Great thread, now I can add everyone under 18 to the ignore list.
Survey of ages among OP readers here in AP

I'm 21, feel a heckuva lot older though. Even got the bad back and trouble remembering my own birthday to go along with it. -w-
-
you are never too old for classic masterpiece.
Nothing wrong with reading One Piece but once you reach a certain age you shouldn't be posting on a Anime Forum.

Screw that. I'm an adult, I do what I want.

yeah right,
Why do I get the impression this isn't a joke?
If its a joke, it would be better received if you show its a joke by either using the comic sans font or adding the ninja face
If not a joke - keep your age-related discrimination to yourselfI read the names of those who voted three times, and I find it interesting you've made at lest two cracks at us older fans yet not revealed your own age bracket by voting.
Are you one of those that are in 7-13 bracket that refuse to vote? -
I'll be turning 24 in July, so I went ahead and chose 24.
voy a ser de 24 años de edad~

Good thing this is more of a manga forum than an anime one.:ninja:
And if it were age limit to enter to a forum then there will be no Mods and this what would happen to the site.

I like this thread, it is interesting seeing people's ages. I love this forum because there seems to be a lot of users around my age unlike some other sites out there. I'm 28 and I started reading One Piece when I was around 19, I think. I found out about it on the internet and read the scanlations. I found this website soon after I finished reading because I had to keep up with the chapters. I think I was up to around the Luffy vs. Usopp fight because I remember all the discussions about their actions and whose "fault" it was. I'm not a regular here though, I just look through the spoiler and chapter threads.
Now I'm going to go back to my lurker mode.

How old are you oh wise one with such knowledge of what to do in more advanced ages.

47 If you are in your 30s don't post in a Anime Forum anymore. There are other forums like Sports and Car forums that have no age limit. Gardening forum would be a good one too.

Why is there an age limit for that? What, people in their 30's can't go on forums and talk to other people about a series they like? You're lame.

Wait you're 47 and posting on an anime forum to tell people not post on an anime forum. You even bothered to have an avatar on this anime forum.
Either you're schizophrenic or you're actually a 13 year old trying to describe his vague idea of what adults do.
Next you'll tell us older people all wear suits and ties and carry around briefcases all day lol. -
I'm 31 and I do feel sort of silly or embarrassed reading manga. But actually I feel like a lot of mangas, including One Piece, are pretty "subtle" and have some good political/social commentary going on "behind the scenes". Also I appreciate a good detailed plot, and I like how Oda foreshadows so much. It can be fun to observe evolution of an author's ideas as well as evolution of their art styles. The main thing I guess that makes me feel embarrassed about mangas is usually the other people, on most forums I am the oldest person there LOL. And most of the comments are imbecilic/superficial; there are rarely deep meaningful discussions about manga unfortunately.

Oh that idiot reregged? lol, Why haven't the mods once again christened him with his true name.
-
Turning 25 this July. I started reading the manga late 2007 after the OP DVD my friend lent me ended right at the middle of Enies Lobby.

Don't feel embarrassed , as you can see with this poll, there are members older than you here
But I understand where you're coming from. It took me a bit of time lurking here before I felt okay with posting due to the perceived "age limit", I thought I was too old at first. Thankfully I learned that's not true.Yeah, I remember some sites were filled with teenagers and some actually posting really idiotic stuff. One site (manga fox) I refused to take part of the forum due to the fact that I felt the brain cells start to die as I attempted to follow the talk.

Lol…47. Okay. Yeah sure. Why are you exempt from your own silly rule? Or are you saying once you've cleared your 30's you're free to post in anime forums again?

Children still wearing diapers shouldn't disrespect their elders so.
-

Wait? now people can't express their opinion in a public forum because of their age? that makes sense if you are below 10, not above if people want to post in the forum or watch/read One Piece they can do in their 80s.
-
I started back in 2004, when I was in 10th grade, but I'm turning 24 this year. Long ass time.

