Coby was basically telling them that there was no real justice in killing fleeing pirates after the deaths of Ace and Whitebeard, and in their mad dash to kill the pirates they were letting the wounded marines die.

Akainu, being the type of guy that has no problem killing people simply because they might have a criminal among them was obviously less then willing to listen.

That and the man's first action in comic was to blow up a bunch of innocent civilians. The fact that he's hated just shows that Oda's good at creating villains.

Things have gotten more serious lately obviously, what with the deaths of Ace and Whitebeard and the crew wide beat-down followed by separation, but at the core the story is still about adventure though its had no chance to really showcase it lately. It's a grand adventure, and no grand adventure is complete without some hardship and growth on the part of the adventurers.

As a crew, they all fight because they're pirates, but Luffy and Zoro are the only two who have fighting as their primary 'job' on the ship. I can see Sanji gaining some form of haki given his status as one of the monster trio but I don't think the others are going to be busting out any haki related skills in the near future.

Just to point out, neither Crocodile nor Moria ever showed any sign of Haki and they are both strong enough to be counted among the warlords, and Moria is famous for tying with one of the four emperors.

Yeah, I voted against the timeskip, and even when it became apparent that one was coming I wouldn't have guessed much more then a year, but now all I can think about is how awesome Oda will make this.

Magellan vs. Luffy would be a great rematch, and given the fact that both Sengoku and Garp "left" their positions in the marines to go back on the front lines, I could see Magellan possibly taking it upon himself to hunt down the unaccounted for level six prisoners.

Would Haki be really effective against Magellan? I know that it is used to penetrate the defenses of devil fruit users but Magellan's power wasn't that he was untouchable, just that touching him would coat your hands with poisons.
