Has anyone ever disagreed with you that OP isn't a top priority for Funi? That's obvious. We're just not assholes about it like you are. I have no idea what your alternative is. You just don't make much sense, man. Go buy the releases to support the show and help it succeed if you actually care at all.
-
RomanMack
You wasted no time did you….. smh. What's your point with this... absolutely nothing.
-
Well that was a record for Roman.
-
No one piece episodes that they've sat on FOREVER but of course their golden boy MHA has to get a blu ray release. I get that more profitable franchises will take priority and this is potentially a toei issue but this is just getting ridiculous. We literally waited forever and as soon as it looks like we're finally getting our way, future releases get delayed indefinitely. Hell I'd be fine with just digital and streaming if they were just open about it and gave some dates. It's just not fair, they treat way much less succesful franchises better. They get actual blu ray releases and they don't just sit on episodes for months or years. Some mild issues and hiccups are excusable but wether its toei or funis faults they've just made it really tiring to be a one piece fan, recently more than ever.

Bro, hit the enter button sometimes. XD
But yeah, I'd agree but the word "fair" doesn't really make much sense in a capitalist society; money makes fair, so MHA getting most attention is fair to the money it makes.
-
Pretty sure that is just Toei being Toei. They didn't start Blu-ray releases till mid Punk Hazard and are super stingy about that.
-
I'm curious if OPS10V1 outperformed or underperformed their expectations. Anyone we could ask?
-
Probably under. I didn't get it. It's available in higher quality to stream, why pay for the discs?
-
I didn't mean just DVD performance; more like all three together–digital-to-own, streaming, and DVD. Curious if they got the numbers they wanted--and how that bares on the schedule for releasing the next batch.
-
Funimation still hasn't finished some of their simuldubs from last season. They definitely struggled hard to figure out how to adjust to working under quarantine conditions, and probably still don't have it totally figured out. It's no surprise to me, even if it's still disappointing. Funimation's gonna have to crunch hard or just give up on some of their projects if they ever want to catch up after all the delays Covid is causing them. One Piece will never be one of them though. It'll always be there, to get little bits of effort done when there's extra free time.
I'd guess they haven't found time to record an interview episode yet. Oh well. I've got no stake in arguing for digital releases, so no comment on that. I'll be waiting for the physical discs regardless.
I finally know when I'm getting Scientific Accelerator and an option to buy Demon Slayer that's not Aniplex's idiotic pricing, among a couple others I've been waiting on for their "essentials" cheaper release, so silver linings for me at least. This is one of the better listings drop for myself in awhile.

The thing is the reason I was giving them an excuse was because I was under the impression that delays had to be made due to things like cover art and special features not being able to be made. Yes of course more popular things are prioritized, but to this degree is ridiculous, not to mention that even less profitable franchises often get better treatment. Which is never to say we never get throne a bone and never had anything nice, we take things like a movie releasing within 2 1/2 months and a simulcast for granted but their refusal to even give somewhat frequent updates or reasons for delays when it is such a presidence for other shows really irks me sometimes. I understand that toei is also at fault in that regard but 2 companies being responsible doesn't change my dissapojntment with the end result.

Yeah It's 100% a toei thing. They release sets with like 5 episodes to drain as much money out of people as possible because they know they'll pay for it. It will likely never get blu rays here out of fear of reverse importation. Blu rays started for Z's ambition, so if we ever got them they should've started now.
-
If it helps, Toei having a higher stake in the property means we will probably get episodes earlier than those listings for Funi Releases might show.

I don't think they're doing interviews anymore sadly. The last set only had a single commentary for special features, and I'm totally expecting it to stay that way honestly. You could easily record a commentary from home. Even if they were planning on including an interview quarintine clearly isn't stopping them from recording special features for mha season 4, in fact I think this is the quickest turn around from air date to blu ray release it's ever had.
-
If you guys probably don't remember back during the early days of the Funimation release of One Piece we had longer wait between volumes. For example we had an four month wait between Season 1, First Voyage to Season 1, Second Voyage. Then we have a 5 months wait between Season 1, Second Voyage to Season 1, Third Voyage. So to me this isn't really big deal. Plus if you didn't notice that Fire Force have 6 month wait between it's first boxset and its 2nd boxset.

