There's nothing about it that would make some sense of him removing magical properties of a sword by encasing it in a layer of ice. It's poorly thought out crap is what I'm saying.

Maybe his ice is colder than normal ice ?

I see it a bit like Yamamotos bankai when he was younger - "Bach" was suprised that there were no flames around Old Man when he activated his bankai and we seen painting of Yama being on fire. So I guess it worked same way as Hitsu current state - having pretty wide area of influence and burning all around him to crisp.

Beside, poorly thought out crap in world of souls ? Maybe spirit energy can be frozen? How can you tell?

You're talking stuff about it making sense when he has a magic sword plus it got frozen by another person using magic ice and when they get frozen in most role playing games it does stop working its normally done against the spell caster himself/herself to stop the spell they're casting.

In other words a wizard did it lol.

It's not so much about freezing in relation to magical items as it is about Kubo serving crap and not even bothering to put some thought into it. It's like he thought it would be cool to create a guy that gets bigger and more powerful the more he gets hurt and just went with it but then realized this guy still needs to be defeated somehow. Enter corner cutting.

As for the point if you dont see how pointless is pointing out bullshit on moutain of bullshit(from physics perspective, not established word).
For example Luffy from One Piece is

! immune to all kinds of poison in One Piece- he created antibodies to all sorts of poisonous chemistry. Does it make sense ? Not really but that is how it was established. In Bleach ice is so effective that it can freeze even energy ? As flawled as it already was from physics perspective its pretty weird for me to concentrate on it and trying to make it valid complaint.

They probably need to freeze and break core of G-man. That Quincy Cross that we seen chapter ago. At least thats what I expect here. Tearing off his head will not be enough as things look right now.
It is like beating video game boss until his "core" shows up and then attacking it.. things go into this direction. Soul King heart should be really difficult to be broken/ beaten as it looks so very likely all 3 of Captains will need to work together to break it.

And yea I guess that cheesy one-liner from each of them is incomming when G-man finally gets grinded.

I expected the idea would to freeze so that he wouldn't have suffer any physical damage that let him regenerate. I did not expect to be something like your magic doesn't work if it's frozen. It seems like a weird limit.

The logic being that for something to even proclduce any effect, it means that some particles must move and make it happen.

What teen shrimpo is claiming Is that his first attack froze even those subatomic Particles, so the magical effect couldn't even trigger.

That of course is assuming that these particles behave like a liquid and not electricity. And that is stupid.

Anyways, yeah. Hitsugaya's bishonen upgrade pretty much gives him the advantage all the way through, including within-four-second freeze everything? But Gerard is a stubborn one, and he doesn't go down too easily. Kenpachi (off-screen) in his regular mode cuts his feet or something, than Byakuya unleashes an attack….that actually looks pretty killer.

Although really, this fight could've gone to the Vizards or Shinji/Momo team-up, not three captains that get overexposure as is.

I kinda feel that this borrowed from Nanao-Lille and Urahara-Askin, in that here comes the very specific power and/or skills to shut down the seemingly invincible god Quincy. I think part of this lies in whatever abstract power Kubo gives to the Stern Ritters, so the established zanpakutou has to do something also abstract to fight in the same field.

It's hard to appreciate a teamwork when the ones doing it don't seem to put all their spirit into it. It is still a teamwork regardless, but damn. Watching a pack of wolves hunting their prey still feels a lot more engaging than this.

As horrible as this chapter was, I cringe at how horrible Ichigo's fight with Bach will be. I think it will be safe to leave all common sense, physics, critical thinking, deductive reasoning, knowledge of Bleach, and anything else that might make you question how things are unfolding at the door.

Oh god….at least these elite Stern Ritter fights have some cool visuals and things going on that capture your eye.

Ichigo is super vanilla and so is Bach.

Doubtless it's going to involve a lot of concepts and powers that are invented on the spot, that had zero build up or precedent for their existence. Also, a bunch of "transformation" power-ups to give Kubo an excuse to change their clothes constantly.

The problem is that he kicked aside a team that was already fighting him, for characters that didn't need more spotlight. Why bother developing other characters when you can just reuse the same three for everything?

In before none of this crap works, because why should it (bullshit ice logic aside), and Shinji activates his Bankai, which reverses his enemies abilities and so they pound on the poor guy until he's so small they can't see him any more.

With the newest volume releasing in Japan next week that will give the Blood War arc 18 volumes (which means it's only 2 away from matching the Soul Society arc and 10 away from matching the entirety of the Arrancar arc)

The Arrancar arc took 28 volumes? Is that from Yammy and Ulquiorra's first appearance to Aizen's defeat?

18 volumes and the feeling almost nothing of relevance happened. For most of it, this arc could be replaced with a databook saying what was the shikai/bankai/whatever of each character with an image attached to it, it has mostly been merely a power up exposition.

That surprised me at first, given the posts about how the blood war has taken up over a quarter of the total manga, then again that's 18 out of how many volumes and the Arrancar arc was pretty lengthy on its own, so I probably am not thinking it through fully.

I'm guessing it's going to be something like ichigo goes so fast with his bankai and volstandig (because why not:getlost:) that Bach can't see him rendering 1000 years of build up of his super op ability completely moot
