@FatDogForMidTerms and appropriately enough, he's now playing Cat Viper in the dub... Which some insist should use the untranslated "Nekomamushi" as his name.

I dont see a problem?
In short: it's a translation error that's stuck with older members of the fandom.
Early fan translations left "nakama" as an untranslated loan word with the justification that it had a special meaning that couldn't be conveyed in English. This spread the misconception that "nakama" meant some special bond between the Straw Hats, when in fact it's a regular Japanese word along the lines of "colleague" or "friend".

the dub is now, officially, less than 3 years behind.
And, presumably, the gap will get smaller very quickly once they reach the episodes delayed by COVID and the Toei hack.

The cast of the anime will voice the Japanese dub. So that'll be fun to check out once I've finished Season One.
(A part of me really wants them to use Chopper's dub VA for a potential Season Two just for the
novelty of Brina Palencia and Ikue Ōtani having to dub each other for the different series.) -

Film Red will be released as a UHD/Blu-ray Collectors Edition in the UK. It's three discs by the looks of it, with a 40-page booklet and other physical goodies. All UHD Blu-rays are supposed to be region free, but I expect the regular Blu-rays to be Region B locked.
I don't know if they've confirmed what's on the second 1080p disc in their Comic Con panel, but it would save a lot of headaches if they've managed to get the bonus episodes (the main TV series is still with Manga Entertainment/Crunchyroll).

I like the implication that Usopp's wearing an elaborate pirate-y outfit in Baratie because he's new to this and hyped to be in an actual crew.
Also, at 1:53 we can see clown stuff behind Arlong, so maybe he'll be tracking Nami as a Season-long tease. -

@dropper The digital release dates are on the One Piece wiki

Ideally they'll include the recap episodes, but treat them as bonus features rather than part of the main episode count.

Just got around to Episode 877, and man, I hope that they touch up those silent movie intertitles for the Blu-ray. The Japanese version has a soft, damaged, blown out effect and they've not replicated it at all for the English video track. They've just put pin sharp subtitles over the video that look super out of place. They even hold the last caption too long! I understand why they're translating this stuff, but when they do such a sloppy job I wish they'd just leave the text in Japanese like they did with the earlier seasons.

@Zephray Yeah, this is a UK thing for now. I've mentioned it earlier in the thread.
I know it's not Funimation, nor DVD for that matter, but I thought it would be of interest.

RE: Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ)
My UHD set for Film Red has arrived. Some thoughts:
- The bonus episodes aren't dubbed, which sucks for such an expensive set and means that for now dub fans have to buy the movie twice if they want all the content and UHD transfer.
- The Making of that Crunchyroll Extras uploaded to YouTube is included.
- The UHD has a fully Japanese video track but, strangely, the regular Blu-ray uses English opening credits and English text during the film followed by Japanese credits. Even the subtitled screenings had English credits in the cinema.
- The Audio Description track uses the Japanese dialogue with a narrator reading the dialogue. Why on earth would they do that when there's an English dub on the same disc!??

Wait, if Crunchyroll's stream uses a different video track for the dub... does that mean that episodes 579/680 (the scenes where Doflamingo is beheaded) are uncut in English and edited for violence in Japanese? 'cause that would be a bit ironic, given One Piece's dubbed history.

Even if it gets another effort in August with celebrities and Youtubers being part of marketing, it's still not enough.
Assuming that One Piece is a SAG•AFTRA production, the cast have been forbidden from promoting the series, likely until well after Season One has been released. The strike also means that they can't start principal photography on a potential Season Two, even if the scripts are already complete. After being delayed by a pandemic and finishing production just as Netflix starts cutting down on costs, One Piece LA has had unlucky timing yet again.

Out of curiosity:
- Do the Special Episodes use PAINT or New Genesis for the opening on the Blu-ray?
- What is the Web Preview? Is it those motion capture promos of Uta getting ready for the concert?

RE: Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ)
To be fair, I can't see many people wanting the tie-in episodes but not the film they tie into. As long as they keep re-printing the bonus disc alongside the film, this is the more intuitive way of releasing them, episode numbers be damned. Dunno if they're actually worth $7, but eh.
