Last night (?) segment of TDS intro with "Barrack Obama is the luckiest dude on the planet" had me in tears of splitting sides.

HOLY $#%*ING LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!
That's if the election was held today of course. We just have to hope everything we see now either stays roughly the same or continues trending Obamaward.
It's not impossible that something could happened.
But yeah all and all it's really only about a month away from now lol, so Romney really is basically fucked.
It's like the last few weeks people gained a renewed trust and goodwill to Obama and the dems first with their convention, and then the floor just finally dropped the fuck out from under Romney with his shitstorm of gaffes topped with the 47%. Like finally a lot of people who were maybe half paying attention to Romney as being boring or whatever decided they really just didn't like him at all and down the shitter go his polls. -
Borrowing some information from SA.
Nate Silver, known for baseball statistics, does the 538 blog on NYT mentioned above and the guy who predicted 2008 crazy accurately (I think the only state he missed was Indiana, which went +1% for Obama, and got all of the Senate races that year), has this out:
!
Now, let's do a thing where we take every swing state that isn't 80% Obama or more, and give them all to Romney, for fun (probably what would happen if Europe exploded tomorrow or we declared war on China or something). Basically, Romney gets most of the swing states. And what happens then?
!
This election. Even if he gets all but the most blue swing states, Romney still wouldn't win.
Also, 270toWin is entirely too much fun to play with.
-
Hey does anyone know what's Romneys plans are in regards to the military/ongoing missions?
-
Hey does anyone know what's Romneys plans are in regards to the military/ongoing missions?
Romney has less a FP platform than a suggestion of one.
But he has done the usual Republican bullshit about "we must stay in Afghanistan!", sticking his nose as far up Israel's butthole as possible, and foolishly answering Russian and Iranian sabre rattling with the same right back. For another glimpse into why American's aren't taking to him, this country is so damn ready to leave Afghanistan it's not even funny. Yet he's tone deaf to that because it's still taboo in the ever more radicalized Republican party to be pragmatic about war and not WOOOOYEEEHAAABLASTEM'.
Basically Republicans can't be trusted with handling a goddamn thing outside the American borders, and probably can't be for awhile yet. If they even survive the upcoming political demographic changes that is.
Also I've heard rumors that Romney made enemies of virtually the whole state department after he tried making political points out of the four Libyan deaths literally the day of.

We still have the debates coming up.
I have my night class during the first debate, but oh god, I can only pray for some train wrecks.
-
This election. Even if he gets all but the most blue swing states, Romney still wouldn't win.
A commenter on Daily Kos worked out the ways that Obama could win and found 193 potential combinations that could result in him getting a second term.
By contrast, Romney only has a single path to victory and that requires that he win Florida and Ohio both.
Hard to imagine that happening considering that Romney just doesn't excite Republicans at all.
-
Debates are going to be fuuuuuuun! I can't wait for them. Romney is a decent debater at best while Obama is really good. Furthermore Obama has the advantage in every issue. Even economy seeing as Romney has yet to come up with an economic plan that doesn't involve increasing the deficit and saying it'll work out somehow by magic whilst Obama actually gave a plan. Not to mention Romney fucked himself over with his 47% comment.
Romney is gonna get his ass kicked in the debates.
-
If Romney starts to sweat during the debates, I hope FOX adds some digital flames to the effect.
@Cyan:Part of me wants Romney to win in hopes of an utter lolfest of a presidency like Bush
Sure everything in the country would go immediately to hell, but at least we'd go down laughingSomehow, I doubt it.
-
Cue the people saying that she is just like every Obama voter ever.
Cue people saying that she's part of the 47%, and supporting that statement now.
Cue the massive racist remarks that no one will attack, because she's an Obama supporter. This election needs to end.
Then again, these are Youtube commentors and Twitter supporters commenting. Half of them are like nine years old.
-
You tube commentators are unintentionally hilarious, I one time debated with a moron about a film podcast posted on youtube in the comments section, And when I used the word butthurt he replyed '' Only fags use the word butthurt."
You Tube comments are a riot to behold.
-
DAMN!
We have to vote for Obama! Or we'll never get our free phones!!!

On the free phone stuff: I assume she's part of a program called the Lifeline Program for Low-Income Consumers. Basically, if you're poor and/or on some form of government assistance (medicare, medicaid, etc), the government will help subsidize a cell phone for you, I think they give around $15, depending on location. It's paid for by everyone that has a phone in the US through the Universal Connectivity Fee.
There are entire companies built around servicing these low-income phone users, who need phones
so that they can get called by Job Creatorscan talk with social workers, employers, and contact police in an emergency. It's existed for 28 years and can really make a difference in people's lives. Phones used to be a luxury, but nearly everyone has one now, but the "welfare queens living off government!!!one!11!" has already started, ugh. -

Youtube comments are easy to shrug off until you remember that real people wrote them.
Yeah.
Just…
Let that sink in.

