The inspiration from Batolomeu Português is clearly plausible scenario. And the parallels with Blackbeard/Whitebeard/Thatch case would be really interesting, whatever the outcome to the plot. Yet, is it a bit too soon to narrow it to Bartolomeu Português, no? Bartolomeu Dias and Bartholomew Roberts are also strong possibilities (even thought the second "seems" to be already taken by Kuma, but that could be argued to Português as well…).

Great Teacher Onizuka, a classic. I remember the scanlations on the web were terrible. Still, one of my all time favourites.
