Well after lots of speculation around the web of One Piece hitting Another filler arc the Wikia, and an anime trailer has confirmed that there will be a filler arc coming next.

Am I the only one who is kinda somewhat excited for this filler? I mean not only does it make sense canonically because the they needed to wait a day to get the paper with Doflamingo's resignation, but this will also ensure a better paced Dressrosa. Additionally, from the preview, it looks like we will get to see those samurai costumes more than in the manga, which is awesome, some pretty cool looking animation, and more Caesar antics, which how can you dislike. Plus, Dewgongs, Monster Chopper, and Law? C'mon! I bet Kinemon will be funny too, with all the new crew dynamics for the writers to play with. Sure, I would have liked Caribou's story or Where Are They Now, but you know, I'm happy with what were getting. So what if it'll be a couple episodes, as long it is funny, interesting, and not shit for animation, I'm perfectly okay with delaying Dressrosa in exchange for quality

This is actually pretty interesting. An honest to god proper filler arc (one which may go beyond 2 episodes at that) is something the series has needed for years now, and not any of those random movie "tie ins" and whatnot but something which can actually stand more or less on it's own two feet.
Still baffled why someone would rant about this happening since we've been wanting Toei to do this for years now. Heck, It will ensure much, much better pacing and give you some extra OP content not found in the Manga. What's there to complain about ?
Heck, outside of two short movie tie ins three years apart, the last proper filler arc was Spa Island aka the thing no one remembers.

Pretty excited actually. Yeah, it's filler, but the animation looks good, and eh, a little filler here and there sorta makes it feel like classic anime One Piece, as the first half of the series had more than it's fair share of filler. I'm not gonna hold my breath for something on the level of G8, but this looks like it could be better than the Film Z tie-in filler atleast.

Hopefully this is to make the pacing better, and not just because of Oda's breaks. Perhaps Toei actually knows how good Dressrosa is, and understands that this is a good opprotunity to gain some serious momentum. If this is true then maybe we'll get better animation/pacing as a result.
But this would only happen in a perfect world.

The only way for this to make any difference to Dressrosa's pacing would be if this was a filler arc that went on for at least 25 episodes. This could be a fun little detour but there's no way it'll go on long enough to make a difference unfortunately.

Seeing how the preview already shows the start of the fight, I don't think this will last that much more than the 2 episodes we know of.
Still appreciating it though, having additional CC scenes surely is delightful. Also hoping for some role of Kinemon & Momonosuke. And the inclusion of Kung-Fu Dudongs is awesome, though I wonder in what way they're doing it. Thought they were Alabasta-specific creatures.
I actually haven't watched the Punk Hazard anime in a long time. Dunno why.
Anyway, filler may be filler, and even if it doesn't last long, I'll take it. Anything to "cool down" between arcs, and get more Caesar/Kinemon/Momo.

OP fanbase in a nutshell. Or to be fair, any anime fanbase.
W/ our luck, this filler may be enough for DR to at least maintain the 1:1 chapter/episode pacing (give or take a few pages of content from the following chapters). Unless this filler lasts as long as Bleach's Bount Arc and/or Zanpakuto Arc, then the pacing for DR will not be changed that much. I think Toei just wants a little leeway to so they can keep going at their usual pace. It's a shame too. OP leaves so many opportunities for filler, but it's always squabbled…hell, they won't even do just a bunch of Detective Luffy episodes (which they don't even have to worry about continuity contraints, but nope)! Oh well, either way, I'm looking forward to this filler. It'll be nice to actually "wonder" what will happen (considering how most manga readers already know how an arc will turn out anyway) and how it'll end.

They didn't even do the good, plot important cover stories. (Ace, Hachi, Wapol, Enel, CP9, etc) Why would they mess with that awful one?

Filler arcs are infinitely preferable to padded episodes. It'd be good if they'd do more of them. It'd be awesome if they had a year or two of filler (along the way, not all at once) so they could go back to doing two chapters per episode.
Ongoing animes should always have long ass filler arcs between big manga arcs, whenever reasonably possible. It makes the product when they return to the canon much better.

because it ties heavily into very close up material (just like lil' buggy's big adventure)? it could work as a good extension, and it wasnt all that bad either. besides anything with "that guy" in it even if he is there for a brief bit, cant be all bad. who knows, if animated it could be really touching.
also, i dont know about always. truthfully the next arc has lots of extendable material in and of itself.

I thiunk the anime has proven pretty well by now that they have no idea how to take advantage of the oppurtunities Oda giftwraps for them, and instead always do something much stupider instead.

I know. I just hope they do Dressrosa justice along with future Arcs. I hate the filler but i don't mind it if they can do a good job later on.

The preview at least promises some decent eye candy if nothing else. But seeing how they handle filler CC, Law, Kinemon, and Momo will be enough of a curio factor to keep me interested, assuming it doesn't excel beyond typical filler fare (which it might).
Though I must wonder what the Kung-fu Dugongs are doing in the New World. Allies? Evil minions? Or perhaps the birth of a fearsome new world power?

May i say this… why doesn't TOEI just take One Piece to a 3 to 5 months break ? because always making a just-one-chapter for each episode is really stupid and annoying! most episodes could easily made from 2 to 2.5 or even 3 chapters if they just think this way one piece would be more populair because if they keep continue like this, they really screwing up the series. the anime would be awesome if they solve atleast these 3 things
1. no filler scenes or episodes just keep straight to point just like the manga maybe some filler jokes or funny scenes but not too much.
2. SUPERIOR animation and drawning style one pice animation should be like film z or strong world with some occasional computer effects like armies for example .using CG effects for hody jones 100.0000 men so that it actually looks like 100.000 men and other battle effects
3.anime accurately mimmicking the violence and gore of the manga theanime toned down the violence and gore of the manga like half of whitebeard's face blown of, red leg zeff eating his leg etc.
very stupid because the battle damage effects of powers and devil fruit in the world of one piece are very important and should not be softened.
Normally I'd be pissed, but we have Caesar Clown on this arc. Mother! Fucking! Caesar Clown! I'll forgive anything Toei throws at us this time!

Truth be told, I'm with Robby on this one. I rather have some new material then the staff stretching out the episodes of chapters any further. If it's good, when then prego. If it's bad, at least it'll be worth for a laugh. And really guys as close as the anime was to getting closer to the next arc, are you really that surprised we get one of these? If anything this series has less of these as it went on. They're not always gems but most of OP's main arcs aren't all winners either (Fishman Island arc anyone). Just take it and deal, or you know, not watch and just follow the manga if your that hard up for seeing canonical material. Complaining ain't gonna make the filler go away.

Well 1) It's a franchise and they need sponsors and sponsers ain't gonna wait all day on them. If they did that, they'd get less money, which mean crappier animation and possibly no anime in general. Unless you wanna wait months on end for OVAs just to cover one half of an arc.
Those were movies and worked on budgets. Which are essentially one time deals . Yeah they look pretty but they're made for big screen adapations, so of course they're gonna pour resources into making it look good.
Just because Japan is lax in some standards on TV, doesn't mean they'll just allow anything on it. When it comes down to it, One Piece is still made for kids and what can be shown on manga ain't the same as what they can show on TV. It's the same down here with comics and animated adaptations. Some things are gonna be toned down.
I only hope it is a long filler arc,otherwise it would be pretty useless
