I'm wondering why people think that Luffy Zoro and Sanji are the best? I'm not saying you're wrong, but what makes them so much better than Franky and maybe even Brooke. I also think Chopper has become a looser now. Also Ussop has potential, IMO and deserves more credit.

Franky was able to fight against Luffy in water 7 (though luffy had no gears). Is it just because he's a noob with a lower bounty? Because robin has a higher bounty than Sanji. Clearly he's physically strong, he was able to tear the 2 pillars in TB easily. Not to mention the crowbar to the head didn't even affect him. A karate chop from Nami hurts the other 3 (though that's more of a joke).

Brook has some pretty sweet abilities as well (though I think he states Zoro is on a whole different level). He sliced Taleran no problem which was pretty amazing considering the strength of the zombie generals, Luffy couldn't even phase them, IIRC. He was able to put the fish riders to sleep. He had a combo with Zoro (though that doesn't mean much). He can take dumps!

Am I the only one who thinks Chopper has gotten so much worse since he first appeared? Back on drum he was a monster, he took on Chess and Kuromarimo. Now every time he even takes the weakest guy it's something amazing, except Cp9, their really was no weakest (except Spandam). It's also assuming that hogback and the priest he fought were the weakest. Hogback really wasn't even a fighter, just a doctor and the priest didn't even get respect from the other priests. Mr. 4, Lasso and Christmas was his peak I'd say. Honestly, on fishman island he needs to tool on someone.

Ussop's a pretty strong fighter, when he wants to be, his downfall is he never wants to be. I won't use Perona, because he was pretty much beating on a little girl since her powers couldn't hurt him. He took a pretty bad beating from Mr. 4, Lasso and Christmas I mean he withstood so much damage. He fought pretty well against Luffy and took quite a betting (though getting owned doesn't make you good at fighting, Luffy can own me also). He defeated Chuu and wasn't really even hurt. He took out Jango who was supposed to be stronger then Sham and Bucchi (though they were hypnotized to be super strong). He did some awesome sniping on the gates of justice and is just an amazing sniper, he's not up their with some of the others but he's still pretty good.

There is a reason they are known as the monster trio. Every arc they face the 3 most powerful people, and as seen in Enies Lobby, those 3 enemies are usually far more powerful than their comrades.

To be specific, there should be no question that Luffy is the most powerful in the crew. Even Zoro doesn't match up to him anymore.

As for Zoro, he can cut metal, he beat Kaku, and he has all those insanely powerful sword moves. Do you really think Franky or Robin could match up to that?

Finally, Sanji beat Jabura, has Diable Jambe which can break steel and even repelled Oz's attack with it. I'm fairly confident these moves could beat Franky and a male Robin

Touching upon Chopper, yes, he has been under utilized. Now he is part of the weakling trio. However, I do think you are underrating his fight against the Priest. The Priest was actually very powerful and may have outranked the other Priests. It was just that, he was incredibly stupid

We consider Zoro, Sanji and Zoro to be the strongest becaues the crew considers them the strongest. Then come Franky and Robin. I thought Brooke would be in this middle trio as well, but Nami possibly beats him.

IMO after Luffy, Zoro and Sanji comes Usopp. He's the sniper and he's gradually coming to understand his true potential. But in general every crewman is considered really important and have some peculiar ability which may save all the others. Look for example at Usopp vs Perona.

Robin with Chopper couldn't beat Jigoro(who's weaker than Zoro) with the latter's shadow, and a Sanji with Penguin legs(Dogpen). They're nowhere near the top 3. Franky relies on cola for his strongest moves and he lacks speed. He's not in the top 3 but he's probably the strongest one after that. Brook obviously isn't one of the top 3 since he doesn't have the raw strength the former have.

The rest I won't bother explaining since if you need it spelled out for you why, Usopp, Chopper and Nami aren't up there then there's a problem.

Hmm, let's see.

Luffy has shown amzing skill and potential throughout the series, as have Zoro and Sanji. They've also proven to have some serious flaws.

Luffy, while a combat genius, is quite dense. If anything, he's become more dense over time than he was at the beginning of One Piece.

Zoro has proven that he can manage a little unarmed combat, in addition to his incredible (in both senses) sword technique. He can lift several tons of weight as well. However, he becomes lost quite easily; so much so that I sometimes wonder how he knows which side his swords are on.

