I'll accept that the day that the crew was shown, someone else must have checked chapter 1 and noticed it, but that it's already named? Nah, where's proof?
It was named in One Piece Blue.

Wow… now I'm more hyped for Databook Green/Pink/Purple/Black/Whatever.

Agreed. I can't wait to find out the name of Doma's monkey.
Luffy temporarily gives up on being pirate king, and goes around pillaging marine ships, and other things
Anyways no news of a databook huh ? How often do those things even come out ? Cause there's lots of thing stil need naming .

Shouldn't the title be something like Turbulent Ambition? The current one is way too abstract to be directly meaningful, which IZN'T WHAT DA KIDZ STRIVE 4.
About the Kuina/Tashigi thing I've mentioned earlier. It was heavily implied that Ivankov was the one who went to the dojo. So if there's something to the idea that Kuina joined the revolution (and was faking her death because of it) could it be that Ivankov's ability might have infected Kuina's/Tashigi's memory? You know, a spy/sleeper that doesn't even know that he is one is quite ideal, no? :ninja:
Sorry, im a freaking idiot, but do you think Sabo is alive because of what Dragon said in the chapter about 'an injured guy?"

Um, I can see where this is going, but faking a funeral? It seems like a whole convoluted story would be needed to explain why Kuina's father went with it and why Zoro wasn't involved. Or why a child would even be considered useful for this role.
But, I do find it a huge coincidence that the character that had issues with her gender may have met Ivankov, though I hope that's all it is.

That and because Oda flashbacked within a flashback to the night of the day Sabo was attacked by the world noble and presumed dead (within the story) to have Dragon say that.
@AdmiralYonkouMt.Bandit:

Ahhhh, thanks, i get it now
Exactly. If it was "lol some random guy" the narration to go back to the day is totally unnecessary.
Unless someone's claiming this is all misleads so Oda can go "LOL U TROLLED".
That's not like Oda at all. When he does unexpected stories, that's exactly what it is. Just unexpected. Not falsely misled bait switch pulled out of his ass.
Franky-House decided they won't do it anymore? They gave a reason why?
There is a group called LegendManga who is doing the OP scanlations using Cnet's translation in the last weeks. I read their releases on Mangatoshokan. Though they still are in chapter 587.
Anyway, I always go to Mangahelpers to see if Cnet has released a new translation and read it there.
I read frankyhouse post somewhere that they are dropping one piece for now. About LegendManga… there has been no activity from them since MH banned scans (they were based on MH with no site of own). I am thinking to start scanlating with cnet's... though mine will be total crap lol
and speaking of cnet, his trans is out and he translated the relevant part as
@cnet:
[Box: Let us take a brief step back in time… / ...to the eve of the day the Tenryuubito ship arrived in the Goa Kingdom.]
People: Hyahh~~~~!! // Did you see that person back there?! With that huge face…! // Check it out... the ship is gigantic, too! // 580... // 581...
[Box: This is a small port town… in a certain region of East Blue.]
Ivankov: Dragon! You're late! / How long did you plan to keep me vaiting?!!
Dragon: Sorry.
People: Ahh… // Hey... somebody treat these wounds, quickly!! // This is terrible...!!
Dragon: How are we doing for provisions?
People: The people of the village dojo were kind enough to provide us with food.
Dragon: Let us set sail. / We return to Baltigo!!
Um, I can see where this is going, but faking a funeral? It seems like a whole convoluted story would be needed to explain why Kuina's father went with it and why Zoro wasn't involved. Or why a child would even be considered useful for this role.

She had issues with gender roles, not lacking a penis.
She obviously had severe penis envy.
Great chapter. The flashback had a nice satisfying ending, with it tying up loose ends and all.
We still don't know exactly what happened to Sabo, but I personally think he's alive. Something tells me Oda wouldn't just kill off a character right after he introduced him. And page 8 seemed like some serious foreshadowing that he's alive.
I felt so bad for Luffy on the last few pages. I hope he doesn't stay like this for too long. I get the feeling he's gonna be a lot different when he meets up with the Strawhats again.
That would explain Tashigi's urge to always fight Zoro.
On the whole Ivankov/Kuina thing, I kinda wonder how Ivankov's hormone altering ability's negative effects are going to bring. Luffy got nailed by his abilities once or twice during the war to heal his stamina. Ivankov warned Luffy that it would remove 10 years of his lifespan on each jab. But I've always wondered about this…
Does this mean that he wouldn't live by the age of 100 for example, and only live until 80? Or would it actually speed up his age so that he hits his 20's-30's at a much faster rate after this flashback? That would kinda explain Oda's whole "Luffy's last adventure as a 17 year old". Also, it would kinda hint on Kuina/Crocodile being one and the same (hence Crocodile's secret with Ivankov). But it'd be a bit awkward.

Well, I'm under the assumption that the healing hormones are the only ones that took 10 years off (and Luffy was hit with that only once, so that's still at 10)…
...I don't know the effects of the vigour (stamina) hormones, which gave Luffy plenty of energy to move along (without rest). We know he got stabbed with that at least twice (in ID, and in MF), so I assume the only negative effects on that could be a severe crash or something (and not 10 years off your life for every use like the healing hormones)...
...or, I could be wrong...

Especially consider Crocodile is twice the age Kuina would be right now.
starshock12's post was pretty bad.

No you got it wrong, first there was the healing hormones wich by healing Luffy from poison took 10 years, then vigour hormones that was used twice and allowed Luffy to forget fatigue, but it doesn't remove lifespan, so only 10 years were lost.

I understood that if Luffy had to live normally 100 years, he'd only live 90

That was about Strong World.

