RE: The One Piece Music Thread
Beautiful playlist. You even added the composers that were involved in each track wow. Im trying to make my own playlist featuring as many tracks as possible with a good flow but its giving me a headache. The idea is to create the whole one piece story from East Blue till Wano (but i may skip the smaller arcs). I have no idea how im gonna structure it tho. Im probably gonna fail miserably
Thanks for the kind words! (And thanks to the other person who also left a nice comment. Means a lot.) I feel like more people would like to hear this.
Unfortunately, it must have just recently gotten blocked from copyright, as in the past weeks or so.
Luckily, I uploaded it to SoundCloud right around those weeks ago: https://soundcloud.com/adutiy/one-piece-music-compilation-op-compoEDITS:
Its ideation started all the way back in 2008, or maybe even 2007. So much evolution gone into it—many different starts (one including the opening to Movie 6 as its opening). Then I decided to finish/finalize it in 2014 while sitting alone not talking to anybody, even online, despite having taken ecstasy lol; and during that, I imagined all the strings existing as the essence of people themselves.
I have pretty much the perfect audio setup now compared to back then, and I gotta' say, there are so many 0.1% imperfections here and there regarding volume and/or transitions–-even considering how mostly perfect that this compilation otherwise seems to be, without being caught up in the emotions enough to not notice. There are still some basically perfect parts like the transition from Thor Axe to "Mezase One Piece!" (Well, unless I just continue to not pay attention due to being so wrapped up in the moment.) I've made a few compilations of other media since this one, and the time it takes to care for all imperfections is absolutely crazy, even eventually lacking enjoyment in the process at all lol! (E.g. doing plus or minus 0.001, or 0.005 [to be less asinine], increments of amplitude.) Obviously, mostly just people with similarly amazing audio playback setups are going to hear the same intentional choices of the editor; an amplifier to power the music as a whole is going to make a world of difference in their subtleties compared to having no amplifier.
Basically, I've never been in an orchestra, but now I realize how much care must go into the timing; so, creating the best compilations through digital processes must ultimately mimic this detail–-which can make one insane, considering that technically such digital work can actually surpass even the most perfect human timing, with enough editing. So if you ever get into that craziness as well, proceed with caution so as to not overload yourself with too much perfectionism, yet it does help to be aware of near-closest approximations of perfection. In fact, I just realized you can probably get relief during the editing process by focusing on true perfection ONLY for the "less interesting" parts of this type of compilation; the best/better parts tend to take care of themselves. This might also be tied with better parts being "better parts" in their own right because of the much wider room for error existing to have that relief. All this is to say nothing of the overall movements decided on, but that is probably the hardest part to get right in the first place. I had plans to incorporate more Movie 7 OST, but I kind of just ran out of time. I even made a small minutes-long medley for a college assignment of Movie 7 stuff, though I don't think I personally have it anymore, but maybe a friend does.
One point of interest is how that part of "We Did It!" that I included is IMO the first time the compilation gets a little boring. A super perfect transition after that at least! The WIP that starts with said Movie 6 opening is just so bad overall by comparison, though. It really is magical that the final version all came together as it did.
edit: I found the aforementioned Movie 7 concatenation as part of the earlier WIP: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/569367610320355370/830339172577312818/One_Piece_Movie_7_shortcut.mp3
It's still got some good parts. I guess it didn't really fit in with the rest of the final compilation, or it had some complexity not fitting the more simplistic transitions of the final version. -
RE: Chapter 985: The New Onigashima Project
This is a most out-of-nowhere question, and from a previous chapter, but why/what is Luffy's reaction here on the left?
edit: Oh I think I figured it out (already)… she's shaking him? He just seems so astute on the right, and I imagine him making a weird head motion/expression more than halfway through Yamato's words.

