@Monkey:
I seriously think you people just like color for colors sake.
Nope, just like seeing things done differently. I enjoyed the chapters every time I've read them in Black & White so why wouldn't I want to see them in color?

@Monkey:
Uh, by color do you mean the actual color spreads and few color pages?
Because believe it or not, black and white is not only a legit style choice, but the style Oda's drawn everything to work in.
A colorized after the fact edition would be awful.
I actually like Dragon Ball's re-release in color in Weekly Shonen Jump. I love One Piece in Black & White, but hopefully One Piece gets this same sort of digitally colored re-release 20 years from now.
Okay I'm probably just really stupid, but how am I supposed to subscribe to weekly shonen jump? Every link I click on the website just sends me to itunes, I downloaded an app but it doesn't do anything when I click on it. Can anyone help?
You're in London, right? Do you have an iOS device such as an iPhone or an iPad? If so, then you can only read it on one of those. I think through the Newsstand app, but perhaps the Viz Media app will work as well (don't know). If not, then you can't read it yet until the service extends beyond those platforms.
Why is this thread always the one with the most drama? We're just talking about comics, right? And nobody is actually being deprived of the series.
Fans all over the world might wish they could support the official version of the series on the day of its release, but until then just continue to enjoy it the way you are now. It's not like the North American fans buying and supporting the series now weren't reading scans a year or two ago (or even now).
At the end of the day, we are all the customers in this equation. If the business with that special pie can't sell, won't sell, is not sure whether to sell, is afraid to sell, or whatever, then we suck it up and eat whatever pie is available. We still all get to eat pie and it doesn't really impact our lives. We have no skin in the game. The companies with all that pie do.
Edit: Damn, now I want pie.
They specifically said ahead of time that it was just going to be a recap of everything they had already announced.
They said at the end of their live stream that the panel would be mostly recapping their announcements this weekend. There wouldn't be any new news.
@Monkey:
What makes you think all fans know what the hell they're even talking about in regards to translation.
Most don't and I really don't either. What I do know is the Viz staff themselves have made fun of the overuse of "pirate lingo" in the early volumes. Some of it's pretty cheesy. As far as names are concerned, that's just a joke about Zolo.
Personally I don't care. I own all the volumes and will continue to buy them. I wouldn't go back and purchase a Special Edition and I wouldn't expect Viz to make one, thus the phrase "if time and money were not a factor."
A Special Edition translated only by Stephen with all names spelled exactly how we want them to be. The things that could be accomplished if time and money were not a factor for Viz or their customers. May the dreams of man never die.
Oda comes off as someone who can't say no and consequently does too much.
In other words, Oda is Japanese. That mentality doesn't go away just because you have money.
@Elektrik:
When will Funi get Hands Up on the Simulcast? It's been like weeks and it still hasn't been fixed, does anyone know if they are making progress with that?
There has been no news that I'm aware of. Here's my take on the issue though. If Funimation is being asked to provide even one more penny to the license agreement to get the new openings then they absolutely should put their foot down to Toei or the artist's recording company. Fans can always watch new openings on YouTube any time they want.
North American tv watchers are also accustomed to having one show with one opening for the life of a series. We watch it a few times then skip past it anyway. It's why Funimation puts "Marathon Mode" on their DVDs. This really only has a negative impact on Toei and whatever J-Pop artist is doing the opening and missing out on the international exposure.
Funimation has tried to get the new opening and Toei or the recording agency does not want to give it (at least not without a price). I wouldn't blame Funimation if they simply stopped trying. Hopefully, they can work out some sort of binding agreement in future licensing negotiations, but if I'm Funimation I wouldn't pay a significantly higher price for them. It's just not worth it.