Sanji's skill at kicking is probably second only to his skill at cooking- he excels at both. He also exhibits a lift capacity on par with Luffy's, i.e. ridiculously strong. In addition to this, he has shown more times than one that he is far more clever than either Luffy or Zoro. However, he tends to lose his temper over things that aren't really all that important, especially where his rivalry with Zoro is concerned. The Hunting Competition and the Bounty Issue in particular.

Those three are the Monster Trio, not only because their strength and toughness are unnatural, but because they tend to act like wild beasts.

I always thought Chopper was part of the Top 4, due to the Franky Family fight. Though I didn't see Skypiea, weird I know. But see, I was up to Alabasta in the U.S. Dub, but I was current with Jap. Subs, I.E. Water 7. So I didn't understand how everyone potrayed him as week.

Not at all convinced by the position you give to Robin. Actually I think she's on par or even smarter than Nami. They have different chracters and a different type of intelligence though. I don't agree about chopper and Franky either. IMO chopper isn't absolutely more intelligent than Franky. They have different kind of abilities, but actually you need more intelligence to build ships and weapons than to cure people(at least at the level of medicine we've seen so far).
Imo, if we need to measure their intelligence, these are their positions :

After seeing the latest chapters I'd say Brook is mid tier like Robin and Franky.

Taking down all those Fish Riders like he did isn't something I see the Weak Trio being able to pull off.

Robin is I think on Par with Nami in intelligence, but has slightly more physical strength.

I think it's difficult to rank Nami and Usopp because their abilities are somewhat situational - Usopp's skill level at shooting and creating shooting-based attacks has definitley increased, however finding an opening to use them is tricky, since most of the main battles are close combat. I think Nami is somewhat similar in that while her weapon is strong and she is very good with it, it takes a while to develop a strategy that would deliver a strong hit and k.o. the opponent.

Also, I think Usopp might outrank Nami based on his ability to take physical damage (which, as we have seen in previous arcs, is pretty high.)

I think Oda limits Franky a little bit (like, how he can't perform without full tanks of cola, or how his back side is vulnerable) so he doesn't risk becoming a kind of deus ex machina kind of thing - I thought that bridge business in Thriller Bark was a bit much, to be honest.

The main thing is that Luffy and Zoro have purposely made it their goal to become ridiculously strong, and Sanji just fits up there too (actually, I can't really explain why Sanji stays int he top 3 - his sense of competitivness?)

Here is how I always see it:

Luffy, Zoro and Sanji are strongest, then Franky.

Robin and Chopper are used more in 'intellegance fights' now instead of proper battles, look at Hogback + Cindry. Brooke…I'm not sure, I'm putting him between Robin and Chopper.

Nami and Usopp, like Robin and Chopper are intellegance fighters, but lack any power so basically do anything to survive.

I thought Robin was the smartest on the crew last time I checked, I believe Oda cleared it in an SBS.

Statistically, Robin and Chopper are smartest on the crew I believe, then Franky, then Nami, then Usopp. Although you could argue that Nami and Usopp are more streetwise than Robin and Chopper who are booksmart.

The top three are pretty obvious. Franky's the only one whose shown even close to their level of strength, and even then, Franky needs Cola for full power and he lacks speed with his attacks. Sanji, Zoro, and Luffy have a nice balance of strength and speed, and their special abilities can keep them in any fight, where Franky will eventually run out of Cola for a Coup de Vent or other moves.

I personally put Franky right up in the mid-tier following, and then I'm tentatively placing Brooke right after him. Chopper might scrape out being in the same class as them, but only if he uses his Rumble Ball.

Robin, Nami, and Usopp are obviously the weaker crew members. Not so obvious with Robin because she was hyped to high hell during Alabasta as Miss All Sunday, but, in truth, Robin can do very little with her ability by itself. Her ingenuity is what allows her to fight on such a great level. Even then, she's overshadowed by the brute strength of the characters above. Nami's probably got stronger moves than her, but Robin could probably choke just about any opponent she came across, or maybe make a gigantic fist from her hands to punch someone into a wall. Usopp is the best fighter of this class though. He's got tons of tricks and traps, especially if he's given a lot of preparation. He can take a hit, and, if we learn anything from his running around, he's not slow. I was honestly quite hoping for Blueno to run away from his fight with Luffy in Enies Lobby and end up fighting Usopp. Usopp could so take a weakened Blueno.