RE: Chapter 980: Fighting Music
Well at least Luffy has a whole nation following him as a result. That's pretty hype. There's a lot of little stuff in Dressrosa that went on, and regardless of anything else, the amount of screen/panel time with the Tontotta tribe makes up for anything. Guess I'm just not much of a storyteller to think of a way to shorten it all.

RE: Chapter 970: Oden Vs Kaido
How likely is Kiku the traitor? Her character seems mysterious at multiple parts of the story. Zoro says she's hiding something at one point. I mean obviously everyone is playing the down low when Kaido is involved, but she seems extra… spaced out, or something, and the way Zoro says that, in the anime at least, seems out of place. He is as if controlling her, with his sensing of something really beyond the veil being amiss, when he tells her to draw her sword all the time. I could be looking "way" into that, but also not if I'm able to pick up on it so strongly to where it's not entirely coincidental. Not sure if the gender stuff is part of her character or if the uncertainty of how she portrays herself factors into her double agency, or if it's a coincidental red herring.

RE: Chapter 966: Roger and Whitebeard
I-…
If after this chapter people are still doubting that they said something special and not just "I wanna be Pirate King :D" then I don't think any argument in the world can convince you... Until Oda reveals it that is
In the post that showed 3 images with Shanks in the final one saying that Luffy said the same thing as Roger… well, Shanks isn't exactly with Sabo/Ace/Luffy in the scene that mimics this chapter's scene, so it's obvious that Shanks is referring to just the usual Pirate King phrase. The panels being similar between Roger/Luffy could just be Oda being clever and seeing if anyone would notice the same exact panel drawing styles between the two chapters. Unless I'm missing some more evidence of a new phrase being said.

RE: The One Piece Music Thread
Posting this again from 5 years ago in case people missed it:
Can't seem to get YouTube search results to show it, though the video was private for tiny bit. But maybe it's the weird encoding (after 30-minutes it "stops" unless you wait 10-30 seconds.) I should really just re-upload it.
The audio files are in the description, regardless.
edit: Just added a complete info/metadata download to the lossless version, so you can see the name of the track as it appears and who the composer is. -
RE: 897: ''Save O-Tama - Straw Hat Runs Through the Wasteland!''
Was thinking before or at the start of watching: maybe they could bring back some staff from the origins of the anime by the time One Piece is finally at its finale. And then I was pleasantly surprised to see that this episode overall felt like it could've been from that time (even with pacing mandating such little chapter usage). (I'm also feeling much healthier from sudden malaise/problems forcing max hydration + detox of energy drink/caffeine/chocolate/anything for weeks now, coincidentally!)
I've never researched any staff (besides the usual musicians), though, so I have 0% idea what I'm talking about—other than that I remember people saying that a whole bunch of people were fired by the time One Piece went widescreen? No idea if some staff still comes back from that era in modern times, or if some of them are permanently gone for a reason or another. Still, would be really cool if any circumstances allow for the finale to have as much of the original staff (if it would make a difference anyway?) as possible. These thoughts just fill me with memories and possibility, regardless.

RE: 892: ''The Land of Wano! To the Land of Samurai Where Cherry Blossoms Dance''
It looked pretty good. Animation was consistently good, which is extremely rare in OP these days. Maybe I was looking at a badly encode file, but it looked extremely washed out in several places. If that's actually part of the new filter, then ugh. One step forward, two steps back.
I was wondering the same thing. I guess it's supposed to be mimicking a certain canvas style, but seems to have come out with a little bit weird digital fading kind of feel. I had to look at multiple sources to confirm that I didn't get a badly encoded file, as well. Maybe it's supposed to happen the brighter the day/sun is supposed to be (noticed some in the opening and during the crab scene). Maybe the most enlightened part of the arc will be pure white! Ha ha. Actually the seppuku ritual scene might be the brightest we will ever see, for that reason.

RE: The One Piece Music Thread
Thanks. Damn they made everything perfect now, music playback and everything.
So 0:00 of Ashore to Town only plays in episodes: 0, 497, 777, 880.
