Pretty good episode, Tomita scenes were nice. I think it was also the first storyboard Yasunori Koyama has done for one piece, I liked it, some nicely framed shots

RE: 753: ''The Dangerous Elephant Climb - Big Adventure on the Back of a Giant Elephant!'
really pretty art episode, but this episode is a prime example why don't like Takashi Otsuka, his the weakest episode director on One piece( the man doesn't know how to do hype), still good episode but any other episode director on One piece could made a better introduction for carrot.Wish we could trade him for karasawa kazuya (the newbie who made those amazing action episode on world trigger).
This is a joke right

RE: One Piece Film Gold (July 2016)
But storyboards usually look different than that. These straight up look like manga pages.
Anime storyboards look different, he's a manga artist not an animator, either way the point is to create and roughly layout the scenes. It's also really just his idea for the movie not the actual movie storyboard

RE: 743: ''Manly Spirit - Luffy vs. Fujitora Head-to-Head''
Otsuka is nothing special, there are several director and storyboarders on rotaton far better then him.
I dunno about that 616 was pretty special by One piece's standards. It's very obvious Otsuka's effect on an episode, his storyboard for this one just made the episode much more enjoyable with those little zoom outs he does and just overall framing. Which ones are far better than him?

RE: 743: ''Manly Spirit - Luffy vs. Fujitora Head-to-Head''
So this is what a really good storyboard can do to an episode, please stick with One piece Otsuka

RE: 742: ''The Bond Between Father and Daughter - Kyros and Rebecca''
I liked this episode the Rebecca Kyros scene and OST was pretty emotional

RE: 735: ''Unprecedented - Admiral Fujitora's Decision!''
This was a really well put together episode, decent art and I think the storyboard was better than usual or it was just the manga chapter that carried it I don't know, either way I enjoyed this episode a lot

RE: 733: "Strike Heaven - Luffy's Furious King Kong Gun''
@Galaxy:
Well yeah, those things had clever things added to the hits that gave them dramatic effect and a "woohoo" moment, but they did so without vastly extending the source material.
Imagine the Enel final hit being him pushing back the Golden Bell impact ~2 minutes, and then finally being pushed back after back and forth screaming between the two. I don't think it'd be as widely praised as it is in that case. They could've done something that added a little more "oomph" to the impact without the extension.
You have a point but I still think it was fine, the way the pushing was animated was a clever enough way of extending the final hit to make the back and forth screaming look good

It really ruins the finishers though when they do it. Imagine Crocodile pushing back against Gomu Gomu no Storm… or Enel against Golden Rifle.
We're supposed to see him finally overcoming the enemy by finishing them off, not struggling to do so. The drama comes beforehand during the fight.
Comparing it to those situations doesn't make a difference imo, in this situation the pushing struggle added the drama and worked fine, at least to me. In those it had other things adding to the final dramatic hit, like the storm continuously battering croc and passing through the sand blades and enel with the bell and gold. Having said that those 2 were definitely better than the mingo finisher though