The video was linked on the Drudge Report, there's a reason there's so many horrible comments on this vid in particular and that's it.

I think that secretly people like Bill Maher, Jon Stewert and SNL want Romney to win. Just for the massive amounts of material that they will be able to use.

Obama winning, again, will make the ever farther right wing go nuts as heck though, which will be way funnier than if Romney wins.
This has to be the start of the end for them, and they aren't going to go down quietly lol.Seriously, expect them to allege election rigging like we're Russia or something lol. It's going to be hilarious.
-
Can't wait…...:)

@Monkey:

Well, they have already used "voter fraud" to justify Voter ID, so it would not be a very big leap for them.
-
I hope they're still crazy enough that they botch 2016 too, and from there on out they will either die or have to swing back moderate with the demographics tides.
Happy times are coming on~
-
Fukaboshi: "Mittens, what made you hate women/blacks/latinos/immigrants/gays/the eldery/the poor/47% of America so much!? What happened!? What did they do to you!!?"
Romney: "Nothing."
SFX: "DON"
…
Fukaboshi: "Everyone, listen to me!! He's completely empty! A cardboard villain! A suit-wearing shell of a man!! A substance-lacking puppet of fear and hatred!!! Obama, bring us back! Bring us back to zero!!"
Obama: "Yosha!!"Romney pops some more steroids, his skin turns Latino, and he continues to self-destruct
Noah is obviously the economy or something.
No but seriously, does anyone have experience with absentee ballots? I sent in the form over a month and a half ago and still nothing. I'm sure there's no need to worry about a scheme by Republicans to somehow win New York by preventing me from voting, but it's almost October... and I want to do all I can to make Obama's probable popular vote win as crushing as possible.
...I wish I had someone here to share the excitement of this election with, but you guys make for good company, so thanks :D

Y'know, there was a time when I thought the actual election would be boring with Romney on the ticket…
How very wrong I was.
-
@CCC: For the state of Texas (so really my vote doesn't matter beyond local elections since it's so red ), assuming you're registered to vote, it involves printing the application for a mail-in ballot, taking care to note the location you want it mailed to, getting the county clerk's name right, getting back the ballot a few weeks later, and then mailing it back in, hopefully all before November.
Anyway, this seems to be the thing to look at for the state of New York.
-
Whoa. Voting on the internet? Too futuristic.
I did the first three of your recommended steps already, so I don't think I need an online account or anything… but I'll definitely refer back to that link if they drag their feet any longer. Thanks. -
@Monkey:
Seriously, expect them to allege election rigging like we're Russia or something lol. It's going to be hilarious.
That would be very ironic, considering it's actually the GOP that's trying to "thin the herd" by poll taxing states, attempting to lessen voter counts.

I absentee voted from Georgia for CT in 08', I guess I don't really know if it made it through. I just popped the letter in the mailbox and that was that.

I've know Obama was going to win for a while but none of the republicans I've talked until recently realized this. But in the end Robama or Obamney aren't going to change shit… I still don't get how people still believe this. Republicans: no regulation, no 4th amendment, massive military industrial complex, theocracy. Democrats: command economy, no 1st amendment, depleted military, governmental control over child welfare, nanny-state. Both of which sound like shit, so I won't vote. Obama is worse than the last one and whoever wins in 2016 will be worse than Obama.

Wait a minute … Are you really equating a massive military industrial complex with governmental control over child welfare??? Do you really think that it's "één pot nat" like we say in dutch (tar everybody with the same brush).

God, this "all politicians are the same, nothing is gonna change, voting sucks bla bla" bullshit manages to be annoying, useless AND illogical, all at the same time! Tell me, on a basic level, why is it possible for a president to screw things up and change the world for the worse (like, let`s say, going to war and invading a country without a good reason), but impossible for another president to fix things and change the world in a good way? What the hell does an unreasonable pessimistic world view like that accomplish?

The guy chose Captain kid as his name and avatar, with the tag "BadAss Among BadAsses". That should tell you all you need to know about him and how much time you should spend thinking about anything he says.
It's kind of like picking out a Naruto name in the year 2012.

If you can't mount a response to things like "precedent" and "data" and "cogent logical discourse" without going back to the well of "I feel this way!" then you probably aren't fit to talk about politics.

