I myself have been feeling that there’s been a lack of passion and struggle with her, which can involve members attempting to overcome their past or a troublesome situation in the present leading to noticeable character conflict in general, with aspects like persistence and dedication helping them through at the end. I suppose Pedro’s death can play into something like that with Carrot’s character development/exploration, but I suppose we’ll have to see.

Worst of all, whatever the next cover has, it'll probably be his disguise design to not spoil the reveal. So it might be half a year before we get proper colors unless a color spread addresses it sooner
I too been thinking of this.
Chapter 1000 will definitely get a colorpsread, so since we're in the arc of Japan, why not making it about all of the most prominent characters of the arc and have Yamato's colors revealed there?, really hope Oda is thinking about this.

First thing I like to do if I'm thinking about someone to join the crew is, do they potentially have a sad back story that could get fleshed out in a flashback
Like character's like X. Drake, Bonney, Sir Crocodile and Gecko Moria would all check off that box
funny enough, well I do think we will get there flashbacks, I don't think any of them will join the crew
for a variety of reasons

As I said before, I think chapter 1,000 color spread will have all the Straw Hats, but also all kinds of allies, including Hancock, Vivi, Sabo, Carrot, Yamato, Kin'emon, Cavendish, Sai, Bartolomeu, Leo, Hajrudin, Law, Bellamy… So, in essence, we will keep discussing if that means anyone there will join or not.

One of those four breaks is already taken by the general WSJ break on December 28, so it's only three breaks/13 weeks. With a "3 chapters, 1 break" pattern we go into the holiday break with chapter 1000 but this year we had three consecutive chapters only three times (counting from issues #03 (968) to #36 (989)), so it's a close call

I really want more clues on what is happening in the wider world, and exposition chapters are usually pretty loaded with lore. I really want an update on the Shichibukai and what Teach is after.Especially since I think the final members of both the Straw Hats and Blackbeards will come out of it.

The last panel of the last chapter said thousand words. This picture showed us the whole crew. This crew isn't complete but in this moment. And it showed us that carrotvor Yamato aren't a part of the crew.
My favorite is the unknown visitor, who met crocus and LA boum. He made the same long way like our crew. That's one big point. Carrot and Yamato only saw Wano, Zou and Whole Cake. -
Jinbe has done what none of the other Straw Hat Pirate members have been capable of, the act of perfectly understanding the strengths of Robin and utilising them in unison with his plan. And that just makes me so happy – Jinbe has been one of the greatest additions to the crew. He has brought with him focus back on Nico Robin. Move aside Monster Trio and enter Tactical Duo. Thank you Jinbe! It feels good being a Jinbe supporter for the past 10 years. If only my arms were long enough to reach around you, I would give you a hug!

They cna also easily say, chapter 1000 should be first chapter of the new year. But then you also have to remember that the yearly schedule of WSJ is different from the calendar year.

Yamato treats Oden's journal as his Bible. That got me wondering, if someone eats the Paw Paw Fruit (Kuma is practically dead, Sabo may have given Kuma a mercy kill :sad:) will they inherit Kuma's Will and therefore also his literal Bible? :blink:
As secretive as Kuma has been portrayed, I have my doubts his Bible is actually "The Good Book" and more of a collection of secret information he has gathered throughout the years. Do we even know WHY Kuma went through the trouble of sacrificing his mind, body, and soul to the World Government? I would think once Vegapunk said you won't be able to control your actions EVER again after this surgery that the mission was over since Kuma could no longer relay information to Dragon.

Well, the weird bootleg IS official anime product, and I'd forgotten how wrong it looked until I hunted it down.
I think I was mixing the two pieces together.

While there are other clues that it's not Oda's work (coloring being nothing like how he colors, composition being a mess, the fact that characters like Kuma and Teach just blend into other characters because of color and composition problems), the real big red flag is that Foxy is not only there but dead-center.

It's not a bootleg. It's official OP that to this day can be found in the Mugiwara stores here in Japan. It even says 'from TV animation' on the logo. You can tell by the srtwork as it's one of the old art styles of the anime. It'd from the Jiggsaw puzzle Chronicles 1. Chronicles 2 also has the same artwork. I should actually still have a scan of that one somewhere on my computer. Can look it up if anybody is actually interested.
Chronicles 3 on the other hand is terrible, terrible artwork. Also I've seen Chronicles 4 in the Mugiwara store last week but I didn't chose to buy it^^'

I am of the belief that Oda plans things, but not "ch 400 will be this". If ch. 1000 would continue in the spirit of ch. 100 and 500, then I expect a major character intro.
Vegapunk through intermission or flashback. Rocks pirate isn't impossible. At this point, I feel like Rayleigh has served his purpose, but I don't know what Dragon's deal is. Disruption, I get that, but there's something else. Most of those big shots in the world tend to play a role for the crew, but I don't know what this means for the MC's father. If it was VP, I can take a guess at multiple purposes that he can serve.

As well as how the Dressrosa arc is said to have started at Chapter 700, with Doflamingo revealed to have had the Mera Mera no Mi, and the Straw Hat Grand Fleet being founded in Chapter 800. I get the feeling Oda was conscious of even that, and makes me wonder further what approach he’ll have once he starts drawing Chapter 1000.

So the magazine confirms what Luffy said in the beginning, 10 crew members excluding himself, which is what most of us thought already.
