That said, I'm a bit curious, Monkey King, how do you think Blackbeard will read the Rio Poneglyph to find information about where Pluton is, for example?

He doesn't necessary need to read the Rio, he may steal it, say kidnap Shirashori.
P/S. The Rio holds the true history not the locations of the Weapons, the Poneglyph on Sky island and the one at Vivi's place does.

Well for starters, he definitely doesn't have a crew archeologist.
Just think about Blackbeards character. What would Blackbeard do?
If you guessed beat the information out of someone after murdering your way to find that person, then we're on the same page.

What if Caribou tells him about Shirahoshi, i think he will take over Fishman Island and hold the Royal family hostage to control Shira.

I think he's most likely going to find Uranus. With the newly revealed bit about the Nefarti family, it makes me thing that the WG will get Pluton.
But holy shit, I just realized that Kaido likely just captured Caribou and there's a good chance he will tell Kaido about her… O_O -

Blackbeard is kinda an ass
He's the black-hole man so it figures he'd get something space themed.
-
Most people I've talked to agree it's like Pennsylvania with higher taxes and regulations.
The Finger lakes are nice though, that's the big bonus I guess.
And the ever so lovely Erie canal.

Did I? Or did I turn it into a clever double entendré?

No, you just missed the joke. Though if you actually attempted the latter, then it must have fallen on its face.

"he's kind of an ass" "yes, he's a black hole man"
Have a sleep on it and get back to me.

Hehe, has anyone already pointed out that the final villain could be the Mother Of Devilfruit (MOD). MOD can be a colossal creature discovered by the 20 kingdoms to combat the ancient weapons, then she is sealed for the horrors she brought. History has been erased to deny her existence. The act of sealing her produce an interesting side effect: the spawning of devil fruits across the seas.
Lol I saw this theory on a Naruto Forum and laughed.

The BB vs WG vs SH + allies in the end as the last war sounds interesting, but Oda has also built up BB's Crew to be SH-crew's one-on-one opponents (like he did with Arlong's, BW and CP9). I can totally see them clash 1 vs 1 already on Raftel. BB has not to be killed there and can still wreck up WG-stuff like MJ. Bout BBs not having an archeologist: Avalo Pizaro has to be one, otherwise he would be totally useless cause Iva didn't even mention him. At least he got a beef with the WG, since he is sum kind of "king".

We don't know if he has an archaeologist, the level 6 prisoners position's on Blackbeards ships haven't even been hinted at yet, or if they even have any typical jobs like with the SH's.
-
BB having an archaelogist like Robin in his crew would be kinda lame
-
Every ship needs an archaelogist!

Blackbeard is all about fate, If he gets his hands on an ancient weapon it will be because of fate and not because he happens to have an archaeologist that can't read Poneglyps also did you saw any manners in those level 6 prisoners?
-
@Past:
Akainu will be the final boss guyz
Ugh. Can I change my vote? -

Roger didn't have anyone who can read the Poneglyphs, but he had the ability to hear the voice of all things. I also think that Blackbeard may know something about something that we've yet to know.

The WG are trying to avoid the war or even delay it as much as possible, they're not even trying to be final villain. lol

I didn't say he would. I'm just saying we don't know what positions the level 6 prisoners might fill, which is true. For all we know Vasco Shot might be a great archaeologist when he's drunk.

Vasco Shot looks like a rapist, imo if there were a archaeologist on BB's crew i would be Avalo Pizarro.

I don't think rapist is a recognised position on any nautical vessel…also I was kidding.

Isn't Robin the one bro capable of reading the Ponygraphs?
Plus Blackbeard doesn't give a shit about history. At all.
Him having an archeologist would be a MAJOR dissapointment to me.