In terms of endurance, I would say Zoro beats Luffy and Franky, whose ridiculous durability is a product of their rubber/iron bodies.

Sanji's pretty swift in his fights. His fighting style allows him to get out of battles without as much as a beating as Zoro and Luffy.

If anything, I think Brooke will be to Zoro what Sanji is to Luffy. Brooke's pretty fast, so he has potential to take on great enemies without worrying about taking as much damage as the likes of Luffy and Zoro.

Chopper's the one who bothers me to most when it comes to compare him to the other. He has way too much potential to become a great figther. His shapeshifting abilities do wonders at the moment of dodging (going from Heavy to Tiny point, etc..) and Horn/Arm/Defense/Brain Point could prettymuch put him in pair with the fighting abilities of the others. I think it would be safe to assume that he's the most balanced of the crew at the moment.

I don't understand why Brook is place so high on everyone's list. We've seen him fight two battles, one he lost extremely badly, the other he won through a sneek attack and putting salt in an enemy's mouth.

A few comments:

Robin has very untapped potential with her devil fruit. Like Nami, she has difficulty thinking while under stress, and that may be why we've seen limited use. Plus, she has to remain stationary (as far as we've seen) to concentrate when using her power. Imagine, if you will, if she could sprout arms as giant legs and act like a "Spider Queen", or wear them as armor. There's endless possibilities there.

Also, people misunderstand what Oda meant about Usopp. Oda didn't say he would always be the weakest, Oda said he'll always be the most human. In a way, that can be construed as being the weakest, but that doesn't leave him without his strengths. He's not stupid; he built weapons for Nami and himself, he's an excellent sharpshooter, and he has a bond with both Luffy (best friends) and Franky. Being Luffy's best friend makes him one of the most important Strawhats, really.

Lastly, every Strawhat is smart in their own way. Usopp is best with Gadgets, Luffy is best with physics, Sanji is best with cooking, Zoro is the most calm and collected, as well as the most skilled with swords, Robin is the smartest in general intelligence, history, and archeology, Nami is the best in navigation, practicality, and money management, Chopper is the best in Medicine and botany, Franky is the best at mechanical work, and Brooke is the most musically inclined (and the most experienced Strawhat). They all have their strengths.

To me, none of the other Straw Hats come close to Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji except Franky. I'm sorry but that's obvious. I think Franky could have taken a stronger opponent than Fukurou, because he was Extremely active in Enies Lobby afterwards. He got punched by Lucci, and got back up, and then ran through a mine after his battle. He has stamina that's probably on par with Sanji. And I'm kinda suprised that after seeing him swing around pillar chucks like nothing, you guys still put him mid tier. He is most likely Bottom High at best

Robin is tough, but Brooke is quicker in speed.

It's all so vague and assumes that the strengths/weaknesses of each crew member don't depend on the situation. Depending on how you measure power, the rankings can be adjusted so that which ever character you prefer can be the strongest. So, any character can be considered the strongest if you design the situation to their benefit.

For example:

Underwater sanji is strongest.
In a hallway with little room for maneuverability, franky is strongest.
At range, usopp is strongest.

So, considering this, how can you say one is universally more powerful than the other when so much is dependant on circumstance? There is no such thing as "pure combat strength" in one piece. That's what makes it not Dragon Ball, after all.

Ussop's sniping could make him complete ownage from afar, especially with cannons. Although they may be considered weak right now, they are a force to be feared later on.

Just getting you back for quoting my avatar in an earlier thread when it had no relevance, either.

Anyway, my point about them having their strengths is relevant to the topic because it allows for application of their skills. For example, an obvious one is Chopper, who used his medicinal knowledge to create the rumble balls. As the Strawhats learn new things related to their field, they can integrate them into their attacks. Even Brooke, at 88, isn't too old to learn a few new tricks.

That, in turn, can change their position on the tiers.

her power cant miss, can be used in mass or as a stronger attack, if she learns proper grappeling (if she doesnt already) she can use the enemies strenght against them or bend the limbs in such a way that the enemy cant use their strenght, if she learns some anatomy she could possibly exploit pressurepoints.

both the last two points would counter her physical weakness.

Agree alot with this, of course Luffy and the rest are the strongest, but I think Luffy is really smart, look at the Gears, nobody so far in One Piece has used their power to the extent like Luffy and changed it up like that, also, Nami, Chopper and Ussop are really smart, and show you that anyone in One Piece can kick ass, and that it doesn't matter if you have a devil fruit or not, you can whip ass with pure brains.
Plus, Robin, Brooke and Franky are the mid trio, and they go in when I guess Luffy, Sanji and Zoro can't battle, they can be extremely strong when they want to!

