One Piece Manga Has 300 Million Copies in Print
The 181th issue of Shueisha's Comics News digital magazine announced on Monday that once the 72nd volume of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece manga ships on Friday, the manga will have 300 million copies in print. The announcement notes it is an "unprecedented" achievement, and reads, "Thank you to all the book store employees who kept the manga selling!"
In comparison, as of February 2012, Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball manga had approximately 156.6 million copies in print, and Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto manga had approximately 126.5 million copies in print.
The 71st volume of Oda's One Piece manga sold 1.5 million copies in the first three days of its release in July. Right now, One Piece is in the 3rd worldwide best selling book series beside Goosebumps and Perry Mason! Only Harry potter(2nd place with 450 Million copies sold) and Maigret(1st place with 853 Million copies sold).
One Piece's Chopper Joins Monster Hunter 4 3DS Game
This year's 49th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Saturday that Chopper from Eiichiro Oda's One Piece manga and anime adaptation will make an appearance in CAPCOM's Monster Hunter video game for the Nintendo 3DS. The collaboration celebrates One Piecehaving more than 300 million copies in print.
Chopper will serve as an assistant fighter to the player. He will come equipped with a wooden branch as a weapon, and an “Excited Chopper” armor. Chopper will cheer on players during their hunts.
Monster Hunter 4 was directed by Kaname Fujioka and produced by Ryozo Tsujimoto of the previous_Monster Hunter_ games. Gameplay will support up to four players. Manga creator Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail) designed original full-body outfits as well as a weapon for the game. Nintendo had initiallyannounced that the game would be released in March, but it had been delayed until its September release date.
