So do you think Cavendish'll lose this match or he won't simply be in the match because he'll be too busy hunting down Luffy? I thought about the latter though it seems unlikely since he could just fight and kill Luffy by progressing in the tournament.

As for why Doflamingo is keeping her alive? I'd imagine that he doesn't have a choice. Keep in mind what Luffy said, "You don't look like a prisoner to me." Rebecca is doing the same thing Mr. Soldier did earlier when he was dodging the cops. Taking advantage of the rules of the Colosseum to protect herself from her enemies. As long as she's in the Colosseum, she can't be arrested. She lives there to order to keep safe, and is forced to fight every so often to maintain her safety.

You've got to be kidding me, you seriously think Doflamingo holds HIMSELF to that rule? He's already given Bellamy orders to murder Luffy between matches! He controls the entire place! He can do whatever the fuck he wants.
The point was already made last chapter, that it's virtually impossible for captive gladiators to escape because they always die long before the promised freedom.
It's essentially a form of public execution to put Rebecca in the stadium.

lol…wat? Why the hell would Cavendish save Rebecca? From what I gather up about this guy, all that really matters to him is his fame and reputation. I think you're missing the whole thing happening between him and Luffy. I don't think he has any desire to "bond" with that guy. He hates Luffy because he's part of the "worst generation" that stole away all his ATTENTION. Cavendish use to be the #1 pirate talked about, but not anymore. Yup. That Luffy so hot right now.

I really think we'll have an 8-man battle royale after this. I like Bart and Burgess but spending two to three chapters each on the block winners against DD's men would take too long and drag.

With that in mind, Cavendish makes a lot more sense as he kinda turns the match into a clusterfuck with Bart after him, him after Luffy, and Luffy after Burgess while they all have to fight DD's guys. Rebecca in there would help Luffy with her and Bart being allies with only Jesus as an outlier.

I stand corrected. But nonetheless, he cares more about his notoriety than the fruit. At this point killing Luffy would be more valuable to his notoriety rather than just obtaining the fruit, which was a means to an end anyways (that being he wanted the fruit to gain back his original fame.)

Though this is a tournament used as a bait and not the Tenkaichi :)
Dofla wants to get rid of dangerous people, not find a winner.
So it makes more sense to send 4 of his strong men, able to fight together against 4 people that would hardly tag together.
We already know that unless something big, Jesus won't tag with Luffy and Cavendish has like 10% chance to side with Luffy, so the Doflas can take advantage of fighting a possible 6 against 2.
I wouldn't wonder if Dofla knew the real identities of people and anipulated the draws.
Surely he knew about Burgess and Luffy and knew they would have won their respective blocks.

i think cabbage either doesnt participate in his block at all (because he is searching for luffy) or luffy will show up near the ring and cabbage will chase him out and get disqualified. rebecca then win the match.

i love cabbage and dont really care about rebecca but after her flashback and all, it will be a bad development for her char if she lose already.

I'd say the fights will definitely be interrupted. because Burgess is there and he's too strong for this point in the series. Though I think it'd be a pretty awesome dick move on Oda's part if Burgess became a fire using champion this arc. That way you'd have another one of Whitebeards previous "assets" transfer to Blackbeard.

Sure he have connections everywhere but that doesn't mean that he'll know everything that's going on in the NW, we only know that he's team has been in the Shearts ass since they arrived at DressRosa, we have no idea If he saw or heard about each participant, so saying that he knows that Jesus is participating at his tournament is kinda of stretch

After this chapter: Doflamingo pulled a Crocodile; framing and overthrowing the Riku Kingdom, became King and possibly made connections to the World Noble and may not have been one. But the possibility is still open.

But there is a small plot hole that has yet to be answered: The one-legged soilder was already a toy when Doflamingo was invading the island, how did he become a toy?

That and the fact Rebecca didn't find strange that a toy could talk, move, … everything toys do in Dressrosa now: this tells me there were toys and they were accepted by the population BEFORE the arrival of DD. If the toys become toys due to one of DD's underlings, how is this so?

Rebecca is a deposed princess, hated and locked in a colosseum because of her ancestry and, oh, who doesn't really seem to be aware or deeply interested in the big important things in the kingdom but is fighting for the sake of her and select others.

Actually, I fail to see how Rebecca is more like Shirahoshi than Vivi.

Law kinda recognised Baby 5, as if he knew her before, but she's changed in appearance. Law left Doflamingo ten years ago. So Baby 5 was probably around.

Couple of questions about the toys come to mind:
Why 500? Is that the upper limit to how many the DF user can keep toyified at one time?
The mechanism for it seems to be that the effect must be activated in the presence of the DF user and is then stable. Why else would the Thunder soldier still be allowed to run around being disruptive if the effect could be broken at any time, from a distance? Unless his original form was too troublesome?
I read the mangapanda translation, but it does establish that every village has a toy house rather than only one central house? That would imply they're not required to work in the factory.
If the theories that at night they change back that implies the DF user doesn't need to physically need to be there to reactivate it. Perhaps they only need some kind of personal token to activate it?
But having gone rogue, Thunder Soldier has presumably not returned to one of the houses, so that in turn implies it's stable. So if it's not for factory work or to disguise the change there must be another reason. I wasn't sure, but did this chapter actually show him operating at night?

Sanji gave Vergo the warning touches.

That's absolutely not the case.

1. She was a little kid when she first met him. Of course she would accept strange things.
2. She lives on the Grand Line, New World no less. There are strange things abundant there.
3. Over the years she learned and came to know her island like everyone else did. In fact this was directly shown in the chapter.

I think the battle royal is more likely. The comedy factor would just be awesome. Luffy going after Burgess while Bart protecting him with his barrier against Cavendish. Of course in secret so Luffy doesnt notice him that much, leaving the Dofla fighters with an what the fuck expression on their faces. Anyway we dont know. Cavendish could easily loose cause of some trick. Maybe Luffy showing his face just outside of the ring or something. The dragonball thought is nice, but from my POV it would only work well if the other block winners were strawhats too. Which fights would be off screen? Potentially every match could take a chapter or more. After the first 4 fights there would be 2 more and than a finale before the winner fights Diamante. Its just to much. Battle Royal gives massive opportunities for comedy plus we could maybe see Doflas guys working together almost perfectly. We officially dont know if all four of them belong to the diamond seat but it would make sense. Diamantes top guys that may have been fighting together for a long time?
