On one hand, I'd say that Hawkins will not fight them because he told his underlings not to tell Kaido about it yet. But on the other hand, Luffy has a cursed blade around his belt–- and it's somehow gonna bury him into shit

And there is obviously more, but I can't go through all his posts for the past 4years. I mean, I won't
Isn't Hawkin's power (at least one aspect of it) to redirect damage he receives to other people (randomly picked or maybe not) thanks to his straw puppets? The fact that he himself can turn into an oversized scarecrow is nothing to be impressed about for sure, but I could still see him being quite a match for Luffy and Zoro. Not based on raw strength, but because his weird powers could be a hard counter to their straightforward brute force style.

I think he has to touch someone before redirecting the damage on him. Otherwise it would be kind of a hax. I mean, I think that's how voodoo things work in pop culture
redirecting damage at will sounds badass, I can picture Luffy and Zoro atacking him and both recieving the damage of each other.
would be pretty OP, but could have its limitations.
I expect that he needs a piece of the target like hair or clothes.
Like an actual voodoo doll.
What would Zoro do with 4th sword.
I think perhaps one of Zoros swords will break in battle, hopefully not to soon because it would be way to convienient so soon. I like the pace and how quickly things are moving, if this was WCI, it would take 2/3 chapters before Luffy set out and met Zoro. I am anxious that means we have a lot of story to cover and no time to waste. I loved how even though Luffy knew the meat was poisoned he didn’t care and was eating it while telling Zoro not to. I am surprised Luffy remembered Basil I guess he remembers those of his generation. Don’t bite off more than you can chew Basil and get beat so soon. LOL He said you either join strong people or you hide, wrong thing to say to Luffy.
Sure is the start of a One Piece arc.
It's good, but the formula is really getting to me.
So for the next chapter, are we going to have 2 supernova against 1 supernova? can't wait
I think the sword Luffy has will come into play and prevent a 2v1, especially since it was mentioned that it is cursed. To much of a coincidence you have someone based off probabilities and a cursed sword for something not to happen.
Maybe it saps your life force or energy causing Luffy to barely be able to move in battle. He will give it to Zoro who will take it as a training method.
Two of the guys with hawkins seem to be from his original crew, but where is the catmink.
Is it me or is the Tengu’s nose growing in the chapter. I thought it was like Pinocchio and he was lying so his nose kept growing. Someone said he might be waiting for Ace, that can’t be it since he heard Luffy say Ace is dead.
Good to see Zoro back, and Hawkins showing up! That's always fun.
Some people repeat the crap that Oda is apparently suddenly speeding up the pace, when he's obviously been rushing the story for a while now.
It seems few people remember that a single chapter covered the beginning of the confrontation between Tamago and Pedro, Chopper and Carrot taking out Brulee and Diesel, Big Mom breaking into the treasure room where Brook was, and finally the reveal that Reiju has been shot.
Believe me, as long as it's a setup chapter, the plot will more likely progress much faster. What Oda likes to extend are the payoff chapters, with many double page spreads and panels focusing on minute details, because otherwise the very built up hype would end up underwhelming. That's why in Dressrosa each fight against the executives had at least an entire chapter solely focusing on it.
Is it just me or does the art feel a little off? Especially Luffy. Can't really explain it.
On the subject of famine:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Tenmei_famine
In real life, this really shook up Edo era Japan and weakened the Shogunate. I doubt that is a coincidence.
Is it just me or does the art feel a little off? Especially Luffy. Can't really explain it.
Luffy top teeth are really big in the last panel, facial expressions look a little rough in some other places, too much milk?
We interrupt One Piece to bring you–-- the wasteland
f_VfZ6FPVmIegoda hasn't been very good with bloated arcs, so I'm holding my breath on this. we've got five new supernovas, plus law is coming, and possibly bege if we're to see the whole cake gang back. not even considering the other groups…
I just hope this is paced well. Marineford was a terrible slog when it was weekly.
The art is a little different this arc—more sketchy. Did Oda get a new assistant? Please quote me when responding.

