Chapter 733: "What Mr. Soldier Wants"
-
-
What was last years big cliffhanger?
-
Damn, this would be some really strong Haki too
-
I think coby was the one that used a conqueror's haki. What I'm surprised of is that he can knock down stronger characters unlike luffy can.
I think you're a moron.
-
-
Rambo what a name.
-
@kuma:
Rambo what a name.
I'm sorry but his name is ranpo, mangapanda keeps confusing the letters b and p
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Godammit. I was EXPECTING Block D THE MOST. Damask, Suleiman, Cavendish, The Mummy. . .And Oda decided to all but off-panel it. For the first time in a long while, I'm disapointed.
same here, I guess they will be developed later but damm
-
I'm sorry but his name is ranpo, mangapanda keeps confusing the letters b and p
oh dam Mangapanda and one piece wiki, thanks for pointing that out man
-
They fell one after the other and it was fast yet Sabo had only heard rumors about it. So if Sabo is strong enough to say that he'll get mera mera, then he probably has seen conqueror's haki before which means this was not conqueror's haki. Also, knocking out cavendish, who could stand his ground against Don Chinjao, with conqueror's haki would mean someone with insane willpower which makes it less likely that it was conqueror's haki.
Since they are fast and strong, it could a dwarf. Sabo's comment and everything would make sense yet why would a dwarf knock out Rebecca? Therefore, I guess it was a dwarf that is either neutral or with Doflamingo.
-
Say someone not from D-block was responsible for that attack would d-block have to be restarted?
-
I assume (hope?) that at least two people will get up again so we'll have one last showdown for this block :D
Also, I noticed how Mr. Soldier still talks about King Riku, so he wasn't turned into a toy yet… but the last time we saw him was chapters ago and the basement was already pretty much empty at this time...
-
Ranpo not Rambo
So strong not Admiral TrongIt's a very panda Christmas indeed.
-
meadows could also be the contestant who defaulted
Say, can you recall the chapter where this was mentioned?
I remember that as well, but Dressrosa's constant jumps make it really hard to find certain panels.

The part with the Toy Soldier made me tear up… Sigh... This is going to get really, really depressing....
-
Kinda disappointed that Suleiman and Orlumbus got off paneled after making some rad introductions.
Although I am super hyped to find out who cleaned block D, I don't know how I'm gonna react if its another Yonkou rep.
Oh shit, What if its Beige or Urouge, we haven't seen hide nor hair of those guys since the time skip! -
@•Ace•:
The part with the Toy Soldier made me tear up… Sigh... This is going to get really, really depressing....
Oh yeah, you're the guy who thinks the Toy Soldier is important enough to be one of the few characters in this manga to die.
-
@Devil:
Boring? We need chapters like this, we can't go from big reveal to big reveal each week.
No, but a bit more info. will be appreciated. Literally nothing of note happened besides the last page in the two chaps that cudnt have been covered in a quarter chap.
-
Why did the fighting bull had so much screentime and the fighting lion so little? :sideways:
-
It might look like it now, but I'm pretty sure the named guys in D block will get up again. It would be really unlike Oda to knock them out like that after what he had previously done with the other blocks.
-
is it possible that meadows is vista?
-
yeah a chapter today. wasn't expecting that
and what a tease oda. can't wait for the next one in less than a month!oh now that i think about it is this king punch-type of attack? like you could only use once since it knocked the user too ? (well he still got up in the end but you know like side effects of some sort?)
-
I thought this chapter was supposed to be in color?
-
Only the cover.
16 chars -
-
@dead:
is it possible that meadows is vista?
not, unless Vista change the style of his moustaches
-
not, unless Vista change the style of his moustaches
He might of fancied a change in style very long shot I know.
-
Nice color spread, and not a bad chapter.
A bit odd, considering the badass intros we got for Suleiman and Orlumbus, but still.
Hope it's Meadows, as well.

