I really don't think that Kuma will do anything special in this arc.
He showed up, offered his help to Moria, Moria didn't take it. That's all.
Shichibukais have their pride, you know.
Chapter 479 "Warrior of Hope" Discussion

Lol the posts in this thread. I must have missed the part where it was said that a zombie can be knocked out. Also in almost 500 chapters of One Piece I must have missed the part where Luffy gets knocked out after receiving a serious beatdown. But yeah, it´s surely over since it was just a zombie powered with Luffy´s spirit. :getlost:
The Rolling Pirates seem adept at binding/capturing shadows, so being able to switch out with Doppleman could become not be as much an advantage as Moria would like.
Seeing that Doppelmann is not your average shadow but one who can scatter into lots of shadow-bats I´d say he is something they never catched before.
-
Wow, what a beatdown. I guess Luffy's willpower is what made the difference in the end, to be able to absorb 100 shadows and use the power to bring down Odz and - seemingly - Moria as well.
Moria looked genuinely surprised when he got beaten up physically - maybe for the first time after his defeat to Kaidou? - so I don't know if he had the time or means to switch places with Doppelman.
Oda has a history of surprising us with the unexpected, so I dunno if this really is the end of Thriller Bark. And no new chapter next week? Agh, the suspense!

The thing is, the sun should be rising within minutes. I doubt there's enough time for anything but a quick-fix happy ending, let alone more fighting. That and our star, Luffy, looks to be out of the picture.
If Oda does go down the crappy route, hopefully he at least won't make things worse by tying up all the loose ends in a way like has been suggested in this thread (Odz' arm falls on Moria forcing him to release the shadows lol). This kind of overused 'villains evilness being their own undoing!' cliche would be as bad as if the VA's in EL had destroyed their entire fleet when turning their guns on themselves while trying to shoot Luffy. Not to mention it'd be a cheap and embarrassing way to make Chopper's discovery/Zoro's efforts not come off completely worthless.
(Hoping that this two-week break is going to be used for Oda to prepare something completely unexpected and cool which will expel all this anticipated disapopintment.)

Seems to me the General Zombies got pretty much knocked the fuck out by Odz.

To be frankly I thought this theory that "Odz's arm will fall in Moria and so Moria will be forced to give back the shadows" was silly to the very beginning.
-

Which would be like myself squashing an ant. This are worlds colliding here which can´t matter for the count. So yeah, I still didn´t see zombies getting knocked out so far.

IIRC, Oda is generally about 3 chapters ahead, so he's already written the next chapter. we just have to wait 2 weeks to see/read it :)
wow! alot of people acting disappointed. i guess the SHs have already left TB and are on their way to FMI. I guess I missed those 4 hidden pages of extra story in this chapter.
things to note…
- Orz hasn't been purified yet, and he hasn't been "destroyed" like Ryuuma, therefore, there's a huge possibility of Orz standing up again, i completely expect him to considering he has luffy's shadow. the only way for him to stay down is to be purified IMO.
- Moria is KO'ed ATM, and also still has Robin's shadow, though I expect hers will return when moria is forced to return everyone else's shadows.
- The Sun will rise in about 10 mins I believe, I forgot the time limit given by either Lola or RPs.
I think this chapter is a classic case of Oda, there's still more to resolve, and regardless of the many miracles Oda inserts into his stories, there's always resolution, at least, i've always thought so.
-
I think a lot of people are not discerning the difference between not liking an arc and it being pointless.
I didn't think Oda did his chapters ahead of time, as I don't recall reading anything about that.
-
I think it was stated in one of the earlier SBS's. I'll double check on it, though.
EDIT: Here we go
D: When an artist is drawing for example, Chapter 10, what chapter is being printed in the newest
Weekly Jump?
O: I see. I wondered about this myself, years ago. So I understand your curiosity. At this
EXACT moment, Issue 46 of Jump is hitting the stands. It contains One Piece Chapter 60,
"Solution." But I have finished the drafts up through Chapter 63, "I Ain't Gonna Die."
So a chapter comes out roughly 3 weeks after I finish it. But that's only my CURRENT
schedule. Not all people drawing weekly serials have the same system. I could change if
need be. There are various cases. -
Ah. That means he and his assistants probably have the chapter completely done the week before it happens right? Pretty interesting.
Is there a colorspread next chapter or was that for Bleach?
-
@Mr.:
Is there a colorspread next chapter or was that for Bleach?
I certainly hope so. It feels like it's been ages since the last one.
On the other hand, I'm actually getting pretty burnt out from the recent Bleach spreads. Kubo needs to get back in the groove with those.
-
Kubo has a pattern of two shitty spreads per cool one, so (most recently) retarded cellphone crap and boring POSE WITH OUR NEW POWERS for the Ichigo hollow one.
What was the last One Piece spread anyway? It does seem like it was quite some time ago.
-
- Moria is KO'ed ATM, and also still has Robin's shadow, though I expect hers will return with everyone else's.
There is no proof that the shadows of everyone will return now; that is just the assumption from one of the Roller Pirates.
@Mr. All Sunday: The last spread appeared in chapter 471.