A sad, sad fact that this isn't true.

I'm almost 31. Got caught by OP in a more advanced age (about 5 years ago) than most people, I think.
I have only one thing to say about it: I'll follow it until the end, as long as it takes.
The only issue I have with it (and I think it's because of my age), is that it could have a more serious tone. But I can definitely live with it as it is. :PJust one curiosity, this age distribution sort of follows a Gaussian distribution… :D
-
God, I hate it when people are like "You shouldn't do this or that with insert age anymore.".
Hey, how about people would just do the things they like regardless of their age?
Ah, no, that's not possible, because…yeah, because it is like that, you fool!I'm only 17 myself, but I'm already sick of stuff like that, lol.

I only find "some" of the people under 13 generally annoying but i totally agree
-
25, will be 26 this July but still, my heart is always young  LOL

March 2013.
We gained a paranoid gun-freak and an age-based hate monger at the same time in our roster.Lovely!

Aohige a.k.a Bluebeard is a fairytale boogeyman inspired by a real serial child killer.
Just saying.

And then they wonder why kids start smoking, drinking and taking drugs. I got quite some shit for liking anime and some other stuff, but never cared. I mean seriously, a fat underage guy with a cigarette is asking me "how does it feel to watch cartoons". Well certainly better than smoking.

Shouldn't you be drinking expensive wine and eating French cheese? 'cause only young people can read OP and drink whatever that green stuff is.

Too true, I remember getting harassed as a teen because I was reading "superhero comics" (mom always made a difference between "Real comics" and the superhero comics when she spoke about it). I was justified when a teacher told her to let me read them - they had improved my reading XD (And she meant it literally, my reading skill was 4 years higher than spelling and other skills.) What my mom didn't realize was that when I came across a words I wasn't familiar with, I would pull out the dictionary or ask my uncle about, "what does it mean, how do you pronounce it?"
I didnt' stop reading them on a weekly basis until somewhere in mid-30s … but I still pick one up at BnN sit down in the café and read XD
I mean seriously, a fat underage guy with a cigarette is asking me "how does it feel to watch cartoons". Well certainly better than smoking.
Isn't it funny how the teen that makes fun of us for something "Kiddy" is doing something stupid that they only think is cool?
-
Shit. I turned 23 at the begining of the year. I hope Oda wraps up this manga by the time I hit 30(not likely). But I cant imagine myself in my 30s with kids still getting excited over a weekly manga lol
-
Hold up. That was my friend's party…
Yeah, I'm still 13. -
16 characters of I'm 35!!! \O/
-
I was surprised that there were 50 people belonging to 30 -39 age group and 4 people in 40- 59 group .

Why so?
A wonderful story has no age entry limit.
For me OP widely surpass any other fiction.
It craps loads on LOTR and StarWars.
And in my likings it surpasses Dune.
It wouldn't be the same thing without the Japanese humour (that for many is a hard thing to understand) but a "serious version of the story" would be unparalleled in literature in my (not humble) opinion -

I haven't ever thought that people those who in 30-59 age group are interesting in reading manga . I am wrong for the time being .

I think it's related to the area in which you live.
Manga are quite frowned in USA for example…that's a whole other story in many areas of Europe like Italy (where I come from and tons of people of my age still reads manga) France and Spain...Countries were the US influence were less relevant than UK or West Germany. -

Well there's also that a lot of us started reading manga watching anime as kids or teens. I don't get why I would necessarily just drop a series when I hit a certain age. Especially if the story was still ongoing. Technically I didn't start reading One Piece till I was 23. But I did start getting into anime when I was 11 and it carried with me because I liked to draw and wanted to be an animator.
-

Because I considered it as a given :p
While even speaking with Japanese friends I realized that most of them don't know how much the manga culture is supported and enjoyed in Europe. -

-
If there were a serious version of One Piece, it WOULD probably surpass LotR and Dune.