I gotta say that Oda was totally legit in mostly off-paneling Block D. It's fair game after all; he showed us both Block B and C in all of their glory, so he could just cut off the fourth block to make things swifter in an already packed arc. Also, after all the developements of late, Block D slowly lost momentum and relevance, to the point that from a narrative point of view, now it was somewhat of a "nuisance" that had to be taken care of.
But, hell, I still wanted it receiving the same glorious treatment as B and C. Those were some of the highlights of this arc for me. I didn't agree with the posters that said "why did Oda introduce so many characters? to lose and never appear again?", because they DID serve the (BASIC) purpose of making the tournament colorful and interesting. That some of them had relevance and developement post-tournament is the icing on the cake, but that's it, they already commit their purpose. But in this block, if these characters are not to be featured again, then it DOES make me wonder why did Oda introduce them. We didn't even see what they were made of. When Hajrudin stomped Ucy, it served lots of purposes: Ucy was stomping gladiators left and right, so when that giant stomped him with no effort, it proved that he is a strong foe and, also, since Luffy had befriended that bull, it gave it an emotional pull for Luffy to one shot Hajrudin, at the same time puting him on the spotlight and making the whole scene extrelemy satisfying. Here, without seeing anything about the fighting lion, we just see Orlumbus grabbing its defeated body, and that's it. It's much less powerful.
Block B had Blue gilly kicking asses, it had Ricky, it had the magnificient King Punch, it had Hack doing his Fishman Karate that served to hype Bartolomeo when he easily took care of him, it had Bellamy savagely destroying Jeet and Abdullah, and a super satisfying conclusion. . .Block C was even better, the whole chain of events was exciting and interesting, with crazy abilities (a jacket fruit????), nice short skirmishes (Sai vs. Funk bros, Sai vs. Ideo), some world building (cactus head guy knowing where the Level 6 inmates are, Chinjao duking it out with Garp in the past), epicness (the final clash between Luffy and Chinjao) and even humor (Chinjao's backstory and how he ended up with a pointy had again). If you see the cast of incredibly promising characters Oda had in store for Block D, it's hard not to feel down after not being shown a single ability or fighting style aside from Rebeca's. Hell, Cavendish didn't do a single thing in the end!
Oh, well. . .I'll get over it, but this will sting for a while.
It might look like it now, but I'm pretty sure the named guys in D block will get up again. It would be really unlike Oda to knock them out like that after what he had previously done with the other blocks.
But. . .then, in a way, that would be lame and would diminish this new character's introductory impact. Oda's beting it all on the impact caused by a massive one-shoting of all the big names in Block D in an instant. If then all the relevant guys get up just a bit beaten but still ready to duke it out for some more, that would make the new guy look far less impressive, and thus this cliffhanger would lose its strength.
It might happen, and more block D is more block D, but. . .it would be anticlimactic.
-
@The:
What if Meadows is Kai–no! Impossible! A Yonko wouldn't lower himself/herself by competing in a tournament for a Devil Fruit. But...dat Meadows face, and dat Kaido silhouette...
Well, that would be quite the plot twist.
-
this cant be kaidou, if he wanted the fruit so badly he could kill don flamingo and on the way slaughter fujitora
-
You know, there might be a twist similar to B-Block in this whole thing.
The one character who managed to knock out the remaining fighters with his ultimate attack wasn't the winner, because somebody else was able to block/counter it.
-
It might look like it now, but I'm pretty sure the named guys in D block will get up again. It would be really unlike Oda to knock them out like that after what he had previously done with the other blocks.
Oda just showed us the ending of the match. Next chapter he'll most likely show us what happened before everyone got knocked out.

And what about the impact those other characters' introductions were supposed to have? Why depict only blocks B and C in such detail and simply 'off-panel' the remaining D one (block A being the obvious exception)? Regardless of how packed the arc might be, in my opinion Oda should focus a chapter or two on the last block and still end it on a high note. No need to start rushing now due to 'more important' characters being part of the arc now. Really don't like that.

That would make the remaining characters of block D look like a bunch of useless fodder, needed only to hype another big reveal.
-
Well the possibility is very low but I will still say this:
Urouge might be Meadows
Although their nose are not similar. Well 2 years passed maybe he had a plastic surgery. :p
-

Oda just showed us the ending for a cliffhanger. Next chapter will probably be block D and be around the time the scene changed to Lightning Soldier. When there was still like 30 people. 1 chapter is enough tough. We really don't need two.
-
@kuma:
oh dam Mangapanda and one piece wiki, thanks for pointing that out man
The problem with OP wikia is that anyone can go and edit an article unless the admins lock it (which is rare). So people see "Rambo" at Mangapanda, then go to Wikia and create his page and use that spelling. Then others who have read a correct translation has to go behind them and fix it.
Why did the fighting bull had so much screentime and the fighting lion so little? :sideways:
Simple, Luffy wasn't there to befriend the lion so the beast didn't get to be seen …pity
@dead:
is it possible that meadows is vista?
No, just no!
@DarkFalcon:not, unless Vista change the style of his moustaches
Not only moustache, look at the shape of the faces are nothing alike. -____-

