RE: v4.0 Wish List
I would like an option on the home page to "mark all threads as read". I used to use that a lot.

Two straight weeks of no Skippy reviews has me feeling empty inside.

RE: Chapter 1057: The End
Considering the past world-building chapters that took place at the end of Wano acts, I can only begin to imagine what we're in store for next week with the first post-Wano chapter.

Mother Carmel sounds like Jessica Calvello!
Young Linlin is...very familiar.

RE: Chapter 1106: On Your Side
I felt that the artwork in this chapter was the strongest since Oda's eye surgery. At least, definitely the strongest since that flashback chapter that wasn't finished in time. I greatly enjoyed it.

Seems like a crazy waste to have cast AmaLee as Uta, and not have her dub the songs. Makes me think FUNi believed they would be dubbing the music, only to get shot down by some combination of Toei/music label/Ado to promote her in America. It's going to terribly break the immersion for her to suddenly start singing in another language.

Just finished Wano Act 1. Was very pleasantly surprised to see that Mike McFarland directed the vast majority of these episodes!
I was tickled pink by the sprinkling of "shit" throughout the second set of episodes. Appropriately, only spoken by characters like Kaido and Shutenmaru, where it's very in-character.
My favorite was Shutenmaru turning down Jack's offer to join the Beast Pirates, leaping at him in anger, sword drawn, and screaming, "In that case...I only have one thing left to say.... EAT SHIIIIIIIIIITTTT!!!!!!!"

Gabe Kunda was Fisher Tiger, IINM.
Glad to see Major Attaway returning. Guess he'll definitely be available for Urouge, should he ever return to the story....

What's the literal translation of the title of next week's episode from the preview? Toei and Crunchyroll have it in English as one fairly simple sentence, but the original title is two lines.
I didn't care for the Robin/Saul reveal. I tire of the anime trope of immediately inserting flashbacks surrounding a reveal.
To be fair, they don't expect everyone to remember what happened hundreds of episodes ago. So much has happened between water 7 and now.
We've had a few Saul flashbacks since then. Most recently towards the end of Wano. I would've been happier if Robin was able to finish her thought, get teary, and then give a few quick flashbacks.

Egghead Saul episodes for sure, no doubt
I came here to post the exact same thing. Considering we know Wano is essentially finished, and thinking about what "heavy" scene Robin would have post-Wano...how could it be anything other than the scenes involving Robin crying after hearing the story of Ohara and the Giants from Shaka?
And if that's so....
Are we seriously fucking dubbing a scene in an episode that hasn't even been released in Japan yet?????
The Japanese episode that came out a week ago only had the first part of the Ohara info. The episode airing this Sunday should have the rest of that flashback, as well as Robin crying over who may be alive....

RE: Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ)
All of the episodes from the latest release just have the English dub slapped on top of the existing Japanese video track. Stark departure from all previous episodes. Praying this is just a mistake.

I didn't have time to do a thorough investigation, but I just went into the Crunchyroll app on my Samsung TV, and opened up the Jaya episode where the Five Elders and Blackbeard Pirates are introduced.
No onscreen text subtitles at all, but there were closed captions for the dialog. The closed captions, however, did NOT translate any onscreen text. :(
Odd.
I checked the earlier Wano episodes (before 950), and there are two subtitle tracks now available. One for closed captioning, and one for translating onscreen text. Hopefully this spreads quickly to all episodes.

It looks like Crunchyroll has uploaded a new English subtitle track for the dub that translates on screen text, but that's the only thing subtitled on it.
Baby steps.
EDIT: Ugh never mind. Looks like those stop after 950.
Oh, good. Glad they listened. I'm sure the episodes beyond 950 will be added soon.
What did you mean by "that's the only thing subtitled on it"?

No, thats just how they all are on CR. On Funi now, they had different "simulcast" and "uncut" versions that would switch between both video files. Usually just the english credits but as per the name any possible censorship from the broadcast version is removed. Crunchyroll wasn't designed for this and they haven't bothered to change it. Most streaming sites won't have multiple video tracks presumably to prevent load times. It's the same way on Netflix for example.
All of the One Piece dub episodes on Crunchyroll up until now have a separate video track with the English credits, title cards, and gold logo changes.
People are saying these episodes dropped on Crunchyroll a week earlier than expected. The last time a set dropped a week early, I remember it having annoying audio issues.

The episodes released on Crunchyroll today all have the English voice track just slapped on top of the Japanese video track. Japanese credits, Japanese title cards, and NO black screen English credits after the preview.
Very bizarre. Are the episodes on Microsoft from this set the same way?
