Chapter 734: "Rommel's Whirlwind"

Ah man this was some good stuff after the long wait.

Oda manages to keep Cavendish looking strong, flesh out his character, have Rebecca win without beating him or compromising her characters values and hype up her speed even more. Really solid stuff I'd say, and I'm saying this as one of Rebecca's detractors.

Doffy really is getting too confident in himself, so much for not underestimating the SH's.

Also concerning a little scrap I'd posted about before, namely where Cavendish's name comes from;

I'd posted before that the name of the street in "The Strange Case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde" where Mr.Hyde commits murder is "Cavendish Place". I'd thought they might be related since Cavendish had the whole beautiful exterior/ugly personality thing going on.

Looks like this chapter has pretty much confirmed that theory, with the introduction of Hakuba. Cavendish's own personal Mr.Hyde.

Nice chapter. The London reference is great, we get another Kingdom by name, probably a real special one if it is a UK like Kingdom. Do we know where Rommel is(in which of the Blues)?
From what Bartolomeo and Bastille said the Hakuba phenomenon is known around the world. Accordoing to Bastille Cavendish is aware of this status. Another interesting thing about the chapter is, that the Don doesnt have a clue as to what is going on at the factory and near the coast with Big Mom, nor that Luffy left the colloseum. Everything because he lost Violet to the strawhats because of Sanjis chivalerie. If Violet would still work for the Don they would be fucked. The Don would be aware of everything the strawhats and Tontatta were doing. Sanji is the fucking man. Without him the Don would still have Violet and the strawhats would be pretty much fucked.

What I'm most happy about is how Cavendish suddenly jumped in my personal ranking. I mean, how his faces changes when he turns into his other personality is just great, I'd love to see more of this guy. MUCH more.

Dofla is just wrong about everything… "Stawhat will not leave the Colosseum as a human" "They will never reach the basement" I really hope we get an Enel face from Dofla this arc :D

I really want to know who the dominant guy is between cavendish and hakuba..if cavendish volontarily put himself to sleep (maybe counting on the fact of KO everyone and have plenty of time to wake up after that),or hakuba just wanted to "come out and play" and forced him to sleep…the fact that he was "acting strangely" before seems to hint at the latter hypotesis,but i'm not 100% sure

From his point of view everything is going according to plan. Cant blame him for not knowing that Luffys Adoptive brother who has not been known or seen by the rest of the world would make a sudden appearance and take luffys spot in the tournament.

Dude, I wasn't even talking about Sabo, or Issho, although they are important factors. What I'm trying to get at is that for a guy who basically said to his enemies he wouldn't be as careless as former people who underestimate Luffy and his crew, he's doing exactly what he said he wouldn't do and underestimate Luffy and his crew.

Besides, what I'm really trying to get at here is if Doflamingo's either overconfident or a case of serious denial as shit is starting to hit the proverbial fan. Anyway, we shall see how all this pans out in the oncoming chapters.

A very nice deduction there RobZilla! I really like this new turn of events for Cavandish. Even though Rebecca one, Hakuba's been proven to be the strongest fighter if he had remained conscious for longer!

This is all very exciting!! Looking forward to finally seeing Sabo, Oda keeps teasing us by not showing his face!!! lol!! Hopefully next week will be the conclusion of Franky's battle with Senior Pink!!

I can't wait till luffy reaches doflamingo. Luffy is gonna get his ass haxed. Were gonna have an alabasta type fight on our hands. On another note, law should have told everyone about doflamingos ability and how it works so we don't have to kiddy rematch him, but then again he has been hyped for so long.

I would have NEVER caught this. How does Oda come up with this stuff? He pretty much already draws every second of his life - does he also listen to audiobooks while doing that, just to learn new stuff and put it in the series?

Amazing chapter. The Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde was well placed. Personally, I thought the name, Cavendish came from the scientist who came up with an equation for gravity.

Thats true. It would be very nice. I was thinking of a Sherlock Holmes like character immediately. Maybe Oda can tie some revolutionary stuff in there cause of Sabos style of clothing fits the London style as i imagine it plus it would be a nice reference to the V- like Vendetta movie. Some ancient history. There are great possibilities regarding the introduction of the Rommel Kingdom.

Well again, to his knowledge Luffy is still in the Arena, and as far as we know he could basicly trick/throw luffy into the colloseum basement and have him turned into a toy even if he emerged victorious from the final (and noone would remember anything)
So since he thinks luffy is in the Arena and he has an ADMIRAL along with the rest of his crew to deal with the rest of the SHs in Dressrosa, the grass on his side should look perfectly green to HIM in terms of things proceeding according to his plan. Unfortunately for the "young master" its not and he will indeed pay the price.

There is no logic in falling asleep suddenly. It just happens you know, it is a known disorder.

CP0 works for Doflamingo, so why would they bother contacting Riku? Or did you not notice CP0 breaking the news to the country that Dofla did NOT resign as a Shichibukai? As for the admiral, he is with Dofla in the palace as has also been shown in a chapter when Dofla took Law with him…... Pay more attention to stuff ok?

Clarification on your second question: Riku was recalling what the CP 0 said. That's his flashback from their appearance in front of the city earlier in the day. Note how the background is grey.

I'm wondering how it works exactly though, like can Cavendish activate his transformation anytime he wants? Or is Hakuba in the back of his mind, just waiting for a chance to come out when he sees a chance to spill some blood? Maybe both?

I remember wondering about Cavendish's bounty before as well, thinking it was pretty high for a guy that clean cut…

My favourite part about this chapter is probably Doffy placing the unconcious Law in the Heart's Chair. Really summarized his twisted double natured sadistic side in just one frame.
Sorta like "I was saving this chair for you for over a decade. So now you better sit in it for a while, before i slowly kill you in a horrible way"

I don't know how Oda will maintain the balance between Hakuba and Cavendish. It seems Hakuba awakens when some serious fight happens then Cavendih sleeps. So it could be an simple algorithm where we can see Hakuba every time he enters an important-enough fight?

Question 1: He didn't miss Rebecca she was fast enough and skilled enough to see through the attack and dodge it and it also seems that his split personality comes out during fights does a blitz attack and then goes back.It's like sleep walking. Question 2:CP0 didn't tell King Riku he was just remembering the announcement they made to all the citizens of Dressrosa. They might also be in Dressrosa because they heard that a high ranking Revolutionary was there(part of Doflas plan with the DF was to draw as many powerful people in as possible and also maybe a revolutionary or two)