The "rival" usually isn't the final villain. BB is basically Gary Oak.

yeah its not like One Piece is tied directly into the void history and ancient kingdom
And BB couldn't possibly have any use for ancient weapons or anything–- Update From New Post Merge ---

When the guy whos been spotlighted and built up as the villain for the entire story is replaced at the end, its usually to very subpar effect
See: Cloud of Darkness, Zemus, Necron, Yu Yevon, as opposed to Xdeath, Kefka or Sephiroth
-

Who the FUCK was the Champion?
-
-
I DUNNO, I THOUGHT IT WAS LANCE!!
Nah, that was G/S/C. In the original games (and FR/LG), Gary/Blue was the Champion.
-
Ah! And the whole time I thought I beat the game after beating the Elite Four in my Pokemon Red. I'm such a goof.
-
There should be a option for incurable disease, although I wouldn't choose it if there was one.

Speaking of Avalo, I wonder why he wasnt named amongst the level 6 prisoners :s
-
Gold/silver /crystal real villain was Witney and her miltank.

Oh crap you're right. I was half trolling anyway.

And another person who for no reason at all does not understand that a series of one on one fights is easily if not obviously a fit into a larger war.

He totally has a wealth of information regarding ancient history at his disposal and logically he knows he needs to find a strong archeologist who has the same information Oda stated only Robin has. And he found one willing to join his crew.
:/
-
Yeah it's not like Blackbeard doesn't care about anything but becoming the Pirate King.
When did Blackbeard state what his goal was? Or what he thought of the position of Pirate King as being?

Oda never stated only Robin had that ability. In fact he "stated" the opposite with Roger's crew.
-
rrhgfhgdfjddsajsadjsajdggghghghghhhhh
Blackbeard doesn't read poneglyphs - true. He doesn't have someone with Robin's skillset - true. He likely doesn't care about the Ancient Kingdom - true.
BUT
There are three ancient weapons. Weapons that, in the hands of a belligerent psychopath who outright admits to hating peace, would cause some very very real destruction. Now let's say that word through the grapevine is that the key to unlocking and controlling these weapons was at a key point in the Grand Line. Let's say…at the very end of the New World?
Now if you were a belligerent psychopath pirate who wants to fuck up the world in a major way, wouldn't you want to reach the end of the Grand Line in hopes of getting the key to the weapons?
-
@Monkey:

Why was Robin's bounty so high? In arabasta wasn't it said that Robin was the only woman capable of reading the ancient language inscribed on the Ponygraphs
Wasn't she the huge threat she is because of her ability to read the ponygraphs? Ohara was taken out because they could read them and she's the lone surviver?
-
Why was Robin's bounty so high?
Because she was the last scholar of Ohara.
Wait why are we arguing this lol, you're wrong outright.
Roger could read the Poneglyphs, not from scholarly reasons, but he could through Haki. End of discussion. -
@Monkey:

Man reading this topic reminded me of how much I love Blackbeard. I think he is my favorite all-time anime/manga villain. The way he is slowly built up from arc to arc gives me shivers. I only wish Luffy's love of Ace had been built up as well.
Just a tidbit of useless info: before I watched the anime, I used to always hear Pete, the Mickey/Goofy villain's voice as Blackbeard's.
And just so that this isn't purely off-topic: I hope that Blackbeard is the final villain -
Fine. But he doesn't have a damn archeologist, that's stupid.
BB wants to conquer the world and take the title of pirate king, he will need one who can read the Poneglyphs (not necessarily an archeologist) like Robin or he should already have the same ability as Roger had.
-
The final villain will be Aizen
-
Blackbeard being a purely "chaotic pirate" was themetically debunked in Jaya, when BB gave Luffy a speech about deams at Jaya. Whitebeard told him to his face with his dying breath that "he was not the one Roger was looking for".. and he said it in a way that wanted to cut into BB's soul.
BB is a D, he clearly an evil and nefarious individual. But, the thousand year in the making story of One Piece is the D/Ancient Kingdom and the CD/WG.BB could just want to surpass Roger, because he thinks that it's his right as a D and it doesn't matter what he does to acheive it. He might not have the full story (but he probabily does moreso then Luffy, hell maybe that's what made him crazy), but we don't know his full intentions yet.. they've been left vague.
Certainly BB is being build up as a brutal asshole but this might be a set up for the biggest Oda twist of them all…