So I guess it's like this:

Luffy, Zoro Sanji - Smart(mostly in battle, outside is a different story) Monsters
Robin, Brooke, franky - Can kick booty, but they lack power
Ussop, Chooper, Nami - Weak, and dont have super power like the rest, but can also kick booty when they need to based on brains alone

To me, it doesn't really matter each crew member core strength in One Piece because the SH's TOGETHER can basically take down any crew in the 1st half of the grandline, and each member can hold their own, and is a force to be reckon with!

Also, Oda powered down Chopper, in the beginning, he was a beast, now he cries alot and doesn't wanna fight as much, he could of been one of the Monster trio when he 1st joined, but I guess Oda had another idea for him, so sad!

P.S. I think the weak trio can easily sneak up into the mid-trio when they want to, they just have to get over the fear of fighting!

without a fight where robin and brook have to give their best we cant compare their power to the others which already had that situation.. robin sure has god damn amazing potential with her DF…but if she cant use more creativity in her attacks(or oda doesnt want) we cant count her as a top fighter just because she could use her ability to brake everybody a leg or something(against a cp9 member who could use tekkai her ability cant help her)...when she can handle to use her DF like already said in a way of a giant arm (kay seen in movie 3 or 4 i think) as a attack or in such other creative way she could be a top fighter and so her power will increase ... so far we havent seen much of her fighting power and this is what counts in OP...i mean theoretically zoro would be the strongest(lifting up a god damn house:blink:)but cause of luffy`s DF and his fighting intelligent he becomes more stronger than zoro...

also i cant see why everybody takes brook as such a good fighter compared to the other SH... we havent seen much of him right now and i mean how could he be stronger than monster-chopper!?:getlost:

without a fight where robin and brook have to give their best we cant compare their power to the others which already had that situation.. robin sure has god damn amazing potential with her DF…but if she cant use more creativity in her attacks(or oda doesnt want) we cant count her as a top fighter just because she could use her ability to brake everybody a leg or something(against a cp9 member who could use tekkai her ability cant help her)...when she can handle to use her DF like already said in a way of a giant arm (kay seen in movie 3 or 4 i think) as a attack or in such other creative way she could be a top fighter and so her power will increase ... so far we havent seen much of her fighting power and this is what counts in OP...i mean theoretically zoro would be the strongest(lifting up a god damn house:blink:)but cause of luffy`s DF and his fighting intelligent he becomes more stronger than zoro...

also i cant see why everybody takes brook as such a good fighter compared to the other SH... we havent seen much of him right now and i mean how could he be stronger than monster-chopper!?:getlost:
in my opinion he isnt better so far as usopp cause think usopp would fight against brook like he fighted against luffy...cant see their brook win also most of usopps attacks like his stings or his aroma-dials wouldnt gave brook a heebie-jeebie(skulljoke)

Zoro is not the strongest physically, Luffy is, in Water 7 he pushed two big a** buildings out the way, and he's done a whole bunch of other stuff that showed he's powerful as hell, without his devil fruit!

I think it's pretty obvious Robin outclasses Franky in fighting ability. Whenever Nami speaks of the strongest crewmembers it's always the monster trio+Robin. I think she's somewhere around Sanji's level of strength despite never getting her time to shine.

Chopper, Franky and Brooke are all somewhere in the middle. They're strong and have potential but in a pinch arent nearly as reliable as Luffy, Zoro or Sanji. Also Usopp has been known to be a totally pushover sometimes and other times fight on par with the monster trio so he's sort of the Wild Card. He seems really powerful in one on one battles and Oda-sensei just seems to like him as much as the monster trio so he'll always get about as much screentime and action as they do, one way or another.

Nami, Usopp and Chopper are all powerful compared to normal people but sometimes they get outclassed by the enemies Luffy and co. face in One Piece, not to mention their heads get in the way and they'd rather retreat than fight so while everyone else gets stronger they tend to plateau

How's Robin stronger than Franky?

Franky's Punches, Weapons and Coup De Vent are as powerful as anything Robin could pull. Besides, Franky has the durability and flexibility (Franky's more creative fighting wise) Robin lacks.