This is gonna be terribly paced, as always
As for the supernovas. There are 3 left that aren't in Wano yet. At this point, I think it's safe to assume that everyone will end up there. The question is just, how?
If Kuma is sent to Wano, Bonney will follow him. And if Kuma is sent there, we might see a few Revos too
Urouge might come when he'll learn that everyone's there.
And Bege, well he probably knows that Bigmom is heading for Wano, so he'll probably try not to be around. Maybe he'll be captured and brought to Wano by Katakuri or Smoothie (lol)
The dynamic duo is back together again. It feels like a lifetime.
Luffy jumping Zoro is the cutest moment I've ever seen in One Piece.
How much time has passed in-universe? A week at most?
There was that one episode of Jackie Chan Adventures with a Irish cursed jewel. You would stay cursed if you tried to get rid of the jewel.
The only way to lift the curse was to give the jewel to someone that genuinely wants it.I like to think that One Piece's cursed swords work in a similar way. That you will meet a bad end if you lose the sword. Unless you give it to someone who wants the sword.
The guy in Loguetown was not cursed because he gave the sword to Zoro who wanted it.
In Water Seven Zoro almost died stuck in a chimney after losing the sword for the very first time. He managed to escape only when Chopper brought the sword back to him.
Could be. Can’t recall if it has been stated, but I assumed it was cursed in the way that when used, it would cause harm and/or misfortune upon the wielder.

I was thinking 2 weeks or so. Sailing takes time, after all.
Robin's voice
Mr. Horse, never do this face again. Ever.
The scene where Zoro appears and saves a woman was very very confusing. The same with the scene where Tama is saved, and when Bonney crosses the threshold in Marijois. All of this for some plot convenience to hide people's faces. I think the necessity to keep the scene at a distance makes it confusing.

I know! Granted, I'm sure Zoro having food poisoning is going to hamper the fight against Hawkins, but god damn, even if it takes until the end of the year, the whole crew will FINALLY be all reunited, with Jinbei eventually coming, too!
LoL took me awhile to notice that Franky plays basket in Franky Tank mode.
Nothing better than cursed blades to fight against a fortune teller!
I wonder what Basil Hawkins' cards will tell him.

It's not just you. His nose looked like it kept changing size for me as well. Honestly kind of hope it becomes running gag.
Man that Robin ,the equestrian outfit looks great on her.
Cool chapter, the beginning kinda remind me of Jinbei reaffirming to Luffy that Ace died without sugar coating it.
Hug was quite cute and liked that Zoro had no problem with.
Nice mount you have there Hawkins.
The concealed women probably is someone from Kozuki clan or used to serve it i imagine.

Also, am I the only one thinking the Zoro reveal would have worked much better if we didn't saw him 3 chapters ago?
Not really. I guess it'd be funnier, but it still was anyhow. Also if you do it that way, we wouldn't have gotten that cool Zoro panel from earlier.
This is gonna be terribly paced, as always

I don't think it's safe to assume that, like at all. Especially regarding Bonney and Bege. Bonney in particular has her own shit to deal with. While Kuma is on her mind, she's clearly has another objective here.
I did not realize how happy I was to see Zoro and Luffy smile and be together like in volume 1 until I read this chapter. Great work, and things are moving along quickly. Even a brief fight with Hawkins will tell us a lot about curses and luck, and Hawkins' fruit. Plus, no one is around to spoil Luffy and Zoro's fun!
kaidou leaves wano to go kidnapping shirahoshi at the reverie once caribou spill the beans since the thing he wants the most is something to start the "biggest war the world has ever seen", and taking control of an ancestral weapon would be a pretty decisive step in this direction, much more than any of the weapons producted in wano are…leaving the shogun as the only "final boss" of the arc and moving the confrontation to another place when the strawhats give chase to protect shirahoshi and pretty much all the other princesses that they know are partecipating since nami read the newspaper to everyone a couple of chapters ago.
had this theory for a while, way before whole cake in fact, so I didn't really think what big mom role could be in the whole thing since the fact that she is going to wano too is a pretty new info and we don't know much about how she intends to move.
I thought something similar would happen, but since the Reverie began I shifted my thoughts to thinking perhaps King and Queen will kidnap Shirahoshi and take her to Wano instead. The Marines will follow, of course.
Perhaps Vivi gets tangled up in the mix as well, if she ends up joining the crew as a diplomat. Bonney could also come too if all the Supernova end up on Wano.

