Yeah, I know. I want to learn Spanish first and foremost because it's the language I'm most likely to run into in my life followed by Dzongkha.

Okay, I was going to leave it at that and have the silly sarcastic answer. But. Game called "My Japanese coach." Probably not the best nor most efficient teacher, but its a better use of my travel time than playing Mario Kart.
I've also got a mess ton of japanese manga that I'm casually trying to "read" as practice. And by read, I mean translate the characters into sounds, as opposed to actual translation, obviously. (Kind of annoying, because even after getting the reading part down, I'll still basically be at square one and only where I would be if I was learning say, Spanish, from scratch.)
But for now, the gameboy. My hope is to get some basics from the game and then go from there. Its got a built in lesson plan structure and flash card style method that seems to be what I need. I was never able to make myself study in school.
But hey. If cheaptrick can learn it to any degree, so can I!

Yeah. And the rigid uhm… lesson plan. As a result I can read the chart at this point, but still having a trouble picking things out on their own and randomized. And the diacritics blow my mind. But, better than where I was!

It's funny because I mostly learned english by playing my Mega Drive/Genesis when I was a teen. (Then I started playing pen-and-paper RPGs, and since translated ones were rare, I had to buy imported ones. That helpes my vocabulary a lot.)
(Though english is easier to learn because it's everywhere and uses the same characters and letters as my native language…)

I also learned a long time ago not to pay attention to people who extrapolate complex theories because all it succeeds in doing is confusing themselves and being wrong. People will say crazy stuff and it's not really my problem if they're interpreting things wrong.

Okay, maybe he's not going to march into the remnants of MF and take on the Admirals, but for most things we would consider 'difficult' situations for Luffy, Rayleigh can basically yawn through.
This opens so many, many possibilities.
Given Chopper's reaction I'll restate some of my ideas:
1. He's at Enies Lobby.
2. He's at ID (IF it was ever reported he was there to begin with)
3. Assaulted a tenryuubito.
I'm still under the belief that he's done (as per Rayleigh's idea) something incredibly stupid not only from their perspective, but from our's as well. Something that we'd read that would leave non-believers thinking the series has jumped the shark, but Oda intends to wrap it around with an incredible twist that has a nice bow on it so it's not some drawn-out arc.
Sadly (or luckily) for me this is all going down while I'm on vacation so I won't have a FRIGGING CLUE what's up until the 8th of August. I envy you guys big time but it's gonna be a blast to read 3-4 chapters in a row for the first time since the war began.

Considering everyone here (myself included) jumped ot the natural "Oh well, now there's an off camera haki training arc", and that Chopper is "seeing Lufy's new bounty!" I like your idea a lot better. It fits the evidence rather well, and like you said, Rayleigh being there and specifically saying "You don' have to if you don't want to, but…"
makes me think that, yes, it probably is something crazier than chiling out on an island for 2 weeks next to a woman in love with you and training. Since Rayleigh is like a cheat code.
The ONLY thing I have against it, and its not a dealbreaker at all, is that Oda is usually pretty good about having a text box announce "several days later" or "a little bit earlier". Without such things, I'm prone to believe these incidents are happening at pretty much the same time.
But the fact that we, by and large, all guessed the same thing and came to the same conclusions makes me hope that no, thats' not the case, because that would be pretty predictable from Oda.

Eh, I really think Chopper is just reacting to Luffy's bounty rising again. I don't see Oda giving us a curveball adventure using an emotionally distraught Luffy.

However, I don't think it's something that should shock Chopper.
It's possible to suggest that Luffy's role in the war was covered up, but given the broadcast and announcement regarding his relation to Dragon, that probably wouldn't work so hot.
Thus, if Luffy's role in the war is well known, a bounty raise should be expected and not the least bit shocking.
But Chopper being naive you just never know I guess.

Could be. But looking at the chapter title, where Rayleigh and Luffy's conversation dropped off, and the note the chapter ended on, I think they might be related.
Not something I'm certain of, it could fizzle out, but it seems like a route he might take.
I'm also tailoring this theory to fit both a possible time-skip or lack of.
It could be possible Rayleigh wants him to spend a certain amount of time somewhere specific.
Playing devil's advocate to myself, if all he wants to do is give him haki training, I dunno why he'd have Luffy go elsewhere when the AL girls are all about it.

