Why does Naruto come out 9000 hours earlier than OP?
To my knowledge it's because One Piece usually has more text than Naruto or Bleach. That's not always the case, but to release something as early as possible One Piece is done last.

@Geg:
Wait they can't play the opening on their own show? Why would copyrights be a problem
Music licenses are held differently. This happens a lot when licenses expire. Plenty of newer releases for old television shows have a completely different opening since they don't want to pay money to renew the license for just a DVD release. They should have it for next week's episode.
Someone just told me that the very first line of the opening is in German.
"They're the food and we're the hunters."
Also I'm not a fan of the animators prettying the character design. It just feels more realistic to have more rugged looking characters. I'll probably get used to it.
The fact that she's directly behind Chopper, the smallest crewmate, should have alerted you that it's just the perspective.
I know how it's supposed to be, it's just that my mind can't properly comprehend it at a glance.
@Nex:
Which is a shame since that's when the color spreads were :/
I thought those were well done. I wish there were more though.
I think it's a good thing I didn't have expectations too high, because I really enjoyed the opening.
!
There's nothing messed up about that. You said it yourself, it's the perspective. Nami and Chopper are closer to the "camera".
To me it looks like she's the same distance away from the camera as Robin and Zoro. It just doesn't look right to me.

Posting my thoughts from the episode thread:
I've listened to it a couple of times now, ignoring the visuals, and the song has already grown on me quite a bit. I've always liked One-Piece's more mellow openings. In fact, they tend to be my favorite (Fight Together is my favorite–both on a musical, lyrical, and visual level)
The only thing that bothers me about this new opening is the visual aspect (though verdict is out on lyrical as I have no idea what they're saying.)
Also, am I the only person really bothered by that final image? It just looks bad.
The whole second half of the opening is animated terribly. It's like they just became lackadaisical and half-assed it.
I still can't get over the perspective near the end. How do you mess that up so badly? Nami looks enormous.
That was a little subpar, honestly. I like the perspective at the end, Nami seemed to tower over everyone.