God no !
Dragon and co. stopped at Zorro's Island before Kuina vs Zorro happened, so no.
CNET's trans must be inaccurate because his say the eve of the Tennryuubito's arrival. As a matter of fact his trans are how I originally thought the scene went with the trash people asking for aid.
Ivotas, I'm with you 100% on the Kuina thing if NOT for the man himself shooting it down in US Jump:
Why does Tashigi look like Zolo's old friend Kuina?
Sensei answered…
It's just a coincidence. There's no backstory like Tashigi turns out to be Kuina's sister or something...[Laughs]

that came out of YOUR mind??
damn, you don`t want rly something like that to happen,do you?
just to make a few arguements against it on a serious note for the hell of it:
-why does she have to be "dead" for all the people she loved, to work for the revolutionaries?
-i get the point that Tashigi could be a spy ,because she thinks about the actions she sees and that the WG "could be wrong"..
but didnt she already stated her goal..get all the famous swords from pirates. -is Tashigi nor a bit weak for a brainwashed Kuina? -wouldn
t we have some hints from Oda when he wnated to give us such a twist?
The Kuina being a revolutionary theory/secrely Tashigi seems rather silly.
I mean come on. If she met Ivanokov and had any idea of his abilities, she'd be a man now and get all that muscle mass she so desired.
I read frankyhouse post somewhere that they are dropping one piece for now.
That is sad…

Let me know if you do, something not so good is better than nothing.
and speaking of cnet, his trans is out and he translated the relevant part as
Hmmm… The "eve" thing seems to be wrong, I gonna post on the translation thread to ask him about it.
Oda shot down the Tashigi/Kunia theories in an issue of the American SJ.
Wow. You guys do remember that Kuina is dead right? She one of the scant few characters whose dead body was ACTUALLY shown on the panel. Kuina faking her death doesn't make any sense at all.
Don't bash me please but I just wanted to say that I also didn't get the panel with dragon while reading mangastream translation. However, reading it here with Aohige translation (and even sleepy fans translation) made it clear that dragon did in fact rescue someone.
Maybe it's because English is my second language. Since in my opinion, Mangastream made it a bit complicated for me. And the panel did leave me confused a bit.
I'm not trying to revive the argument, I just wanted to point it out that people not getting it might be because English is their second language.
Don't bash me please :ninja:
frankyhouse translation????
Ivotas, I'm with you 100% on the Kuina thing if NOT for the man himself shooting it down in US Jump:
Thank you for digging that up and destroying this theory before it got too big! I don't know how anyone forgot about that! That US Jump had some interesting questions answered.
Though knowing that Ivankov was the one who entered the dojo to get food, it would be awesome if there was some sort of dialogue between Kuina and Ivankov, that won't be brought up until Zoro meets him himself.
frankyhouse translation????
This is what happens when you type while doing something else facepalm
I meant sleepy fans translations.
Thanks for correcting me .
ya know, this theory has given me the mental imagine of Ivankov visiting that little swordsmanship dojo, digging up Kuina's body, and using his or her crazy techniques to revive her unveiling that the lame doctors there only thought she was dead.
Why? Who knows but it's fucked up.
Wow. You guys do remember that Kuina is dead right? She one of the scant few characters whose dead body was ACTUALLY shown on the panel. Kuina faking her death doesn't make any sense at all.
Her body was shown? I don't remember that.
@Kairouseki:

I'm pretty sure at the funeral they showed her body, with a cloth over her head, but I'm not sure.
I'm pretty sure at the funeral they showed her body, with a cloth over her head, but I'm not sure.
Here it is:
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/5/16/
Unless Kuina is faking and her father is supporting the deception, she's dead, Jim.
Still, this theory is only around because of how damn confusing Tashigi's presence in the story is. She's a twin of Zoro's dead friend. Too weak to fight Zoro, so she can't be a rival (or will she) yet she can beat countless faceless minions even while injured. She's following the crew thanks to Smoker, so she's going to do something…but what? This character is a living question and none of her appearances give her any development. The last thing we learned about her is that she looks pretty hot in a tank top.
Dear god I hope Kuina doesn't end up as a damsel in distress or something lame like that.
Never focused on Tashigi much. I just figured she'd end up being strong enough to fight Zoro before or after he becomes the best swordsman.
There could be a twist coming up though. Nothing like she's Kuina or related to her but maybe something involving Mihawk.
Or maybe she could just end up dying.
CNET's trans must be inaccurate because his say the eve of the Tennryuubito's arrival. As a matter of fact his trans are how I originally thought the scene went with the trash people asking for aid.
Yes, if that posted script is indeed CNet's it's inaccurate.
It clearly says the night of the day Tenryuubito arrived at the Goa Kingdom.
It's kinda rare for CNet to make such a rudimentary mistake…
He probably thought 'eve' would sound good, but forgot its more common meaning. Aside from 'the night preceding an event/day' it can also simply mean 'the evening', so he isn't wrong but (like 'gaol' IMO) it was a poor choice.
someone did ask cnet about. lets see what he says. but with the insane amount of manga that he translates, i wont blame him for making occasional mistakes
Perhaps CNET meant to say evening.
Maybe when CNET was translating 日の夜(hinoyoru, day's night) the translator rushed and wrote down eve, meaning to go back and write it properly?
It is very rare of them to make translation errors.
I will laugh my ass off if she ever turns out to be alive…
Oh jeez...
I know this isn't true, and in no way shape or form could be... But what if the injured person they are talking about... Is Kuina...
Nope, she's shown training on page 8 so hopefully no one will reach that conclusion.
i dont think kuina died!!
i mean, how could she die just by falling down the stairs????
my theory is that, IVA turned kuina into a guy
Kuina and her father her death to avoid being linked to the revolutionaries

Well it's actually not hard to die just by falling down stairs…Granted, is not a usual cause of death in manga.
But anyway, this chapter took place before Kuina died.
