Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.
…Honestly they didn't reveal much more than that. But at least now we finally have a title and some vague footage.

Helmet is back, Skywalkers are back. Palpatine is back. Suck it Rian. JJ going full on fanservice to appease the fans. I bet Anakin will also make an appearance.
This is such a lol. The helmet being patched is just a symbol for the mess that Rian created.
"Let go of the past. Kill it if you have to." LMAO, the sequels are a freaking mess.
Cant tell if that laugh comes from Palp or Disney execs
I can't wait :D Not liking the name though.
Palpatine will most likely be a ghost.
Or one of those stupid A.Is from that game.
Palpy again? UGH.
Is he going to make a fourth deathstar now and repeat itself even more? Will there be Ewoks? Will we learn the entire cast is related?
They're gonna reveal Rei is secretly a skywalker just to spite Rian Johnson
The helmet repair makes sense, considering it was done entirely at Snoke's behalf. Luke was obviously going to come back as a force ghost.
Palpatine, though…or whoever that laugh was... I'm simultaneously thrilled and very worried.

more like a symbol for JJ relying on blatant fanwank. See also, Palpatines back whoooooo!

helmet repair is like putting a gun to the head of the thematics of TLJ
So Kylo inherits his mothers name, repairs his helmet and becomes a good Vader in the end? That's what I take away from the title and the trailer.
I took it as Rey adopting the Skywalker name. Glad Lando's back. Too bad he'll probably die. If it's him or Rey, she's getting the Falcon. Got no problem with Palpatine coming back. Well, I don't think he's coming back for real, maybe Kylo finds his sith holocron.
Really like the title and the trailer, but man, I'm worried about how much JJ is going backward after the Last Jedi. I know there are people who really dislike what the Last Jedi did, but I don't think the solution for that is to embrace fanservice wholeheartedly again; that will just make the complaints on the Last Jedi even more valid, plus it will add to the complaints about JJ and how he handled the Force Awakens. Really hoping JJ is daring enough to try some new stuff - we don't need Last Jedi levels of daring (lord knows, look at the responses to it), but we don't need another repeat of the original trilogy either.
Lando being back is fine, I think that's good and fun, but Palpatine coming back? That has me pretty worried. Everything else, though, looks good enough for me to be cautiously optimistic.
I'll say the "Skywalker" in the title doesnt belong to any character in particular, but rather it will be the name to estabilish the new order of good people to replace the Jedi

All about balance.

As much as I understand where you're coming from -even if i disagree with it- you have to remember one key thing.
People like JJ aren't sitting there reading the Youtube comments on Last Jedi clips.
Even if -throwing a number randomly out there- 15% of people that paid to see Last Jedi and/or TFA in theaters are among those continuously actively complaining about either films….what are the chances these people are STILL gonna see the next film? Or have seen the ones they've complained about more than once?
At the end of the day, they're making their money on this franchise.
Abrams could put Jar Jar buttfucking an Ewok complaining about why it's home wasn't destroyed by the Death Star debris for 50 minutes straight and people complaining about either of the sequel films would still probably see it 3 times at least to analyze "why" it's shit.
My point is that -even if marketing points out certain things- I don't think JJ is someone looking at this franchise and thinking "well I NEED to throw out fan-service to make this work". TFA was the first film in a decade and the beginning or a new chapter. And while some complained of it being a "re-release" of IV, I seriously doubt this director making bank on this enormous franchise that would allow him to profit of ANYTHING he put out under their title, is just looking for things to repeat for the sake of throwing in references.
All roads lead to Sheev.
Maybe we'll get Luuke in this film, and he'll have Palpy's voice.
And they can use Marvel's de-aging CG to make Hamill look thirty years younger.

So basically we're going to wind up with another Force Awakens where half the audience praises the movie for it's fanservice but the other half complains about how it's "too" reliant on the original trilogy?