1. This was over a decade ago. Funimation has proved that they are dedicated to dub and release things much faster than they did previously. Not to mention that we just had to bare a 2 YEAR hiatus. 2. Fire force is different, it isn't released on blu ray first and had an actual consistent schedule, so you knew when the next one was coming.

Pretty sure the MHA special features were either probably recorded ages ago or have already been uploaded to YouTube so no I'm sure there's something else, there's no way they're doing those at the studio or at all right now with this pandemic. I don't understand the need to panic and ask about sales and all this even if you're all disappointed, it's been literally one week since the DVD released. I know you're all disappointed it's not coming out in July but something obviously happened behind the scenes that we don't know about that delayed it for a bit. As someone said, FUNi isn't in the most well oiled state right now so I don't know what else to say besides wait, especially because they're adamant about saying that they're working hard on the dub still.
-
I'm not too worried about it. Since we know it will come out eventually and plus I got other things to watch until then.

We can wait and see on the mha thing I guess, it certainely wouldn't just be stuff uploaded to youtube already but idk when they recorded. What I was trying to imply was that they record special features from home, rather than being able to go back to the offices regardless. I wasn't personally asking about sales or panicking, I wasn't even fully expecting it to be July, and now we know it wont be august or even likely september. We are going through a pandemic, of course releases will be effected, but I don't know how it could possibly effect releasing already finished episodes on dvds that look like will have minimal special features from now on anyways. Which isn't to say nothing went wrong because I am no professional nor do I claim to be, their lack of openess is what is most frustrating. No one person is at fault here I'm sure but I think either toei or funi or both need to realize how this situation occurring right after a hiatus could be frustrating to it's viewers. One last thing, unless Funi has like a MAJOR surprise one piece isn't gonna be dubbed from home. It's cast is way too big and it's way too long. "We're working hard on the dub!" is their sugar coated way of saying "we were before the pandemic!". My god I am sorry that I keep being so long winded I seriously don't mean to.
-
Never said it was gonna be done from home but some work here and there is possible and it just means they intend to dub still in general
-

K just seemed like you might be implying that. That is a good point though, I can see them potentially finishing episodes that were already mostly done. Although if punk hazard is an indicator they might not want to release anything from within the season before it's 100% done so we might not see anything from dressrosa until quarintine ends, which at this point looks like it won't be any time soon. Who knows though even if covid was a threat forever they would eventually find ways to work again. Waiting would be much less bad if this didn't all transpire right after the hiatus lol.

I was thinking that too. Even when they come back from the Covid break, they’ll have so many simuldubs and other shows to catch up on that I doubt they’ll get back to one piece for a while.

I’m not panic asking about sales, but I’m definitely curious if it over or underperformed considering the hiatus. I have no idea if a hiatus boosts their sales or hurts them.
-
I thought that other guy was ip banned too. We still cant campaign toei to dub the old movies and others specials?
-
I don't know if it means anything, but season 10 voyage 1 is sold out on right stuf for people worried about sales. Either way, i don't think a delay would be do to sales for a proven series that's already licnesed and dubbed.
I think whoever the One Piece brand manager is probably just have the series on a low priority and they focus all energy on their newer shonen shows like MHA and fire force sadly. I really thought with stampede they were gonna try harder to promote, but if even that movie doesn't get FUNi to promote the series harder, I don't know…

Anyone know who voices Monet?

I don't believe we have any official confirmation yet, as she wasn't credited in any of the episodes that were released recently.

Yeah two of the ADR directors were asked on twitter and said they couldnt tell us who played any new characers… even though we've heard them already. Honestly at this point none of the Z's ambition characters will ever be credited.

She’s doing a kickass job though, whoever she is.

I cracked and went ahead and started rewatching it on funi now cuz at this point by the time I get the dvd's they wont be fresh in my brain anymore. Impel has been great so far, I loved it already but dub Bon clay, Ivankov, Buggy, and Galdino are such highlights here. I just got to blackbeards arrival, hearing cole browns final lines in these arcs is gonna be very bitter sweet.

