You didn't see the reaction around here when Kaze wo Sagashite had its surprise premiere, did you?
According to Greg, it was pretty bad in Japan too right?
Edit: Though I believe that also had a lot to do with the time the opening began as well.

Nothing, they are just terrible.
And what's with the reaction? Anime is shit in general, it's a terrible adaptation we need an edited version of to even watch. Don't act like it's some untouchable treasure.
I don't think they're terrible, and Im sure others here agree, so that just seems to be a bit subjective.
I don't think they were acting like anime is perfect, but do you actually hate every anime enough(even ones you've not seen) to say that it is all terrible? also, if you do not like anime, even the One Piece anime, why are you here, just to pick on it??
Please Bartolomeo be in it
You should put that on a spoiler.

Openings have nothing to do with the anime's quality, unless you refer to the art/animation in them. Do you seriously think ALL the openings are terrible? Opinion is subjective of course, but still…
And lol at telling Saturday that when she is one of the users who are best at criticizing the anime.
So will we see the new opening tomorrow?
Stupid question but just want to confirm
January 19th, so yeah mate. Really looking forward to it!
Japan is quite a bit ahead of the US in regards to time. Anyone know at about what time EST we could expect to have an upload of it?

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one.
I love the anime and the openings despite the bad pacing at times.

It airs in 1 hour and 55 minutes. Hands Up was uploaded in streaming quality 5 minutes after it was broadcasted.

I hope so too because he has become one of my favs in Dressrosa
Have really high hopes for this one. Hope not to be disappointed! Hands Up was a huge let down video-vise.
woohoo, seems like today's episode is a one to watch…havn't seen much of animes since smoker vs vergo

Yeah, I'm trying to temper my expectations. Here's hoping, though!

If we hope hard enough, there's more chances of it becoming true ;)
Airs in 1 minute!!!
[inner screaming]
Keyhole died half-way through but !!!
Great Opening!!!
Poor opening, specially first part…
meh
I don't really like it
pFFF I loved it, I guess im reaaly biased towards OP.
This is the first opening to have two characters having a dialogue right in the middle of the animation.
I dunno about you guys, but I really liked that for some reason.
This was everything I ever wanted, thank.
I can now go die in peace UwU
I don't know…I don't not like it.
I don't know why Toei loves those designs so much…

I think those garish costumes is really what killed it for me.

Because they make Nami & Robin look like whores?
:ninja:

I kinda agree, they felt wierd on them, especially Franky's.
Kept thinking Sanji was Cavendish XD
Liked the dialogue interlude, liked the arc-specific part near the end, and the song was fun if not the best, though disliked the fanservice bit.
Also, Straw Hat Quidditch.
@Print:
Also, Straw Hat Quidditch.
So does that that make Blackbeard Voldemort?
The other issue I have is how misleading it can be to more casual viewers, and the fact that we haven't seen many of these characters – including Blackbeard -- after the timeskip. Other than that, I enjoyed the music, the visuals were for the most part nice, and the Dressrosa part was very cool. I'll probably talk about it more on the podcast.
I liked it! Nice to have a more fast-paced opening again.
But man, this was…an interesting one, for sure. Fighting the admirals? Showing Blackbeard before we've even seen him post-timeskip? Dialogue in the middle of the opening?! Lots of weird stuff in that regard. I'm not really against any of it or anything, but it's weird that they did all that, especially since it really doesn't have much to do with the arc. Definitely interesting…
And I'm fine with outfits. Wish they weren't used throughout almost the entire opening, but I feel they work with the whole 15-anniversary thing, and there's been worse outfits that the Strawhats have worn, for sure.
The big trio fighting on equal par with fucking admirals killed it for me. That was stupid, they're nowhere near fucking ready for that.
If I don't see this opening on Crunchyroll in the next hour, I don't know what I'm gonna do.
Anybody else think the Dressrosa scenes shown were ripped straight from the episodes they will appear in? That kinda threw me off and bothered me a bit. Other bits that bothered me was of course the excessive fanservice.
Otherwise, thought it was pretty great. Song's fairly catchy and upbeat. And it had the right amount of time spent on the scenes:
Crew on the ship/Action fanservice/hype for Dressrosa. All three were pretty great given Toei's standards.
Still iffy on the scenes of the 15th anniversary Strawhats. Don't think there needed to be 3 of those (or at least it would have been nice to show them in different outfits/doing something more substantial), but they fit were they were placed.
As for Strawhats vs Admirals: it's an opening. Showing the crew "face off" against bad guys got my blood pumping to see action in the show, and I think that's more important than if they're actually strong enough to fight them in the series.
Showing Blackbeard before we've even seen him post-timeskip?
If you look closely at the Blackbeard Pirates group shot, Burguess appears exactly the same as he was in Jaya.
So no, none of the Blackbeard crew are new designs, Toei just used their Pre-Timeskip versions for the opening.

I don't think they're anywhere close to that far ahead yet.
Blackbeard has a Usopp nose.

It felt like the opening for a fighting game. I guess one of those old One Piece games' openings for PS1 had a similar moment… maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah, I noticed that watching it again. Still kind of a weird thing to show, imo, as it is still kind of misleading.
Also, I really liked the animation for this opening - it seemed pretty solid throughout.

I thought production for episodes take months to finalize. And I could be wrong, but didn't opening 6 used scenes from the Enies Lobby fights against CP9 (like that were used in the anime) even though they were still charging through the city?
I personally didn't really like the dialogue. It just wasted time that could've used for cooler stuff.
Still, while the opening didn't really fully break free of the formula that recent ones have fallen into it had a lot of energy and animation. Apparently it was directed by the guy who brought us episodes 607 and 616, so no wonder. Despite those gripes, I did like it overall.
those costumes are awful. besides that it was pretty good. also nami and robin look like strippers
Stood out a lot from every other opening due to mentioning 15th anniversary twice, imaginary face offs between characters, and includes character dialogue! I thought it was mainly filler with bursts of spoilers at the end.
Apart from using the old designs of Blackbeard and Co (Who, to be fair, we haven't seen Post TimeSkip…well, baring you know who) I thought this opening wasn't too bad. The song was catchy and I liked the SH's VS The Marines bit. I'd give it an 8/10.

Don't say that stuff
The opening is really full of energy. I guess fight fanservice, too, just to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the anime? Of course, now the fanservice is creeping into the openings, too. I still like those outfits from that illustration, so it's cool they were in the opening. The song itself was considerably more energetic that Hands Up, too. Hands Up was ok, but sort of mellow and didn't have as good animation. I enjoyed the opening, looking forward to HD. Little iffy that they showed Blackbeard because we haven't seen his Post-TS design in the manga yet, but again, I guess it's just a fun treat for the fans to celebrate the anniversary, the voice-over part seemed odd, as well, they've never done that and it really didn't do anything for me.