That is what the entire disney wars franchise has been so far.
I never wanted to see the original cast return and continue in new movies. Their story was done in episode 6. I wanted new shit like old republic on the big screen, with new locations, characters, designs and a TON of well choreographed light saber battles between many sith and jedi.

Young clone made of a mixture of Luke and Palpatine's DNA that Sheev fused his Force Soul to.
Really bring back how fucking batshit Palpatine got in the old EU.

If so, I really hope it's a mirror image where the first half is a CliffsNote version of the original trilogy and the second half focuses on Rey and Finn. Then every single worthwhile moment from this last trilogy could be edited down into one good film by including the first half of Force Awakens and the second half of Rise of Skywalker.

Would he be called Shee'eev? Because I would be a hundred percent on board with this idea if they actually called him that.
Really though, capping this trilogy off with a cheesy rehash of Dark Empire would pretty much be on point since pretty much everything from the Disney era has felt like the EU.
I like last jedi. I don't like that title.
I hope Lando is happy and not miserable like every returning character
Lando is the only one who seems to always have his life sorted out, he's fine.

I hope. I don't need to learn that the first order took over cloud city, killed his last sex robot and being in the falcon is the first time he smiled in 10 years.
Star wars is dragonball confirmed.
Good news is, Clone Wars is coming back.

Not just good news, best news.
Episode 9, Clone Wars, and The Mandalorian all likely being released around the same time….

I have mixed feelings about that. I love the series but I seriously doubt it's going to look anywhere near as good as it did without Lucas personally funding the episodes. Plus, for whatever else it did, Rebels wrapped up the Darth Maul storyline nicely so I'm not really sure what it has to offer at this point unless it skips back before Ahsoka leaving the order.
Are they that creatively bankrupt they need to bring back the Emperor? Seriously why not bring back Vader while were at it man.

That laughter doesn't neccessarily mean he's coming back alive. Force spirit, flashback, dreams…
Although, I'd like it if he came back. Get a little chaos going. If this wasn't last part of the trilogy, though. Because then he either gets dealt with in a single episode, or is left for future reimagining of prequel trilogy.

I'm gonna play devil's advocate and say that despite me hating GoT season 8 and their terrible writing, I still am willing to give them the chance on star wars.
Why? Because let's be honest here, the star wars movies never were deep works of art in terms of storytelling as something like ASOIAF or the TV show is/was. And as seen in season 8 of GoT they go more for big hollywood action and twists than well written story. Maybe they can produce better scripts for the new star wars trilogy than what we got from disney so far and give us some fun star wars blockbusters and I would be happy.
So I am just gonna wait and see how their first movie turns out. If it's the old republic they are going for, then just pick from some of the best stories that have been told in the extended lore and adapt it into a new story. Cause when they adapted Martin's books they did a good job.

To be pretty fair though the last season of GoT was never going to match the expectations people had for it. Plus they get to do a project with a higher budget.

I would say wait in see. This could be a true passion project for them where they consider themselves done with GOT. Also I think the spectable and tragicly shakespearian is what people go for in Star Wars not realy the political so it could very well fit them.
Apparently the Knights of Ren will make an appeareance.
Given what a bitch Kylo is I couldn’t care less. Rey will one-shot them all.
Would like to see Qui-Gon though.
Aaaaaaaand here we go.
Looks pretty cool. As strange at sounds I don't think stromtroopers design has ever looked better than on those spikes.
Clone Wars is coming back in 2020, this is the only thing that matters.

Didn't they finish a bunch of characters arcs in series later on the timeline making it impossible to end the clone wars characters properly because they can't invalidate them?

He looks a lot better than I would expect.
You know I'd love to see Qui-Gon as a force ghost in the Obi-Wan series. A lengthy talk about all that _chosen one_ is way overdue.
and so it begins…
! I will admit. I do like the look for Evil Rey and her double bladed lightsaber.
I'm very confused about where the series is going after part 9
are they just gonna keep doing a timeskip to the next generation of Jedi and Sith? I mean that would get old fast, but where will they go to keep things fresh and interesting?