I guess Amazon (UK) didn't realise that the Stampede BD was supposed to be delayed. It's evidently a Manga-made disc rather than Funi's one, so Sony have made a UK-only disc with identical content because… ?????
- My God, the banding in the opening scene and at various points in the film (mind you, Funi's bad for this, too). It's the version with translated credits followed by silent dub-related ones; the two credits spell Coby and Django differently.
- They changed "Raftel" (as it was in the subbed theatrical release) to "Laugh Tale" in the subtitles, which I assume Funi also did.
- Neither the insert or theme song are subtitled. Strangely, Japanese text is only translated if you watch the dub.
- Funi's 15-minute bonus interviews are here.
Having finally watched the dub, the script did a nice job of making dialogue flow in English and add flourishes while keeping the meaning and characterisations accurate to the original. Johnny Yong Bosch is a good fit for Sabo, though I'm not sure the deeper voice is as effective as his disgraced predecessor. Chris Rager's alright as Blackbeard, though I can also hear the similarity to Arlong; to me, he sounds like someone doing a villain voice whereas Cole Brown sounded like a guy with an actual gravely pirate voice. I also think that Charlie Campbell and Philip Weber sound too young for Fujitora and Sengoku, but they don't have a whole lot to say in Stampede. I'm similarly not sure if I've heard enough or Morgans to have an opinion of Derick Snow's take. I googled who Roger's old voice actor was and it turns out it's always been Sean Hennigan; he sounded different enough that I'd assumed they'd replaced him.

Sean Hennigans Roger is generally kind of inconsistent with how thick the pirate accent is, and I think he's getting pretty old now. He certainely looks it in pictures and his lines generally sounded kind of weak. Makes me sad honestly.

If they ever make it to the Gold Roger flashback, hopefully he is recast or decides to pull back on the hokey accent and acting.

I majorly disagree, I think he is perfect. I can't think of a better voice for him.

You don't think he's hammy at all? Weird. I feel like anyone should be able to recognize that.
-

I'm not saying he isn't a bit lol. I'm saying that a stereotypical pirate voice is perfect for him. He is already a hammy character, I wouldn't want it any other way.
-
Saw someone mention this elsewhere, but One Piece strong world now appears to be sold out everywhere. Wonder why FUNi discontinued it?
-
@LUFFY#1:

I wouldn't say discontinued, production is probably just more limited due to covid and thus little to no printings of older releases are being made atm. Collection 18 has been sold out on amazon for awhile for example.
-

It probably due with the pandamic. Since a lot of the online store are out of stock older stuff and haven't had a chance to restock. For example back in March, Amazon was sold out of Stampede and they didn't got their restock of Stampede until a couple weeks ago,

Well, seeing how the series started, Roger being hammy is pretty in-character.

When Oda redesigns his character a little bit in Wano, I hope the actor sees that he’s not supposed to be quite so hammy anymore.

Are spoilers Kosher?

I've never been yelled at for it, and I can't find the damn spoiler tag.
-

He's still supposed to be hammy lol. Thats just part of his character, and a lot of one piece in general.

Different degrees, man. That actor is way hammier and more cliched than probably any other on the show.

His speeches in the openings for example have all sounded excellent enough to me. It's hammy but he can still very clearly act. Really his pirate accent in extended scenes usually isn't super duper thick anyways. Like really idk how you can be fine with the other accents on the show but not his.

What extended scenes are you thinking? Do you have a clip? Happy to look at them and reevaluate, since I’m just thinking of the intros.
And the accent is very cliched pirate. Pretty obvious why someone would be turned off by a cliche pirate accent in OP.

By "extended scene" I mostly just means when he gets like a few sentences in which is more than the usual. Also, the reason a cliche pirate accent would be a turn off for other characters is because they AREN'T cliche pirates. Roger is intentionally as stereotypical pirate as you can get, Him not having one would just feel weird.

Wano Roger is basically Teddy Roosevelt so he never stops being hammy.
-
I have to agree I can't picture Roger with any other voice but i did like Frederick B. Owens take from what I heard in 4kids OP tho

So we've reached the point they announced episodes coming to streaming last time and… still nothing