I agree. It would would give a nice what the hell did he do feeling and the randomness would only implify the greatness of the reunion.
It might have been fun to speculate about what Zoro did to become a nationally wanted criminal, but the subsequent flashback wouldn't be nearly as effective as what we got in 909, plus I like how we're getting buildup of the Straw Hats breaking Kin'emon's rules. That's gonna be a pretty big damn apology once they reunite. So I'd say it's a fair tradeoff.
Luffy - So, who you waiting for Tengu?
-I'm waiting for a man named Gol D Roger
-The pirate King??
-No, that's Gold Roger
-oh my…
also, I'm not completly sure I want Zoro to have Nidai, it looks too similar to the one he already has, if a Kunoichi werr to join, that probably be a good sword for her.
@Kaido:

I now want this to be a running gag, where each of the Straw Hats (At least the ones that came here with Zoro) each fuck up somehow and silently apologize to Kin'emon in their head.

He has to upgrade his sword, it's the only non-Meito sword he has left. Don't see the issue.
People don't seem to realize that there is probably at whole ton of rare swords in Wano

I'm saying it's safe because almost all of them are gathered in Wano right now. And at some point in the story, not too late, they'll have to do something all together.
At first they were supposed to be 3 supernovas against Kaido. It turned out that Drake was part of Kaido's crew. And very fortunately, Kaido just stumbled on Hawkins, Apoo, Kidd and Killer.
At this point, it's only a matter of time until the 3 others get involved in this arc

this.
Do zoro fanboys get an erection any time he he takes out fodder?
Not only that but also my acne clears up, my car starts working again and my depression is cured. But I can only talk for myself.
Something tells me this fight doesn’t happen. With hakins weird probability power he has to know the chance of him winning is <1%. I doubt he would even be able to beat Zoro by himself let alone with Luffy there too. Maybe Luffy will run off to find a doctor though while zoro cuts him up real quick
Very nice chapter once again. I knew luffy would be blunt but he was super blunt about that. It seems he has grown from the ordeal which is always nice to see. Interesting stuff about the sword and it's curse and all the details about how wano has been suffering. It was nice to see ace again and im curious if this fits with the canon of the novels since it appears it's after ace entered the new world but before he ran into jinbe near fishman island. But above all else it was really nice to see Zoro and Luffy alone together. Im not a shipper but it's been awhile since they got paired together and it's nostalgic to see after so damn long. Hawkins appearance at the end was nice and im hoping we see at least some of a fight.

Bonney is a little to busy.
But then again she's the chick so the least important one.
Any thoughts about the strange animals in Wano? I’m reffering to the Moose and Dog figurea that have some “flame” around them and appear a bit “mystical”. Could they be Kaidou crewmates on ehich the Slime didn’t work and they remained in Zoan for or something? Just a theory

.
yeh, there is probably a supreme grade sword out there, I mean Orochi isn't definitely around with a stick of wood.
plus, its really fishy to me that Luffy grabbed THAT sword first. sounds like choo choo, train to met with kunoichi new crewmate to me.
Little reminder that the only things they know about Hawkins are :
-he is part of the worst generation
-he defeated Brownbeard's crew and cut his legs
-he allied with Apoo and Hawkins

I think that Moose has a mane instead of a flame.

nah, I doubt that Zoro and Luffy would remember who he is though. And they never saw him. It doesn't make much sense to say "yep, that's him"
I mean, maybe it does a little bit because Zoro, unlike Luffy, reads the newspaper after all
Luffy saw him with Kid and Apo in the news paper. I think he is just trying to seize them up. Just making sure they got what it takes.

It would be fun if Luffy kept the sword, at least until half way through Wano or something. Maybe it will work on Kaido.

I'm gonna suppose he rembers him as the one who cut his friend leg. BUt I do agree that it is weird that he seems to have made such a vivid impression on Luffy and that him and Luffy seems to have some kind of understandiing of how important he is. I spent a good 10s tryingto see if there's some kind of impactful scene I forgot about him.
