I love how Bleach showed how distraught Ichigo was over his broken sword.
One of the most interesting things about Kubo is how he remembers swords are actual persons
Except that Zangetsu don't seem to exist anymore since Ichigo didn't make any contact with him.
Not to mention that Zanpakutou are easy to repair so…

Well like…..he's certainly more interesting then Mr. LifeIsPain McIwannacutmyself, yet the stupid people voting in Japan felt the exact oposite and it makes me realy irritated.
and why exactly there will be a character that will ask why Itchigo look so sad? why?
Ichigo's "character development" will always been he want to fight his opponent or he don't want to fight his opponent (he still fight them anyways) over and over again or his "sad" "deep" looking face…

owh.. i like that guy too when he's first appeared..
I know I said I'd drop Bleach if it turned out Ichigo was somehow a Quincy from birth, but…
Yeah, no, I totes lied, this thread is way too awesome to ever see me drop Bleach
Now, for my rant.
The Kurosaki family has got to be the most ridiculously dysfunctional iron labyrinth of pointless secrets ever. Talk about familial love in name only, they barely know anything about each other and hardly ever interact with one another.
Ichigo. Karin can see spirits. Both of your sisters have been attacked by Hollows, _multiple times._You never have an excuse for why you're acting strange in your bedroom. You have no reason whatsoever not to tell them you're a shinigami. So they won't worry? THEY WORRY ABOUT YOU ALL THE TIME ANYWAY, obviously. You peerless clod.
Karin had no reason not to tell Ichigo she was visiting Urahara's shop to buy stuff for her spirit problem. The "secrecy" there is so contrived it's a travesty of logic beyond reckoning.
Isshin, however, Isshin is the worst. He has no reason he couldn't be helping Ichigo, what with his enormous burden and all. He has no reason he couldn't tell Ichigo the truth about him from the very beginning (especially in light of his mother's death), let alone after Fake Karakura. And now, he has neglected to tell Ichigo his mom was a Quincy!? WHY!? What purpose could this possibly serve? THEY ALREADY KNOW ABOUT SPIRITS. (Which also raises the very salient question, why doesn't Soul Society tell everybody on Earth what's up? Why the secrecy?)
At this rate, Yuzu will be Bach's secret lover and a being equal to 60 captains in strength, who has the power to alter the future but Bach hates that because, what is she, some sort of prophet, and so she infiltrated the Kurosaki household to make his heart grow fonder
And once again everyone seems to forget Orihime has magical reality-altering powers which could easily heal everyone and their mothers there.
How can a being that consists of spirit particles only be in a coma, anyway? And why did Byakuyas sword even disintegrate while Yamamotos sword still exists despite him being "dead" (10 bucks he's just hiding or some shit)? Nice pussying out there, Kubo.
Also it is quite obvious Kubo only added the first scene due to fanletters or something, similarly to the Orihime mention a few chapters back. That scene just appeared out of the blue and lacked context whatsoever.
For some reason, this panel killed me hahahahahaa
!
Which also raises the very salient question, why doesn't Soul Society tell everybody on Earth what's up? Why the secrecy?
Because if people knew what a jolly place Soul Society is a total anarchy would rise. Everyone will try to get the most out of their lifetime, no matter the cost. Since noone goes to hell and reincarnation exists. Even better - if you sin enough, you may become a hollow and even rise even higher. Because being a Vasto Lorde is funnier than being in soul ghetto.
Considering the chapter.
Ahaha Renji, 17 months of rigorous training to beat Aizen after he inevitably escapes. Sure thing.
Considering Aizen, I wonder if someone decided to check on him, how he is, is he even present or he decided to take a stroll.
Kubo suddenly remembered that medics are supposed to treat injuries in fight and that would make Byakuya scene even dumber if he admitted it. So he fistes in this wonderful explanation - it was his last order! No questions!
Komamura, what would you know, dog? You all bark and no bite. And he looks so funny in his panel.
Them surviving is sad. I felt zero when they 'died' but having author underline the emptiness of dramatical, several chapters long death scene with 'character development' of Douche is even more shallow. Leaves a strange aftertaste of decadence. While Zaraki's scene remains untouched. It meant nothing and did nothing. It could've shown Bach's powerlevel, but they mean shit in Bleach. And that was not even Bachbeard himself. And considering japanese r and l situation, I don't bother to pry which twin did Kenpachi.
Byakuya is alive.
I don't think I need to point out how gut-wrenchingly,nerve-wreckingly,eye-poppingly,brain-explodingly,the heart-bleachingly pointless that goddamn WASTE of pages in not one but TWO chapters has been rendered with this one simple "revelation".
