Oh yeah, This Guy and That Guy
FFS.
sohe realizes 5 years was irrealistic ?
Naaaah fuck you Oda. So final arc is for the next 10 years. Cool....
With BB revealed to battle Law just recently, I doubt he's one of these "that person". 2 in a row seem too much.
I'm going to guess Shanks vs Barto and other members of the SH fleet.
So Oda's learned something from overstated ending predictions. Good, let it take as long as it needs to take, don't worry people with lowballs.
But he clearly learned nothing at all from the old Lurking Legend vagueness. Fans are going to be insufferable about this one unless the characters in question are completely undeniable, and even then it'll be a lot. Let alone if the story slips away from him and we don't get the clash until August of the year after like what happened with Shanks making his move.
Anyway, I'm feeling like the next year will be a good one. Oda sounds energized by the Film Red response and the number of new readers. Egghead is feeling creatively unshackled compared to the end of Wano. There's definitely gas in the tank for this final leg of the series.
I bet this person will fight against that person in 2023. What a fucking hint it is! Spread it everywhere
The scenario probably Blackbeard interrupting Shanks vs Barto, which will allow Barto to escape.
Any fight other than Blackbeard vs Shanks isn't worth to be hyped at all.
SHANKS IS FINALLY GONNA FIGHT.
Nice.
Plenty to look forward to next year.
I personally read that "This Person x That Person" as him making fun of himself? Is he aware that people make fun of his "This Person!" narrative tool? Together with Silhouettism and Off Panelism they make the Worst Trio.
My bet is also Shanks, the rival is up in the air...maybe Weevil?
@puffing-cinema You guys are aware that this is something that sounds normal in Japanese? I read a Japanese philosophy book and there's a lot of "that" there.
really? It's news to me lol
But I bet it's annoying in every language

Even Oda admitted in his July 2022 interview that he’s not even sure people trust him anymore with time estimations. lol People who worry he’ll just speed through the manga ignore how much actually needs to get done.
@redon “And final saga will not end so soon”
This is the same thing Kubo said back then when Bleach’s final arc just started and the arc took 4 years to finish. This is just Oda reassuring that OP won’t end in just a year or two which would be too fast.
I still believe OP will end in 2027 for the 30th anniversary.
Though of course some of the fanbase is being hysterical overreacting drama queens and saying “HURRRRR 20 OR MORE YEARS OF ONE PIECE! IT WILL NEVER END! I BET IT WILL END AT 2040 DURRRRR!”

Main takeaway for me is that more of this can be cited for anyone who’s quick to think that it’s too late in One Piece to do many things. At least more people can rest easy for those wanting it.
@electricmastro ……..How come almost every post you made for the last couple of months has this thinly veiled belief and/or argument you have that Yamato is going to join the Straw Hats?

Dunno, other than to say that maybe it’s because I like characters like Yamato and people like talking about what they like, like the powerscaling with Zoro and Sanji for example.
In fact, if you feel my argument is so thinly veiled, then you’re welcome to deconstruct and discuss evidence that you feel proves me to the contrary, as what can be done with anything related to the manga we care enough to post about. I don’t always claim to be right, and that everyone has their opinions after all. lol
This person > that person
@electricmastro I have no strong feeling about whatever opinion that you hold. Just curious that you seem to always not-so-subtly make anything, no matter how small and trivial, at the very slightest opportunity and at every nook and cranny you can find, to be an evidence that Yamato will join.
You don’t seem to be aware how frequent you do this. Just my two cents.

Well I don't, and I know I don't, since I post on many other sites beyond APF about many things, including a variety of things about Egghead. If I came across that way on Arlong Park, then it is what it is and nothing wrong with that, in so far as I'm concerned. If you're feeling to talk about a variety of things with me, then I'm all for it.
Black Beard vs Shanks?

Unless Law kicks Blackbeard's ass of course. He did help kick Big Mom's after all.
@All-Fiction 2027 seems too soon, maybe be beyon6 that like 2030's.
@joekido-the-Second That’s still realistic and I can see it. His comment during the one-month break that he’s going to revise the story to make it reach the end faster just makes me feel that he’s gonna end it before we hit 2030s.

As long as Elbaf isn't a 2-3 year monstrosity in and of itself, wrapping by 2027 is pretty doable.
We're gettign Vegapunk right now and all signs point to this being a super short arc. All that's left on the checklist are Elbaf, Laugh Tale, Final War (which includes the Blackbeards and three ancient weapons.) Stuff like the revolutionaries will obviously be tied into the final war and doesn't need its own arc. And meeting Shanks will probably be relatively short.
A year for Elbaf (2023) and a year for Laugh Tale (including Joyboy flashback, 2024) would still leave 3 years for the final war. The BB 1 on 1's should take about a year if all 10 SH's get a two chapter fight which leaves two year for all the other stuff. Marineford and Wano have prepped us for what those kind of conflicts should look like.
Or Oda could go full Naruto final war with it and that final arc stretches for like 6 years by itself but I don't think anyone actually wants that, Wano was exhausting enough.

I really hesitate to believe that the final war and everything directly surrounding it will be shorter than Wano’s 4 years.

Well we will have to wait and see.
People have been laughing at me for years when I predicted that "that" character will fight "that" character. But look who's laughing now. Bet you all feel silly right now.
And just to rub it in. I'm predicting that "that" character is going to say "that" thing. Feel free to laugh at me now. I'll have the last laugh again.
I like the idea of One Piece wrapping by 2027 and hitting 30 years. (christ, 30 years....). I mean, who knows if it's even that smooth, but ofc it's not ending in 2023 or even 2024. Still has some oil to burn.
@Ivotas Ha! You're obviously not taking into account "that" powerup which "that" person has not yet revealed. I'm telling you, at the end of the day "that" person is sure to win.
I'm curious how an Oda's battle royale will look like...
@puffing-cinema there's a reason you see it in every manga. "Can we do that"? "That jutsu" "that person", "that scenery" etc.
By the way, is a complete translation of Oda's message available somewhere ? I assume Redon quoted only the juicy bits.
Edit: found it, over at the O'hara Library
@Seafarer33
Of course I am. That's one of the things that will happen during "that" event at "that" location. And "that's" the bottom line, cause Ivotas said "that"!
I think Elbaf will be a multi-year arc.

Blackbeard Pirates is also made up of BB + Ten Titanic Captains, so I’d imagine the time for SH vs. BB would be near by the time Luffy gets his crew of 10 too.
Greg's translation of Oda's message:
Just so it's out there, this was the official translation I did for Shueisha which appeared during the livestream.
