they are wild beasts, as long as they have to fulfill the contract they will still work like the other toys do. Now another question would be why does the Donquixote Family need all these toys in the first place? Heck, that made me also question why Doflamingo took over Dressrosa at all. From Monet's "final words" we can guess that Doflamingo's goal is also to become the Pirate King, so why all this country ruling? And now with the tables turned on the villains this time around, what if they still have an ace up their sleeves? Something that needed lots of toys to work on and will help them out of this dire situation…
Also something to note this chapter would be, that Rebecca didn't seem to put together that her father was the toy soldier all along. Yes, she remembers having a father, but Kyros didn't say anything about his identity while being a toy. So expect some more tears later on. xD

Well, there are many benefits of making people toys.
Also he has a perfect base of operations in the new world. Helps if you want to be pk especially being the mastermind of the underworld and having a yonkou on your side.

Well, I mean, being a king gives you access to a lot of resources which could be helpful in becoming the pirate king, and it might be part of a longer-term plan on his part, but that aside, that seems like a bit of a silly question. Why all this country ruling? Because it's good to be the king!

Yeah, duh. That wasn't what I meant. I just thought about the possibility of some kind of plan that involves being king of a country and making all these toys, that would help him in becoming Pirate King. One Piece will not be found that quickly, but if he really desires to be PK, I just thought spending quite a amount of years on one single island might be because of different reasons.
When nobody really has to work, the happiness of the citizens will rise sky high and they will love their king, just as we have seen the people act towards him. It's lile iRobot, just with toys.
You don't become the biggest underground broker/boss of the world within a months time of work, that's why he is being there for so long. Vergo was preparing for over a decade, just to achieve his goal, which helped Mingo in return.
Because it's good to be the king!
And yeah, it's a island with fantastic weather all year long, has beautiful people, greal food and atmosphere, who would be a fool to complain?
@White:

That's like saying Luffy is logia because he's made of rubber. Remember Buggy who had the ability to have his limbs cut off. Now imagine a paramecia that makes you become a man made of strings. That's not too hard to imagine, we've seen some DF powers are much better than others.
This might just be a superior paramecia. I'm not saying he's not logia, it's just possible to be a paramecia and still have the power to reassemble yourself.
@Tom:
That's like saying Luffy is logia because he's made of rubber.
The problem is, we've seen Doflamingo use attacks that involve producing and controlling string that is not obviously part of his body - much like what Galdino can do with wax, or Magellan can do with poison. If his body is also made of string, that's both parts that are needed to be a logia. Paramecias can have either type of ability (or other types); logia have both.
There is a panel where Baby 5 is moving(trying to attack Kyros for sure) baby 5 moved but Doula didn't
Maybe he didn't move on purpose 'cause he wants to show something, Something like the mera mera powers:ninja:
If you think BB is the only charachter in the series capable of having two devil fruits you are higher than I am. Blackbeard read a book about devilfruits and there types the guy knows shit about devil fruits many people don't, there is a technique he used on whitebeard if not then why the blanket? All i'm saying is look at the facts. Blackbeard isn't any different than Luffy the direct comparisons between the two throught the entire series is plentiful so does this mean Luffy can have two fruits?
Late response but I always attributed to the two fruit thing to the Dark Dark Fruit. This topic is kinda….not related to the chapter, so I'll make it brief:
[hide]Imo, Luffy with one fruit beating the multifruit BB by the skin of his teeth, through hard work and determination of will…..the fate of One Piece (maybe the world?) at the stake, throwing that just hijacking powers will not make you victorious.
That'd be a way more climatic and thrilling final battle than multifruit Luffy vs. multifruit Blackbeard[/hide]
On page 30 so if anyone made this assumption already then I agree but with the world of one piece with devil fruit powers I'm gonna say doflamingo donquixote is alive because of his df.
Luffy has the rubber rubber fruit… Pumping blood doesn't make you faster, and bones aren't one big tube so gear 3 is a farce as well.
Sand is small rocks/pebbles no were does sand absorb water yet it's an effect of the sand fruit.
Enel came back from the dead and
Shadows don't control bodies.
My bet is on doflamingo's Df. Wouldn't be surprised if he himself is some kind of marionette.
Fruit don't make a man! Plenty of non devilfruit users that could beat some users even if you give them another fruit, the contrast between Luffy will be there regardless because Luffy got his fruit/fruits (who knows) pretty much without any planning and pretty much on accident/by fate where Blackbeard got his by studying, killing, and planning. Huge contrast, I just think there is a small flame of a chamce luffy will become the burning rubber man. Picture Luffy full body Haki coated turning into a tire and doin a burnout towards and enemy hahaha talk about gear Five.