How?How?HOOOOOOOW?!How is it that people can honestly look at this SHITE and not cry foul? How can certain dudes deny this and claim that Kubo doesn't waste the everloving crap out of his pages and claim that his pacing is no worse than any other manga, and, more importantly how can some peculiar individuals see this as artsy or deep?
Also:
-Yamamoto told us not to go to the battlefield under ANY circumstances.
-But we are field medics, shouldn't we kinda be there?
-That's silly. We simply sit it out and, after all is done,we scour the field and tend to whatever was lucky enough to survive. That's what field medics do!
-Yay!
-Soul Society!
Naruto: So what exactly was Kakashi's "decision" in this chapter?
God, what a pointless, slow, tedious filler chapter. There's just no enertainment to be had here and we all know we're just waiting for Kakashi's inevitable reveal for why he killed Rin.
Bleach: Yep. Kubo didn't have the balls to finish off Byakuya after all. The worst part is I'm not even that surprised by it.
@The:
I love how Bleach showed how distraught Ichigo was over his broken sword.
I love how distraught he was over the situation in general. People dead, friends in critical condition, his sword broken, the enemy still at large, But Hey! Goofy face faults!
Time for the weekly review, folks!
And once again everyone seems to forget Orihime has magical reality-altering powers which could easily heal everyone and their mothers there.
Although this is true, I really don't want Orihime to be just a healing item again. It's not her obligation or duty to heal anyone who asks for it. Plus healing everyone would drain the living hell out of her….
Bleach: lolkubo
First off, Unohana didn't get to do anything! The mighty, stronger-and-older than Ukitake and Shunsui captain doesn't get to prove why she's so strong. I honestly thought she would avenge Yama in some way. But it was the old man's last order to keep 4th Division inside? Makes sense, since you aren't supposed to leave your medics in the middle of the battlefield, but…..Yama had no problem sending her, Isane, and Hanataro to Hueco Mundo by themselves.....
I'm annoyed Byakuya SURVIVED this. I mean, the character was going out in the most pathetic way, by crying and begging Ichigo to help. Now....nah, he's okay? Either Kubo has plans for him, or he really fears fan backlash. I didn't think Kenpachi was in danger of dying, but the two maybe won't be able to return to their roles?
.....Wtf Kubo? Although Ikkaku's reaction has me thinking Kubo will make Ikkaku replace Kenpachi for a bit, against his wishes.....
And boy, did Ichigo drop the ball here. He couldn't save anyone, do anything useful, and there's so much focus on his sword being broken! Um, it's not lke zanpakutou can permanetly break?
But no, I think the funniest/worst thing is that every other captain is, you know.......OKAY? They all have bandages, but that's not the problem. Kubo hit "fast-forward" on everyone's fights. Granted, they would've dragged otherwise, but....BANKAIS WERE STOLEN. What happened here? Did they get them back? Did the Stern Ritters retreat with them (because if so, they are SCREWED)? That retreat certainly was fast, was it?
lmao at Komamura losing an ear and Shunsui now looks like a pirate
Naruto: Just fights between our heroes and Obito. Not bad I guess, but here's the damning thing to me.
Kakashi pretty much admits that he couldn't save Rin. So…..he really DID kill her? Um.....WHY? Why is Kishi so determined to not let us find the truth about all this? This is important stuff because it involves the final villain…..you want major development for the guy. Granted, Obito's reason to take over the world is petty enough, but I can't fathom this massive mystery about such a minor character dying.
I was almost afraid Naruto would jump into another peace speech, but he didn't. And it's not he has to worry about anyone dying, I bet you 50 bucks Kishi will do some mass revivial technique later on, if anyone kicks the bucket.
But god, Obito and Madara are just so…...bland and terrible final villains. Still, I don't want to go back to Sasuke and Uchiha madness.
So both chapters weren't that bad, they just didn't make a lot of sense.
You know, I could buy Yamamoto ordering Unohana to stay inside and heal the injured (even though I still think that's kind of a stretch). But the problem is that, even then, Unohana is doing literally nothing. She and Isane are just standing in that room, talking, even though we've seen that there have already been countless casulaties. Shouldn't they be helping to heal injured? Now would be a good time for Unohana to whip out that healing whale thing.
Makes sense, since you aren't supposed to leave your medics in the middle of the battlefield, but…..Yama had no problem sending her, Isane, and Hanataro to Hueco Mundo by themselves.....
Maybe someone knowledgable can correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't field medics supposed to be out their in the field?