I actually meant that Robin's shadow would return with the rest of the SHs shadows. I guess I should edit my post just in case of future confusion.
I'd imagine that Kuma will stick around long enough to see Moria cry "uncle" as Moria told him to sit back and watch as he would make the SHs into his own person zombie warriors.
-
I liked this chapter but I don't think it's the end of TB. I want Odz to get back up and then Usopp and Nami have to take him down again. xD They could target his arm and make it fall off, then when he's weakened, somehow make him fall into the sea to purify him…
-
i really dont see how this arc cant be over. only SHs that arent down for the count are usopp and nami. basically the only thing left to do is for them to load up the rest of the SHs onto the sunny and leave just after hearing kuma give them the news on ace and BB

This post is deleted!

Luffy looks really good in that last panel.

Do I pay with internet bucks?

Will Luffy and the crew's bounties rise after this. I mean he defeated another Shichibukai.
There will be a new chapter next week right?
-
Will Luffy and the crew's bounties rise after this. I mean he defeated another Shichibukai.
They should. Some people say the WG won't raise their bounties and keep it secret but they also said that after enies lobby.
-
They should. Some people say the WG won't raise their bounties and keep it secret but they also said that after enies lobby.
They might. I mean 8 pirates taking out 2 shichibukai and the Judical Island Enies Lobby? Maybe they will keep it a secret.
-
There will be a new chapter next week right?
As it says in the first post, nope.
-
As it says in the first post, nope.
Dammit, this is torture. Oda taking a break or something?
-
After rewatching Usopp, Nami and Sanji vs Enel I got to hoping that something like that happens again with Moria.
And I know I already said it in this thread but…
Maybe Nami and Usopp with the Rolling Pirates can purify Odz right before the sun comes out before Luffy fights Moria again for the shadows. Maybe have Nami do something USEFUL for once. That could just be wishful thinking though.
Odz and Moria aren't out yet though, I can feel it. Odz has Luffy's shadow. And MOria's a Shichibukai.
-
You my Friend is no One piece fan.
Oh 4 real, Just becuse all of my posts are not ass licking, like yours?
-
On this forum the only reason you can't be a fan must be because you don't read the spoilers!
=P
-
Somebody is takeing this wayyyy to seriously…to much time?
Not really.
How long did it take you to make your avatar?
well if thats the case i guess bb is a huge pushover.
im pretty sure moria got his bounty just because of all his 900+ men/thriller bark.
Blackbeards a Bad Example.Blackbeard didn't take a captain's position, he didn't take the fame hence no bounty.
Moria didn't just beome a Shichibukai and have a high bounty by having thriller bark and zombies.
So, Brooks a waste, his connection to Laboon is a waste, Usopps char. development(Perona) was a waste, new combo moves were a waste, Sanjis and Coppers development - theire dreams/idols being crushed was a waste, the whole humor in TB(Frankys bridge building skill etc) was a waste ?
Yep it's all a waste. If Brooke joins he won't be a waste.
As stated before, bounty |= fighting power,
Your bounty amount isn't only a measurement of how "strong" you are. It's also an indicator of the level of danger you pose to the government.
NL was a beast, before you said the fight was dragged and now you say it ended to quick, make up you mind boy. Who says the fight is over ? Oda will decide this not AP or you.
@Me:
Now Moria (a SHICHIBUKAI) got his *** kicked while sitting inside of Odz? That's crap, So your telling me Moria got a Shichibukai title and a 320 million dollar bounty for sitting in Giants stomach's his whole career? Having no battle-power of his own? Let's not mention the fact how Nightmare Luffy just WTF pwned Odz and boom there you have it..What seems like the end of TB..
Ummmmm….I don't see where I said any of that.
It wasn't a stall, they did sever damage, but Odz doesn't feel pain, Brook went through him, Sanji could deflect his kick, Usopp actually got salt in his mouth. How much can you ask from them, most of them had a fight before that.
The SH didn't do any significant damage at all to Odz, there efforts were not needed really. What? Are you going to use "The SH crew softened up the pickle jar that's why Luffy was able to open it" argument?
-
You know, right before Zoro got KO'd he landed an attack on Odz's knee, I think. And all the damage they did to Odz's arm WILL pay off either next chapter or the one after. Oda does not make his characters have entirely pointless battles, or attack when it's only futile. Chopper wouldn't have pointed that fact about his arm out if it wasn't going to be put to use.
Come on, they haven't even officially left TB yet >_> The arc isn't over, the battle is nearly over, and we're ready to move on. Just wait your 2 weeks and you'll see what I'm saying. And what quite a few people have said. Of course, if it IS all useless then I won't bother you.
-
would you care to enlighten me on how moria got his bounty then? the shichibukai are used to scare other pirates primarily. yes they are strong but i assume moria got his bounty by his army and TB. what else does moria have to scare other pirates and be a threat to WG?
-

