@FatDogForMidTerms and appropriately enough, he's now playing Cat Viper in the dub... Which some insist should use the untranslated "Nekomamushi" as his name.

I dont see a problem?
In short: it's a translation error that's stuck with older members of the fandom.
Early fan translations left "nakama" as an untranslated loan word with the justification that it had a special meaning that couldn't be conveyed in English. This spread the misconception that "nakama" meant some special bond between the Straw Hats, when in fact it's a regular Japanese word along the lines of "colleague" or "friend".

Really looking forward to this, but I'm guessing we probably won't get it until 2025 or something.
Yeah. As a comparison, the first teaser for Dragon Ball Daima was released about a full year before the Series is supposed to start, and that used completed animation. The teaser for The One Piece merely has concept art.

the dub is now, officially, less than 3 years behind.
And, presumably, the gap will get smaller very quickly once they reach the episodes delayed by COVID and the Toei hack.

The cast of the anime will voice the Japanese dub. So that'll be fun to check out once I've finished Season One.
(A part of me really wants them to use Chopper's dub VA for a potential Season Two just for the
novelty of Brina Palencia and Ikue Ōtani having to dub each other for the different series.) -

Film Red will be released as a UHD/Blu-ray Collectors Edition in the UK. It's three discs by the looks of it, with a 40-page booklet and other physical goodies. All UHD Blu-rays are supposed to be region free, but I expect the regular Blu-rays to be Region B locked.
I don't know if they've confirmed what's on the second 1080p disc in their Comic Con panel, but it would save a lot of headaches if they've managed to get the bonus episodes (the main TV series is still with Manga Entertainment/Crunchyroll).

I like the implication that Usopp's wearing an elaborate pirate-y outfit in Baratie because he's new to this and hyped to be in an actual crew.
Also, at 1:53 we can see clown stuff behind Arlong, so maybe he'll be tracking Nami as a Season-long tease. -

@dropper The digital release dates are on the One Piece wiki

RE: Season 2 (and Beyond?) Speculation Thread (Spoilers)
@JustaGuy There's a million things about that image that seem sus, but apart from anything else, why would a confidential document like that have the series' logo printed on it? Big productions use working titles to avoid situations like this.

Ideally they'll include the recap episodes, but treat them as bonus features rather than part of the main episode count.

@Sano
Pros of UK releases:- Cheaper than importing, particularly once discounts happen
- Takes up less space
- Easier (and not illegal!) to sell if a better version comes along
- Can theoretically be lent to my friends (if they had Blu-ray players and watched the first 800 episodes through other means)
Cons:
- Doesn't come with DVDs that I'll literally never watch
- The spines in my collection will change from normal DVD cases, to thick DVD cases, to normal Blu-ray cases. But it's already kinda jank in that sense 'cause it's a mixture of Voyages and Collections, and the movies are different cases because for whatever reason America uses thin cases as standard for Blu-rays.

FWIW, Episode 1089 is the official start of Egghead, insomuch that Toei advertised that episode's air date as the start of the arc and Netflix's near-simulcast started on that episode.

I dont think we'll ever see the movies, because if Toei wanted them dubbed we would have seen them YEARS AGO.
If anything, I would say that the classic movies are more likely to get dubbed now than they've ever been because Crunchymation has only now caught up with the TV series.

Tell me, do you think Hosoda owns any of his other films?
Just to be clear, he probably does to some extent.
Hosoda co-founded Studio Chizu, the animation studio that created four of the six films in that article, and those six films exclusively make up the Works section of the Chizu website. So Variety is probably just using "Mamoru Hosoda" as a synonym for Studio Chizu. -

Honestly, I'm not sure why Straw Hat covers would boost sales. If anything, I would have thought that arc-specific characters would help more because people will either be collecting the whole thing or seeking out their favourite episodes. But I don't mind these covers, since the characters are wearing their arc-specific outfits and you can see Totto Land in the background. At least it's more representative than the generic covers of Usopp and Mihawk on the Alabasta and post-Marineford Collections.

A fun consequence of this is that all of the Funimation digital copies will disappear, including some that will have lasted less than two years. But that's digital ownership for you.
(Though the only One Piece release this applies to is Stampede). -

@G1Ravage Maybe they're adding together the limited credits from every episode they've used clips from? Is anyone credited in the recap and not the original episode?