You know what would work even better than this? Orihime…seriously
It's kind of odd to see how Kakashi is probably the only character in Naruto's to suffer from sustained damage and fatigue. And speaking of sustained damage, it has been almost a volume since Obito's reveal and two thirds of this volume are made of reused panels. Can the ways of this manga get any more artificial?
And now that I mention wasted space, why couldn't Kubo be bothered to draw some devastated landscapes of Soul Society instead of useless eye, mouth and dust close ups? After all, Soul Society is the only location that could hypothetically earn him praise for the background art. It doesn't have to be anything grand and detailed, hell, I could take a spread of ruins with 75% of it filled with rain and smoke. But it would actually, you know, illustrate the scale of destruction the quinzi have brought instead of describing it every chapter with same words.
I'm cool with Shunsui acting as the moderator for now though. The guy's okay.
@No:
Which would normaly not be bad except this is supposed to be the leader of the goddamn assasination squad and this is the second time her being overly emotional gets the better of her judgement and makes her do something stupid.
But Soifon is trying to be something more than just the walking breathing anthropomorphic personification of world's collective lust for Yoruichi here.
@No:
Well like…..he's certainly more interesting then Mr. LifeIsPain McIwannacutmyself, yet the stupid people voting in Japan felt the exact oposite and it makes me realy irritated.
But both Ulqiuorra and Yammy are less than one note simulacra of actual characters who are essentially more similar in their blandness than their initial designs would make one assume.

What I meant was the enemy here was so powerful that putting precious healers in the line of fire is NOT a good move. HM was different because it was so…..spaced out, and barely any important structures. Plus it's the enemy base, who cares it gets trashed?
Here....it's different. Seireitei is smaller. There's buildings every which way, and overall the fighting is so concentrated it's close to where the healers are. If Bach knew Aizen was under the 1st Division, I bet you he knew the healers reside at the 4th.
Still.....I just wanted Unohana to do more.
Random thought: Do the Vizards still have their hollow powers, or did they get rid of them?
@Maes:
Byakuya and Kenpachi in comas? I'd be shocked if Byakuya doesn't somehow regain his bankai through this. Same for Kenpachi finally getting his.
Considering Byakuya's bankai, he could still be just as strong sitting in a wheelchair, as long as he can move his arm to direct it faster he is just as good.
Has anyone read Mangastream's translation? It's priceless.
Considering Byakuya's bankai, he could still be just as strong sitting in a wheelchair, as long as he can move his arm to direct it faster he is just as good.
But As Nodt stole it.
That's still a pressing question, Kubo! Did the Quincies make off with the Bankais virtually unscathed, or what? From the little scenes of fighting we got, there was absolutely no indication any Captain figured out to take it back, or how the medallions even did it.
And while having all these Bankais should be a serious advantage, it's the Tsukishima principle all over again. Just because you can see it, or know about it, DOES NOT MEAN YOU KNOW HOW TO USE IT. They don't come with booklets titled "Zanpakutous 101".
And I just realized this whole ordeal removed the threat level of the Vandenreich. They couldn't take down a single Captain. Yes, Yama's dead, but that's because Bach is in a league of his own and even fought him years ago. So….what the hell? Why did they retreat?
It's not like Ichigo was a threat to them. Bach was toying with the kid and Blondie broke his sword!

For some reason they were on a time deadline.
So maybe they only have this overwhelming strength for a certain period of time. Otherwise what would be so important that they would leave without completely destroying SS or capturing Ichigo like they wanted?
But both Ulqiuorra and Yammy are less than one note simulacra of actual characters who are essentially more similar in their blandness than their initial designs would make one assume.
But considering the twist we got, the fact the latter did not get his fight shown but the emo bastard does annoys me immensely. And Kubo showcased fights with the same characters (Byakuya, Kenpachi) right in the next arc, so there's no excuse.