Umm. but, you know, his crew members would have gotten the bounty if they did all teh work
When you do the damage in One Piece you get the bounty. It doesn't have to be the captain. but, as you see Moria has the bounty. there is a reason for everybody to get a bounty in enies lobby -
Gaisado: how so? they are a product of Morias devilfruit power? baisically its all him (and to a lesser extent hogback).
though beyond the zombies he has his own shadow that he can seperate and use in combat, the ability to switch his body and shadow plus a one hit knockout attack when he steals shadows. (and possibly some other ability we havent seen yet)
So im not saying his bounty is all due to the zombies but i do think that they contribute.
-
gack! no chapter next week… i think i feel sick... what the hell? is oda eating turkey and stuffing this week?
-
I know what you mean. But usually, since they are members of his crew. He should have a bounty and all of his crewmembers that did the crime should have bounties too. Even if they are product of his devil fruit
-
@Gia:
Umm. but, you know, his crew members would have gotten the bounty if they did all teh work under his lead and devil fruit power.

Well, I doubt this is going to end.
I mean, there's still Perona and possibly both Absalom and Hogback out there.
Who knows, maybe this will end with "Nightmare Hogback" VS Monster Chopper and Perona and a stupid revived once again Absalom vs Usopp and Nami while doppelman gets Moria's ass out of TB with Kuma's help or simply do something to start up Moria again.
-
The SH didn't do any significant damage at all to Odz, there efforts were not needed really. What? Are you going to use "The SH crew softened up the pickle jar that's why Luffy was able to open it" argument?
Yeah, except for the part where the battle probably isn't over and we'll see Odz's arm come off before this is over.
-
Some of you hate this chapter? It seemed okay to me. It's good to know that Thriller Bark is wrapping up. Don't get me wrong, I think this is an awesome story arc. I can't wait to see how all the loose ends are tied up is all.
Clearly the show ain't over yet! XD
-
kaimei: i thought perona was out of the picture after encountering kuma.
oh you were perhaps beeing silly?
-
"Odr arm falling off" is nothing but wishful thinking, but VERY unlikely.
-
Not really.
How long did it take you to make your avatar?
I have the pic on my myspace? I just browse and click yes? Was this a comeback or a complement because if it was the first then..huh?
-
"Odr arm falling off" is nothing but wishful thinking, but VERY unlikely.
No, Oda didn't waste time on it for nothing to happen.
We've seen a skeleton shoot through his shoulder, Chopper spent time explaining it was weak, Sanji and Chopper combined forces to attack the arm which caused their defeat but left a lasting wound, Zoro did the same to create a number of perferations along the arm.
If Oda doesn't do anything with the arm, then the defeat of crew members at Odz's hands will be one of the most dissappointing wastes of pen, ink and time in the entire series.
I could be wrong of course. But um, let's say I also feel as strong about that as I felt that Zoro had beaten Ryuma when we saw him falling.
-
No, Oda didn't waste time on it for nothing to happen.
He told you that? :P
We've seen a skeleton shoot through his shoulder, Chopper spent time explaining it was weak, Sanji and Chopper combined forces to attack the arm which caused their defeat but left a lasting wound, Zoro did the same to create a number of perferations along the arm.
Don't forget Zoro's plan to get Luffy's shadow back before all of that.