How can we make sure your wheedling eye rolling teenage bullshit doesn't ever get posted in any thread involving news and critical thinking again?
Like what's your price range? Or do I have to goad you into saying something nice about Hitler so that we can just toss you out with the trash. -

I'm not talking like protecting children from abuses VS haliburton and blackwater running things. I'm comparing the idea that government should tell your kids what to eat, what to believe, what they can't say, more or less a Hitler Youth vs a military industrial complex is what I'm implying.

Like what's your price range? You obviously have no critical thinking skills. Maybe you should learn that if somebody says something you don't like that doesn't make it wrong. If you really want me to leave then just continuously and unrelentingly break up my arguments until I quit or become simple minded "conservatives are dumb", "Bush is the reason for everything" retard like yourself. Then again if you give $10,000 I'll never post here again and you can live your college aged dream world where you think you know everything. I'm FAR from perfect but I'm willing to admit mistakes, someone like you who is cut and paste of every college aged retard from the 1960's really needs to think before they do things.

(a leftist news organization in favor of Obama over Bush). I didn't say anything THAT crazy, I did exaggerate but it was merely for the point of people discussing things.

Nothing really changes because we are so deadlocked in Congress and politicians are worried about reelection after they get in, instead of solving problems. Obama stopped the Iraq War, which is GREAT but he allows for the killing of US citizens and until a federal judge blocked the power his authority extended beyond what Bush's was. Voting as it is right now has very little effect on things. Think about it this way if voting mattered why are only a few states called swing states? A swing state can go either way because they are open minded, New York, Maine, Texas, California, North Carolina ALWAYS go the same way, meaning people don't change either they aren't willing to here the other side so they simply vote in the blue or red guy. It's annoying.

Yes please tell the Belgian more about how our centrist president is instituting that you nutcase.
I can't fucking believe you're from CT. This is how morons from Alabama talk about New England states. Get some fucking perspective ahahaha.I'm not from CT, I don't think I've said where I'm from. I live outside of Orlando which is liberal city at this point. I'm glad you quoted me when I said "Obama/the president is", no let me dumb it down for you. I was implying the Democrats if given free reign with NO conservatives would make the US more like a nanny state like England (I can't wait to hear you espouse the greatness of England) and Republicans if given free reign would have us under a theocracy with a frighteningly strong military. As of right now we are just treading water before our economy goes under thanks to neither side willing to do anything.

Name a single good thought you've ever posted on these forums that wasn't already basically held belief by post people.
I mean shit we already did crush you last time, you ran off after it became clear you didn't have a goddamn clue what we even did in Libya.
Now you're back with inane garbage about Hitler Youth that deserves about as much of an argument as would anything you might bring up about birth certificates, and the usual nihilistic trash that shows you have literally zero education in History of any sort or kind.
You have a child's understanding of every political issue paired with exaggerating said understandings into apparently endless processes that repeat themselves over and over without variation from the dawn of time onward. And boom, a worthless fucking addition to this thread.
I smash people on the regular here and elsewhere, you're a broken record though and no one likes hearing "SHIT VS TURD, SHIT VS TURD, SHIT VS TURD" everytime that Kidd avatar shows up on the thread's horizon. You're boring, you advance none of the discussion, I'd take the two phantom right wing guys who haven't shown up in like over a year over you any day of the week.
If you're as nihilistic as you say you are, why the hell are you even posting here in the first place. Then again if you give $10,000 I'll never post here again and you can live your college aged dream world where you think you know everything.
Strange as this is for me to say, I'm above college age by this point, son.

Oh this is interesting, see you have maybe encountered me twice here before this, so I'm really interested. Give us all a Zephos description akin to what I just did for you up there. Tell us exactly what you think I am in a nice big fat paragraph. We'll see how far you miss the mark, which "wide" seems appropriate given the "1960's ddururu" thing.

Anyways, I never said I'm from CT (at least I hope I didn't, it was fucking 3:00AM when I wrote this) I'm from Orlanda FL which is liberal city so no I wasn't raised in Fuckwood Alabama. Glad you quoted me when I said "Our president/Obama is instituting this". I was implying what each party would like to do if given no holds bar absolute free reign, DEMOCRATS (not Obama not our president the Democratic party as a whole) would create a nanny-state worse than England (and I can't wait for you to espouse how great England is). REPUBLICANS if given free reign would create a theocracy and with an overbearing military. As we are right now, nothing gets done and we're in an economic quagmire waiting for our country to sink because neither side did anything for the economy.
