Star Wars Universe - Resurrection F

Looks good.
Showed enough without telling much.
-
Seems like a retread of the stuff TFA showed us, without anything new to get me excited. Hopefully the full trailer will be more electric.

day three livestream is up!

Trailer for the fourth and final season of Rebels
-
both trailers are great
Sad that this will be the last season of Rebels - I think they could have at least gone as long as Clone Wars. I'm sure they'll go out with a bang, though.
-
Excited for Rebels' last season. As much as I loved the Clone Wars even in its later days, you do gotta admit that its focus was really starting to stray from its original premise. So if Rebels wants to keep up the more focused tone it's been having, then ending at 4 seasons is absolutely the right call.

I'm really not used to hearing Mark Hamill speaking in a role these days with a voice that's not derivative of the Joker. Also, kinda sucks to see Luke living in Obi-Wan-esque hermitage on an island on a planet in the middle of absolute nowhere when I know that during the same timeframe in the old continuity he had successfully revived the Jedi Order and built it up into a self-perpetuating thing.
-
Any hints as to whether they'll create another animated TV series after Rebels finishes?

I haven't read any of the books but hasn't the newest trilogy taken some inspiration from them? Specifically how one of the kids of the original trilogy protags embraces the Dark Side and goes against Luke's Order.

Yeah, Darth Caedus aka Jacen Solo. Though I was never able to get into that series.

Pretty much. In the Legacy of the Force series Han and Leia's eldest son Jacen goes over to the dark side because he believes he can do it "right" and it's the only way to avert a future where the galaxy is plunged into darkness, his point of no return moment is when he kills Luke's wife Mara Jade, a longstanding and well-liked EU character, in a completely cheap, undeserved way. Then it eventually falls to his twin sister Jaina to stop him, and she kills him in the final book of the series.
I haven't encountered a single fan who did anything less than despise that plotline (I myself only got two books into that series before bailing; though I have been contemplating finishing that and the following books that I never got around to recently now that there's a definitive end point), so I question the reboot's wisdom in aping it (Kylo killing Han, obviously, but Rey also has a very similar disposition to Jaina), and while The Force Awakens did feel more like a classic Star Wars story tone-wise than the prequels, it was harder for me to enjoy it as a consequence. Many of the complaints people had against the later Legends EU can still apply to the new setting.
Also, in the old EU it was Luke's son who was named Ben, so that was a little weird.

I don't know. Having an evil Skywalker-related child character that kills a parent that is a part of the original main cast sounds like a pretty generic and simple concept to me. Something that even if it wasn't in the Extended Universe, it would be prevalent in a bunch of fanfics. Not that I can really praise The Force Awakens for doing, well, anything creatively new to give them the benefit of the doubt…

Star Wars is pretty well liked for its dreamlike and adventurous tone.
You seem like possibly a spambot for your emotionless and monotonous tone, but I could be wrong.
-
This whole album is amazing.
And yes, I mean album. There's a whole bunch in the series.
You can also get the mp3s for free.

That'd be Clone Wars.

Wait for Ackbar at the end

I'm really excited for this movie!
-
Great video. Despite avoiding almost all previous promotional material and tempering my expectations, I am now anticipating The Last Jedi far more than I did The Force Awakens or Rogue One.
Although 80% of that is probably due to Luke's presence in a meaningful capacity. You know, an actual role in the film and not a misleading trailer voice over…

New trailer for the final season of Star Wars Rebels is out.
-
So Colin Trevarrow is out of Episode 9. That's 2 lost directors in 2 months for 2 different movies.
Nothing to see here folks, no problems here….

And yet it still sounds less worse than what's happening with the Han Solo movie….at least in Episode 9 they won't be getting rid of Omar because of reshoots:ninja:

JJ Abrams returns to fill Trevarrow's place.
Makes sense to me.

Everyone: WHY THE FUCK IS JJ ABRAMS DIRECTING EPISODE IX
Me: why the fuck is chris terrio co-writing episode ix
-
I don't mind it being JJ, but I'd like to see The Last Jedi first before I lament the loss of Rian Johnson and the new writing duo. Rian wrote the movie script, but is it entirely his story, I wonder? I mean, with approvals from the higher ups obviously. And so, will JJ and Terrio be taking the third movie towards a predefined direction or are they making it up on the go, more or less?
I would really like to know who's script BvS really was - in terms of who's ideas ended up being most prevalent -, between David Goyer and Chris Terrio. Yes, Terrio wrote Argo, but people falter. And Goyer co-wrote Batman Begins.
-
I hope after the relatively safe force awakens, being basically new hope reboot( which is understandable, cause they want to show ppl that star wars can be great again), they actually do something new and exciting. So I don't think J.J. will basically copy ROTJ and lie the way there like he did with star trek into darkness, but if The Last Jedi basically turns out to be a empire strikes back rehash, then I loose all hope.
-
Wait for Ackbar at the end
For a moment I thought this was a really dark isis joke about there being a big explosion. Kinda dissapointed you were talking about the admiral now.
(yes I know I'm horrible)

I will come back to this thread and post something more thought out and complex about that trailer in the future but for now….
THAT TRAILER OH MY FREAKING GOD YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
Already got my tickets for the opening night at Alamo Drafthouse!!!
-
Trailer was pretty cool.
Showed enough without revealing much. That last part seems like a clear misdirect in order to build hype and get the click bait articles and videos rolling.
-
Goddamn this is looking like the most beautiful Star Wars film by a mile. The AT-ATs on the color dust planet, Finn and Phasma's clash, pure money.
I thought the first half of the trailer was a bit meh and was starting to feel a bit worried since nothing stood out much other than the visuals, but there was no need to worry since they just saved the good stuff for the second half
Glad to see Finn and Phasma getting that duel they should have had in Episode 7. Looking forward to see what they do with Phasmoothie this go around. Kylo piloting that starfighter reminded me of that one episode of Rebels where Darth Vader single-handedly wrecked a Rebel fleet with a TIE Fighter. The ways Kylo emulates Vader are pretty interesting.
Anyone else think Luke's voice sounded a lot like Yoda's? I wonder how intentional that was.
Pumped for Snoke as well! Given the scenery around them, I'm not under the impression that this is just a dream sequence.

Idk, if there's anything that felt like misdirection it was when they implied Kylo killing Leia in his starfighter assault. There's definitely more to that last scene than they're probably letting on, but I can see the potential for this being a thing. From Kylo being conflicted af to Luke's statement in the teaser that it's "time for the Jedi to end" there's a good chance of new wrinkles forming in this arc rather than being straight good vs. evil, or turning Kylo good at the last minute like Vader in the original trilogy.

Gosh look, "Ren as frighteningly overpowered Tetsuo figure" wasn't in my head.

Small detail someone pointed out to me today, Luke's hand is the same mechanical one from Empire. Most people assumed the case, but the small detail that proved it was the blast mark on the hand, which is from Luke getting shot in the hand in Return of the Jedi when fighting Jabba's crew.
-
I figured out who Admiral Snoke is. Once I saw the scar on his forehead it was so obvious, especially once you think about it
!
You might say when he hit his forehead….. The Force awakened :ninja: -
Maybe when Disney have ALL of the money instead of most of the money they'll consider making original movies again. I doubt it though.