If Oda doesn't do anything with the arm, then the defeat of crew members at Odz's hands will be one of the most dissappointing wastes of pen, ink and time in the entire series.
I was saying this in the last chapter thread, & everyone said "You just wait & see, asshole next chapter."
I could be wrong of course. But um, let's say I also feel as strong about that as I felt that Zoro had beaten Ryuma when we saw him falling.
If I was here at the time, I would have agreed with you.
-
Considering that zombies can get up after being beaten down, Odz will likely attempt to cause more havoc. But since he's been severely damaged by Luffy and crew, then it'll likely take less for the remaining persons to take him out.
Anyway if the 3 weeks-ahead-of-release thing is true, then I have a feeling that TB will finish in about 3 chapters' time. Oda is probably researching for fishman island already.
-
He told you that?
He didn't tell me that Zoro won in 466 and yet…
Don't forget Zoro's plan to get Luffy's shadow back before all of that.
What plan? You mean the panel where he mentioned it was time to get the shadows back? Which they've been accomplishing and didn't take up pages upon pages altogether to explain and execute?
I was saying this in the last chapter thread, & everyone said "You just wait & see, asshole next chapter."
Um, but the arc isn't over so…who are you to say?
If I was here at the time, I would have agreed with you.
So easy to say in restrospect. It's unfortunate you don't this time too, because then you might actually get to say you were right without the handicap of hindsight.
You may just learn your lesson like Archibald did. http://apforums.net/showpost.php?p=603267&postcount=491
It pays to never limit the possibilities in manga and say something 'will' or 'won't' happen for sure.
Because when you do, you just end up looking like a jackass when you're wrong.
-
He didn't tell me that Zoro won in 466 and yet…
Ok, but don't get me wrong I hope all the SH work does prove to be usefull.
What plan? You mean the panel where he mentioned it was time to get the shadows back? Which they've been accomplishing and didn't take up pages upon pages altogether to explain and execute?
Odz: I'm gonna SQUASH you, little man!!!
Usopp: Whoa!!
Don't do anything crazy, Zoro!!
I mean, even if you DO manage to beat him…
It only gives us back Luffy's shadow, nothing else!!
We don't even know where you and Sanji's shadows are!!
But if Luffy beats Moria,
EVERYONE'S comes back at once!!
There's no need to get yourself hurt or worse fighting an undead giant zombie!!
Just trust in Luffy and help keep it occupied!!
Zoro: I trust him plenty enough.
But even Luffy has his weaknesses!!
Zoro: And that's "tricks"...
Invisible men, spiritual bodies, rulers of shadows.
This place is chock-full of people whose powers are to confuse and deceive you.
We can't even assume the enemy will let Luffy face him head-on.
Robin: That's a very good point.
Franky: Hmm...
Zoro: If he gives Luffy the slip and morning comes,
Neither he, nor I, nor the cook
can fight worth a damn any longer!!!
So as long as we can at LEAST
get Luffy back to normal before daybreak,
we'll still stand a chance!!!!Um, but the arc isn't over so…who are you to say?
Just letting you know everyone said the SH team work was going to show its effects on Odr, this chapter but it didn't.
Who am I to say? Im just a fan just like you pointing out "If Oda doesn't do anything with the arm, then the defeat of crew members at Odz's hands will be one of the most dissappointing wastes of pen, ink and time in the entire series."
