@igetownd:
Sanji has always been a jerk, why be upset by it now?
hehe I don't know about others, but yeah I always felt Sanji is a jerk, he was his good moments but more times he pisses me off. I usually don't say anything because in the past too many Sanji fangirls/boys start raging against any slight against Sanji. It was a waste to say anything before because there was no one I could actually talk to (vs getting yelled at)
Now seems that more people are willing to discus both pros and cons about his character.
However, Diablo Jamble against a mook?! Dude, talk about going overboard.
I got the feeling the mook was aiming in Nami's direction, if so its a typical reaction from Sanji at anyone posing any type of danger (real or Sanji-imagined) towards Nami. Heck this is the idiot that yelled at a giant fishman who caused an a rush of air (by falling after Sanji's kick) to knock Nami over. Sanji's overaction was noticed by the enemy who decided to get to Sanji by hurting Nami … who showed she did not need Sanji to protect her, she was able to handle herself.
Considering that Nami can cause her own air gust in the form of the Gust Sword allowing her to blow away any gas they shot at them, Sanji's reaction was overboard.
Also, Nami was really sweet in this chapter, but I have a feeling that she's doing this only because she likes kids.
I agree that Nami is sweet here but I don't think its as simple as her liking kids. Remember that when she returned to Arlong Park and got annoyed by Chobo, she had no qualms about using her staff to (try to) knock some sense into the kid. It wasn't because she liked him that she threw some money down to him (to pay Arlong's price just to live) it was because she understood where he was coming from (They killed his dad when he wasn't able to pay).
I'm sure the lil kids begging to be rescued reminds her of her own childhood where the Arlong Pirates invaded her island, killed her mother figure when she was 10 and forced her to join their ranks. Knowing what it feels like, she cannot turn her back on these kids.
Having sympathy for a group of kids in a hard spot isn't the same as liking kids in general.
