it will be hard to top "We Go". We had this song for like a year or two now. i still enjoy watching and listening to it. hoping for the best!!!
Opening 16: "Hands Up", 14th April.

Does anyone have a sample of what the guy sounds like?

Told you guys the new opening wouldn't start till April.
-
Huh.
What if another reason this opening took so long is because of the "next arc". This new opening may continue until the early parts of the next arc.

Same singer:
Thats not the same singer, the band who did it called AAA and they don't have any member named Shinzato Kouta.
I don't have on him any information at all. -

I don't have on him any information at all.Yes it is. AAA made Episode of Nami's version of We are! This is Episode of Luffy's version.

On to the topic at hand, I'm not a big fan of Shinzato's We Are but that may just be a problem with that recording or something
-

Yup. From the start I knew both versions sounded too different to be the same thing.
Speaking of; the ep of Luffy "We Are" was probably the most lackluster in my opinion, so I hope the guy steps his game up with Opening 16, and he should be able to seeing as it'll be an original song and not a cover, so I'm not too worried.

My mistake, I thought they the same voices and wiki one piece listed it as AAA.
-
This is good news. I hope it is not to spoiler heavy for the anime viewers. I remember when i was an anime only viewer catching up to the series and one of the openings spoiled for me Robin joining the crew.

@The:
I'm getting vibes from a few different J-pop bands I like mixed together. I was worried it would be another opening 12, but it doesn't sound too bad so far. I'll have to wait to hear the whole thing to judge it, though.
-
Wait, isn't that "I can't defeat Airman"?.
-
Not understanding Bepo in that little montage.
@Miss:
I much rather have longer openings than the shit they pulled from Impel Down to the timeskip. Which was a bunch of different openings crammed together with not enough time to shine. Having them last longer make them more meaningful.
Other than 'Fight Together,' the openings in that span were pretty weak. When youre watching one episode a week, it never seems like an opening hasnt been there long enough. If every opening went for as long as We Go, we'd have 9-10 right now instead of 15…
-
Wait, isn't that "I can't defeat Airman"?.
Yes, that is indeed エアーマンが倒せない, a song about Mega Man by a group called Team Neko-can that I spent three months memorizing four summers ago so I could sing it at karaoke, but then none of the karaoke places had it in their libraries.
That is not the new OP opening.
EDIT: And I can't find any connection between Airman and the new OP opening, so I think the creator of that video is just an obnoxious idiot making an "announcement." -
got me all excited n shit
smh
-
That said, I'm all in favor of Airman being used as an OP OP. It's a metaphor for Law wanting to beat Kaidou, but he can't do that until he beats Dofla/cuts off SAD, but he can't do that until he kidnaps Caesar, which is the point of this arc.

Isn't one of Buffalo's moves called… Matasaburo?

Indeed it is.
Pointing out that connection in a translator note was one of my proudest moments. -

Fight Together is one of the best openings the anime's ever had and it was like the shortest. That, in my book, is unforgivable.

I agree about it being the best opening. Nostalgia is a great tool if used properly, and Fight Together used it perfectly.
-
One Day was the best in my opinion, and I hope the new OP will be like "Brand New World".

It is my favourite one too, along with Fight Together, Bon Voyage and We Are. I'm really excited for this new opening, only 4 days left :p
-
Next Opening they will chose Justin Bieber.
-
I actually don't like the current opening. It's made the anime harder to watch for me. The one during the war of the best was bad for me too. Other than that I've loved every opening. Fight together was one of my favorites though
-
You know the opening can be skipped… right?
-
Only hate this song hope the rest of it good.

It's not the actual song…
-
@The:
I hate it when Youtubers do shit like this.
-
-
Besides, when have we ever got a preview of the opening?
We Go! was actually heard a few days early. They used it in a video game trailer.
-

Gotta love how people is quick to hate even 18 seconds of a fake opening.
-
very interesting that a niconico band would be used for a one piece anime op
methinks otakua re catching on in the mainstream?
-
@Galaxy:

Even then that was only the instrumental version. We didn't get trailers with the actual vocals until after the anime premiered it.
-
I also distinctly recall hearing a preview of Share the World a while before that song premiered. Which initially made me dislike the song before even seeing the opening. (And then once it actually came out in the show I suddenly found that it was a lot better than I had initially gotten the impression of.)

Oh. You'd think I'd remember that. Oh well, from what I remember there was not a voice attached to it.
Anyways my opinion on the fake opening, although it was very good, I gotta say it was very unfitting for one piece

"One Piece returns this Saturday night with a brand new episode on http://onepieceofficial.com/ and Hulu!
Unfortunately, we will not be able to premiere the new OP song, "Hands Up!," for Episode 591. We're working as quickly as possible to address this issue, so please bear with us.
We're hoping to have this matter resolved by next week's episode."
^ from the One Piece Facebook page…
-
This doesn't bode well for it ever getting dubbed.
Ah, who am I kidding? Exempting Toei-owned ones, dubbed songs are a thing of the past. :(

Doesn't change when we see it, it'll still be put up on Youtube a bit after airing.
-
Well. At least raws exist.
-
Have to admit that I'm super disappointed in FUNimation and Toei for letting this happen. I can generally understand dub rights issues, but it's a little ridiculous for a simulcast to not be able to broadcast the original episode.
-
Funi and Toei are really dropping the ball right now.

I try to support FUNi as much as I can, but I have to admit I was pretty annoyed to hear this as well.
No matter what I'll be seeing the new opening, even if through illegal means, but it would have been nice to get it on the simulcast properly.
-
For the record, One Piece was not the only Toei show they were having issues with songs during the simulcast. FUNimation had to pull, if I recall, two ending songs for Toriko during the simulcast.

I don't watch Toriko, but that just lowers my respect for both Toei and Funimation another notch. In getting these songs for the opening and endings of their shows, Toei should be clearing the way for broadcast in other countries. Liscensing issues for older songs is understandable, but anime has long since become a global market and right now, many anime are simultaneously broadcasted online to other countries. Both companies should be working well in advanced with the artists to secure rights.
-
It really says a lot when a new opening not yet aired gets me through the second half of my week.
-
I'm Confused …
that means no new opening this week ?! -

That's rather rude. FUNimation can only stream what they are allowed to.