And I don't like it either, but the execution that Oda decided is this one. Everyone now getting up and rinse-and-repeat would, as I said, diminish the impact of this new character, and this cliffhanger a fake one. It's a lose-lose situation.
I think Oda would've won if he decided to give Block D the same treatment as B and C. Barto greatly profited from suriving unscathed the King Punch. That made him look great, because we got to see how strong were the gladiators involved, who all got thrashed by the King Punch, who did nothing to Barto, thus legitly hyping him up.
The Funk brothers being able to hunt 100 Million pirates, being defeated by Sai with a single kick, then Sai and Ideo being equals in strenght and finally Luffy and Chinjao one-shoting Sai and Ideo made the last two men standing in the ring look like the real deal, truly a battle of the strongest. The execution in both cases was flawless.
Here, some guy defeated some strong guys. . .but we didn't see HOW strong they truly were. What were they made of. How did this new guy fare against this abilities, defend against his attackers. . .BUT, if now Oda decides to bring everyone up again, then this new guy is NOT that strong after all, which makes him lose points.
The only thing that could somewhat work (and I doubt it'll happen), would be a flashback to what took place before this beatdown. Otherwise, we're out of Block D. . .
-
so how will the tournament proceed?
Royal Rumble or 1vs1 again?
This is gooign to be hard battle
Bartolomeo vs Sabo vs Jesus Burgess vs Mysterious Guy vs Diamante
-
I'm almost certain it's going to be Rebecca, considering Thunder Soldier trademark high speed attack. So i'm guessing it's some sort of secret technique or something.
That's my guess anyway.
she was shown on the ground on the last page, im 95% sure that's meadows, and im also 95% sure he's kaido affiliated, (if not kaido himself) :ninja: nah most likely not but holy shit that cliffhanger
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
You mean his attack was so effective that he even knocked himself out?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
And afterwards she laid down to take a short break, making it look like she too was taken out?
lol thxx for saying it

Well, if we're allowed to speculate then I'm putting my money on the mystery character being Damask. He used some sort of gas to knock them all out since the contestants "have fallen one after another". Unlikely, yes, but I'll probably dislike the real cause anyway.
-

This is the matches ending. More people getting up will downplay the ultimate attack. Whoever got up is the person that did it and is the winner. We'll get a flashback before this happened. Could be a complete chapter or a few pages. Oda does this every once in a while where he shows something happening for the cliffhanger and then the next chapter he shows what happened right before it. He's just building suspense.
-
People really think Rebecca is capable of doing that?
-
i read the chapter on my mobile but i reread it in pc and yes you are right, the face is nothing like vista's,although i'd like marco and the rest to appear
-
Agreed on everything Kouch.
-
I thought there wasn't supposed to be a chapter until the 4th of January.
-
A few points:
Most likely Meadows who did that, I thought maybe he'd be a Kaido subordinate, but there would for sure be hype about it before hand I think, it wouldnt be out of the blue
If he is a Kaido sub, hes probably their to check up on the Dressrosa situation or something, but I doubt he is a subordinate considering he's a gladiator lol
I don't know why people would be mad at Usopp being a coward, its Usopp! It's a part of his character, to have him get rid of that completely would mean he completed his dream! But the thing that doesn't make Usopp a coward is that he never fully backs out of the plan he just tries to find alternates to it. He doesn't just be like "kthxbai"Also why would Sabo be hearing rumours about Rebecca? haha
-
If it wasn't Rebecca who did it then this whole chapter would be pointless.
-
If it wasn't Rebecca who did it then this whole chapter would be pointless.
Yeah pretty much. Oda basically just wasted pages with LS telling Rebecca you need to get stronger or titling the chapter "What Soldier San Wants" if it ends up being someone else.
-
If it wasn't Rebecca who did it then this whole chapter would be pointless.
Which is why if she isn't the winner, the whole point of not showing who did is beyond silly. However I still don't think it was her since she looked completely KO'd literally a few inches on the right before someone got up.