It makes me even more certain that yes, she and Luffy will end up married, (or promise to be married or something) since its now been brought up a couple of times.
But also certain that she can't join the crew, because there's just no way to keep that up for the next ten years. Even Sanji doesn't do his shtick as non-stop and uncontrollably, or… genuinely. And Oda's adamant "No romancing" stance. (Though if Alvida is still after Luffy, him telling her "Oh, I'm married" next time would be amusing.)
The Goku/Chichi example keeps coming up, but its a lousy one, since Luffy DOES know the difference between men and women, and what marriage entails, and because he IS indebted and thankful to Hancock for the multitude of things she risked and did for him. But also because Oda's not going to completely rip off his inspiration in that regard. He's always going to be in Dragonball's shadow, and he loves it, but that doesn't mean he's going to do any given thing like Dragonball.
Not sure how Oda will handle this aspect, since its a totally different subject than he's broached before.

You work a booth while standing and selling for 12 hours a day, then walking around town to get food and socilize with buisness/friends you haven't seen in a year, then get back to the hotel at 1AM, only to have to get up at 7… yeah. Internet isn't a priority during a week where other things you can't do all year are available and sleep and rest is a much nicer commodity.

If its a ridiculously HUGE bounty, it makes some sense. Especially considering the previous raise was what… 4 weeks ago in OP time?
I used to be against luffy getting a huge jump due to all his contemporaries in Supernovas and Warlords topping out at 340... but he's done a LOT in the last 80 chapters, and it IS the new world coming up.
And then you consider that a Tenryubiito was willing to blow 500 million on a mermaid they expected to be eaten by piranha? (The highest sum we've seen in the series. And the Thousand Sunny cost 300 mill to make...) And the strawhats HIT three of of them? That alone should skyrocket their reward to unheard of levels. Even if the WG doesn't want to give a ridiculously high bounty... the nobles can always offer a BONUS on top of whatever raise Luffy is getting for Moria/ID/MF/Dragon connection/haki.
It worked well in Lone Wolf and Cub.

That is my assumption, Chopper is the type to get excited about almost anything it seems. But for Oda to end it as a cliffhanger as a fan I would prefer it be something more than just a bounty increase. I am fine with it being that, but to do so seems like sort of a false advertising.

I'd take that over all of his exploits escaping ID.
I'm not sure if I like the idea of him having a bigger bounty right now though.
I know that means fuck-all since I'm not writing it but still besides showing that he has Haoushoku at an elementary level, he hasn't done anything that warrants a higher bounty from the 'strength' aspect of the bounty while the 'threat' level he poses after being publicly ousted has been significantly upped.
But yeah back to Tenryuubito point.

Well now that I know the translation was ambigious and not necessarily what Stephen used then I'm with the people who think that Kuma knew where he was sending them. This whole mind reading their desires stuff just seems like a bunch of unnecessary convolution to attribute Kuma's ability.

The government is aware Usopp and Sogeking are the same guy (or at least Kuma was) so its a non-issue. A bounty increasy will be a bounty increase for him.
Its easy to overlook the importance of that event because Luffy slugged royalty before (Wapol and Vivi) and Gods, and then the crew got scattered before any huge amount could be made of it, AND WERE PRESUMED DEAD, but… it was a incredibly big unprecedented deal. I mean, the immediate response was to send an admiral and a bunch of pacifista psuedo-warlords.
And then you consider how far reaching their power goes when you start thinking abou Luffy's flashback...
It'll have bigger reprecussions yet. Bounties are the least of it.

If you just stop and think for a second, you'll realizeit's pure logic that Kuma's victims hit solid ground. Luffy was sent flying for two days. The angle for that has to be rather parallel with the atmosphere or he'll end up in space. This given, he'll continue to decend slowly while going laps in the selected angle, but he won't suddenly stop and drop. Rather, he'll continue at a rather solid angle until something gets in the way. Now I ask of you, is he more likely to hit the ocean or an island above ocean level?
If anything, Kuma has a few directions in his book for certain islands, or he might end up sending someone in a direction without land (Red Line, maybe…) I think Perona was either lucky or Kuma knew that island was in the right angle and just took a shot. ;)