….But why? And I thought that was only for Bach....dude summoned the Gas Nazi bridage out of nowhere, so you think that would be the extra manpower to compensate for the leader retreating.
But then again, why didn't Bach nab Ichigo and finish the assualt by unleashing Yama's fiery zombie army on Seireitei?
Bleach chapter= Grey's Anatomy episode. Nice troll Kubo.
Bleach: Eh half and half, least we're getting some story progression even if its slow as molasses. And yeah like Kubo gonna let two fan favorites go down like chumps. Countdown to Big Damn Heroes moment. I also noticed Kubo can't seem to decide on a mood here and I find if funny the straight laced Soi Fon is the first to lash out when someone's trying to report to her.
Naruto: Ugh too chaotic, I couldn't even tell what was happening half the time. Most I got was that Obito's berserk button being pushed, Kakashi needing a kick in the pants and more Naruto "I'm not gonna let you hurt them" moment.
The content of Naruto was rather blah, but I felt the art and layout was much better than it's been in the past, so I'll at least give it that much.
No matter how u put it. There isn't any logical explanation for the absence of the 4th division
If they go into the battlefield, they have the risk of getting killed as well. But that's what medics do!! They put their life on the line to try and save others. Its stupid to just bunk up and try to save whoever they have left
Tell them to sit tight. They MIGHT keep their lives, but: 1). What good will that do if everyone else is dead. 2). There is no guarantee that the Quincies aren't going to attack their base. They penetrated to Aizen's keep, so the only thing prevented them from hitting the medical base is…..pure luck? "Guys, just sit tight in ur base and hope they didn't spot u there. With luck u should survive this one"
But who am I kidding, this manga has no traces of common sense left
I'm just surprised they didn't go for the 4th.
The Stern Ritters brutually assaulted the research department (12th), so….

SPEAKING OF WHICH…..
I think ever since Whitebeard died and made an impact, Kubo has wanted to do something similar, in which he just did. Now the question is: Can he follow through?
Whitebeard's death (and the arc it was in), has changed the OP-verse greatly: Akainu is admiral, Sengoku & Garp resigning, Aokiji out of the marines, Blackbeard's rise to power, and reigniting the Golden Age of Piracy (the last 2 being directly caused by Whitebeard's death)
What I want to see is, what impact will old Yama's death create in Bleach-verse? (Wait. It's ridiculous. Let me rephrase:"What impact will it have on Soul Society?"…. Damn it's still ridiculous...... One more time:"What impact will it have on the Gotei 13?")
We don't care/like Yama anywhere near enough for Kubo to try a replicate what Oda pulled off with Whitbeard's death.

SPEAKING OF WHICH…..
I know it was attacked the same chapter that kid Rin cried for Ichigo. And the Quincy….Shaz Domino? had impaled knives in Akon before Ichigo arrived.
Yet Mayuri is mysteriously absent in all this (in fighting AND the meeting in this chapter). My guess is that he knew he'd be #1 on the Quincy hitlist, so he bailed.

No, Mayuri is examining Ichigo's sword. Why he didn't fight? Because his fighting style needs like days of planning so he sucks.
@Sonic:

Oh right. Still, he didn't appear in the fighting scenes. No Quincy noticed him or even brought him up.
And his Shikai can paralyze. His Bankai can poison. For crying out loud, he has a needle that can slow down a person's body significantly while speeding up their sense of time (i.e how he beat Szayel). All of that could easily catch a Stern Ritter off guard.
Ah, I keep reading Naruto just to see Sasuke and Orochimaru's x-files conspiracy/templar ninjas world domination plan.
The infinite sharingan jest I call it. Man, that's going to be a good laugh.
I have to agree with an earlier poster: Wouldn't the 4th division be the first place to destroy for the vandenreich? Especially if they were all gathered up in one place. Even if Unohana was there, I'm sure Bach could have ended her as easily as he ended Yama, and he would've gotten more out of that than he did with the whole aizen thing
Lol in the mangastream translation there's a random One Piece page in Naruto (next page) xD
Did Komamura lose weight? His head looks smaller .
Anyway i enjoyed the interactions in Bleach for most part.
Naruto: yeah confusing to follow and for a chapter had Guy and Kakashi doing something i was quite bored.
Time for a new thread title: Byakuya lives? why dont you shut up?
speaking of mayuri being absent from battles, why didnt vizard captains fight or at least shown standing up to some of stern ritters? (shinji just stood around making comments and others werent even shown)

I only saw Rose getting pissed over that dark skinned Quincy.
Come to think of it…..the Vizards have a set advantage with their powers. And it's not like they didn't have a century+ to learn how to control it, because they did. Why wasn't it shown?

Now that Yamamoto is dead, who's gonna be the next captain commander? Shinsui, Aizen, Obama??
@Tsukishima: Toss up between Obama and Shunsui. Romney sounded a lot like Yamamoto so yeah Obama lol.Seriously though, I can't say the Bleach chapter was good, as I said to my friend it was fine, meaning "slightly above ok" as opposed to "dayum dat was fine y'all". As you can tell I'm both too British and autistic (I am both in reality) to grasp and utilise Americanisms well haha
The best part of the latest bleach chapter is knowing that Kenpachi is still alive.
