So far, every Akatsuki member so far has been defeated in less time than when they were alive. I'm glad too. I don't want another fight knowing the abilities of both parties. Let's hope it continues this way.

Why the hell does Kaku need the hearts? He was strong enough to obtain his new hearts already, so why does he need element attacks? He doesn't need to worry about dieing cause HE CAN'T. I'm confused.
Actually I was just about to agree with you but while typing my response i think i figured it out. He's getting a heart for each on eof his masks because
1. Thats the way he's used to fighting, yes he doesnt really need the masks now because he's not fighting for his life but centuries old habbits die hard.
2. Him + 4 mask beasts kick a lot more ass than just him. And since it's a war I think kicking as much ass as possible is the goal.
3. Kabuto made him do itHope that helped.

I mean I still enjoy parts of it but part 1 is one of my favorite mangas, I don't want to think of part 2 as part of the same series

Well, Lee still has his own spinoff series for some reason despite not even being in the top 10 popularity. Maybe the SJ executives saw the potential with Lee.

! Shikamaru and the others start fighting against Asuma. Kankuro's team is saved by Mifune's. Mifune fights against Hanzou and wins. We also see how Hanzou was killed by Yahiko in the past.
! So Hanzou seemingly gets killed off in one chapter, by a noname character who got manipulated easily before. Kind of underwhelming for the guy more powerful than the three sannin combined, to say the least.

Most of the votes in these polls are made by girls, which is the reason why characters like Sasori rank so high, and why people like Kisame, Jiraiya, Lee and so on never rank high. People who look like normal adult males are ugly and icky and unappealing, after all, which is why Bee isn't there either, despite otherwise being rather popular. -

What I find troubling about Kakuzu is him having found 5 hearts, each with a different affinity of nature. Did he hit the jackpot that easily? Because I'd think it would take a bit of time to accomplish this task. Many people on the battle field after all don't use the element according to their natural affinity.

The Hanzou thing really bugs me, especially considering we just got out of a fight involving two asspull characters that took 3-4 chapters, while a fight involving a character hyped for hundreds of chapters ends in one chapter.

I don't remember the earth grudge well, but I don't think Kakuzu need hearts with different natures, he just steal hearts and store them.
And about him stealing hearts and releasing them in the form of the grudge monsters, it's better than storing it, because as a zombie he's immortal, so he don't need to keep them. And the monsters can help Kakuzu to destroy more enemies easily with their abilities instead of using jutsus alone storing hearts for no reason.