I think you misunderstand Blackbeard's relationship with fate and luck. Blackbeard's plan to become pirate king was based on sheer luck; only by finding the fruit that he wanted would Blackbeard actually enact his plan. Then, the fact Whitebeard was vulnerable to dying in the Marineford and Blackbeard was able to claim his fruit was another lucky, fate-driven situation or Black. Shiliew taking a liking to Blackbeard and also having to just happen possess an antidote for Blackbeard when Blackbeard needed was also fate related. Point is, Blackbeard It makes sense that fate is favorable to Blackbeard; he is Luffy's doppelgänger afterall, and considering Luffy's luck, it is appropriate that Blackbeard is given a similar relationship with the concept.
If it is really a clone then It might be effect of somebodys unrevealead ability or we all know that Mingo has ties with goverment and there was an army of Kumas so who knows if Doflamingo didnt asked for something like that, controlling it with parasite ability of his from distance. It is also possible.
As for Sanji I think that Oda will torment us a bit more before showing whats up with him by some enigmatic Viola comment in the end of one of futures chapters, when thigs on Dressrosa will get their final-match up shape so to say.
It will be like "oh no Black Leg is fighting two strong people at once but your ship Strawhat seems to be reaching some island!" or something like that from Violet. As we are interested in Sanjis fate now, Oda fully acknowledges that we are STARVING in regard of Sanji related info and it would be cool way to update us on his status through Violet using her ability.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
It was not. Also ton ton was probably just a name of an attack as Machvise weights a TON
or has a ton of metal on his back. Dont get fooled by Oda so easily.
Regarding Machvise. It was implied that his fruit is the ton ton fruit. It is like the kilo kilo fruit from the barouqe agent. Not Kilo just a ton. His attack was that he made himself light to fly and then came down on franky with extrem weight saying ton ton. It is pretty obvious that his paramecia works like the one of the female barouqe agent.
Regarding Dofla being a clone because of his wound and sanji or his government connections is bullshit. Dofla is made of string. There is no way to compare him with sanji (a non df user) regarding the healing of wounds. As someone pointed out, Dofla is sweating in the suit room while all his enemies he had forgotten about for years popped back in his head at once. 20 den den mushis ringing with reports of chaos all over his kingdom. The government officials and marines he had toyified. He is fucked, he knows it, and has a thousand things on his mind. Then there pops up, out of nowhere, an unbeaten extremly fast gladiator likely with his strongest attack.
I think Dofla was saved by Law. He was shown a few panels earlier. I dont know why Law saved him but there is plenty room for a logical explanation. Doesnt mean that Dofla wont have a strong comback with his fruit or kings haki making Law regret that he saved him. I think it was Law or something to do with someone devil fruit except doflas or picas and something that no one mentioned here on ap. Dofla needing a bandage for his wound by comparing him with Sanji (a non df user) is no argument really.

Actually, Ton Ton is a Japanese onomatopeia.
You can see it being used when Sabo is putting his fists into the ground here.
Great Chapter!!!
Dofla is not dead, but the reason why is yet to be seen.
From what I saw (not sure if it was mentioned), the page where his head is cut off (he has a frown type smirk), and the page after when his head lands on the floor (he has a grin) showing that he is still in control of facial manipulation. The question is why, like many mentioned there are multiple possibilities:
1. Hax string string fruit
2. Law saved him (I don't think we saw Law handcuffed this chapter, although he looks pretty exhausted)
3. someone else helped (pica or another entity, seems unlikely)
4. Dofla is a puppet (on some form, what if the real Dofla looks similar to the other CDs we have seen, chubby and unhealthy… hmmm who knows).
Can't wait for next chap!!

I just love that everyone wants the villain, someone they want defeated to survive.
Oda you genius. You create attachments to us readers in a way that we think Doflamingo is the protagonist.
Calling it now, Doflamingo kills Luffy and takes over as main character and becomes the pirate King.
! :ninja:
Ha, imagine if Oda's been watching Game of Thrones or something and suddenly decided his formulae are becoming too predictable. We think it's going to be a "made you look" moment, same as all ten thousand "made you looks" prior to this, but in fact the next chapter will reveal that Doflamingo is actually dead, Big Mom murdered Sanji and captured everyone else, the Thousand Sunny is at the bottom of the sea, and Franky is being executed by the marines on the spot.
(Not even remotely serious, in case anyone was wondering. Though it would be kind of epic if that actually occurred)
Luffy's not getting a second fruit
Some people raised the questions why Doflamingo turned animals into toys.
This misses the point that it's Sugar who turns things into toys. It's entirely possible that the animals were turned entirely in self-defense at some time in her past and have nothing to do with Dofla's machinations. Not a large point, and one that probably won't have an impact on the main story, but it just depends on how three dimensional you want to view the lives of Oda's characters.
Pretty sure those animals are just random beasts that were captured because whatever.
Probably to show that literally no one is safe.
Did you guys talk about that "core" thing that Sabo mentioned? I was thinking we might finally get an explanation to what Zoro did in his fight with Mr. 1.

I would say that we didnt gotten confirmantion on Machvise fruit. We have only situation when he said Ton Ton and Franky commented on him floating then crushing to the ground. Rest is speculation and I rather believe that he has something more complicated and less obvious than kilo kilo variation.
So this week we get double issue- chapter at monday or tuesday is possible ?
Or should I expect normal relase?
Or it will be like that after Golden Week? I would appreciate if somebody can explain it to me.
