I'm also pretty sure double jeopardy applies to impeachment proceedings so Democrats are by and large better off waiting for Mueller to nail Trump to the wall before taking their shots.

I'm also pretty sure double jeopardy applies to impeachment proceedings so Democrats are by and large better off waiting for Mueller to nail Trump to the wall before taking their shots.
If that's the case it 10000% makes sense to not push the matter this exact moment, when there could actually be a super strong case literally any day now. Either from Muller putting the big proof down or from full on camera dementia break down.
None of the republicans like him either and when the time comes they'll be glad to be rid of him too with any half reasonable excuse. But with dozens of super crazy huge things going on by the end of the month… no, it's just not time yet.
-
So Donald Trump is set to acknowledge Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel and move the embassy there. This can only go well
-
Don’t blame the election on fake news. Blame it on the media.
"In just six days, The New York Times ran as many cover stories about Hillary Clinton’s emails as they did about all policy issues combined in the 69 days leading up to the election."
-
Al Franken will resign which means a seat that would have been safe until 2020 is now a pretty good chance for a Republican pickup in 2018. Hillary only won the state by 1.5%.
The GOP will, of course, continue to use this as an example of how awful Democrats are while dealing with none of their own, far worse sexual predators.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
The media will, of course, go along with them in this.
-
Eh, I don't see Franken's seat as being particularly risky. Sure Hillary only won Minnesota by a narrow margin but it still went Democrat when most of the region flipped in 2016. Given how monumentally unpopular Trump and the Republicans are, I'd guess that the Democratic nominee wins pretty handily in 2018.
There are several (likely) closer Senate races the Democrats need to defend against. At the very least, if they fail to capture the Senate in 2018 it won't be just because of Minnesota.
-
Republicans can vote for Roy Moore with a clear conscience now that a Democrat has accepted consequences for something.
-
Headlines Dems want: "Democrats accept the consequences of sexual misconduct, while Republicans welcome child molester Moore"
Headlines Dems get: "Dems in disarray now attacking each other, GOP rallies behind Moore"
-
Another thing to keep in mind is that this establishes a clear precedent that Democratoc Senators will be expected to follow. So it's only a matter of time until we see this with one from a state with a Republican governor.
-
Jesus Christ.
-
Some are reporting that Minnesota's Governor is leaning towards appointing the Lt. Governor to fill Franken's seat while Dayton says that he's not made up his mind yet. She apparently has no interest in serving in Congress so that would make it an open seat.
Also:
National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day – “A day that will live in infamy!” December 7, 1941
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 7, 2017
-
Why was this even done now when, as I understand, even if Dems were united the impeachment would fail?
Would another impeachment effort look pathetic later on due to this failure? Or would it actually land damage to Trump if it happened a second time and failed again?

Dems again going for fair play and non-partisanship by appointing someone who won't run in 2018.

Kaine calls on Senate to publicly release sexual harassment claims
I don't know if this'll go anywhere, but I hope it does. I'm still hoping this train of sexual harassment claims doesn't end anytime soon, and especially with the Senate.
Also, it's Tim Kaine again! He seems like the type to have never harassed someone,or done anything fun. That's probably why he's asking for this.

That's weird I've lived in New York for the last 27 years and can't ever remember having to be driven to a bus stop under threat of potential violence.
-
I mean maybe something like Brentwood as of recent, but that's one of the most extreme examples in the last 50 or so years of Suffolk County of gang violence risks.
-
Earlier this year at a campaign event an audience member asked this senate candidate, 'When was the last time America was great?' The Senate candidate's response?
"I think it was great at the time when families were united—even though we had slavery—they cared for one another…Our families were strong, our country had a direction."
-Roy Moore
No surprise there. Luckily, this comment is resurfacing in a big way. Will it affect the race? Well, he is running in Alabama so that's a toss up.

As it would be coming from a moron who thinks marijuana and undocumented immigrants are more of a threat to the fabric of society than loose gun laws and trigger happy Americans.

Nah, it's mostly just irrelevant. Probably just trying to score some cheap points for later.

Wikileaks offered the Trump campaign access to the Podesta emails a month before releasing them.

Hope Hicks and Paul Manafort representin' the Connecticut clique of Trump's home turf tri-state slime army.
You cannot imagine how proud I am. -
The best part is because we know some folks have already flipped and filled them in, each and every one of these interviews is catching these folks in traps if they lie at all.
Even if they're not calling them on it today.

You cannot imagine how proud I am.See, I see this and I remember how Chris Christie threw his dignity away to get a job in an administration that never wanted him. At least those guys got on the sinking ship, what can we say about the guy who begged to jump on as he watched it sink? The man has been a disgrace to his state for years now.
On that note, I'm looking forward to forgetting him come January. I'm looking forward to forgetting a lot of things, frankly.

Well…I didn't know GE had a history with the Nazis, but I'm not surprised.
I'm left wondering, if we have another great depression, will anyone come around and fix it? Or rather, can we fix it? I only hope so.

If worse comes to pass?
We all gonna fix this together before a new war starts over the internet problems.

Well, FDR was a great help, but WWII also was a big part of kicking the American economy into high gear. Partly because Europe was paying through the nose for as much weapons/stock/material as our factories could make.

Ah, just wait for the second coming of FDR. Good. Got it. Great. :getlost:
I kid though, that's actually a fair assessment.
Semi-related, I recently found a video that's made me feel better about the Trump administration, and maybe it'll do the same for others. It's Robert Reich again:
!

Good. Glad to see there's somebody with some sense there.
Ah, just wait for the second coming of FDR. Good. Got it. Great. :getlost:
Oh, how I wish. If I lived in DC I'd be visiting the FDR memorial every week and praying before his statue to aid us in our time of need.

That has to go against some sort of anti-corruption law. He's endorsing a product! Prosecute the slimy bastard!

Hey, if I time things right that'll be my lunch break tomorrow. That's something to look forward to! Way to put a spotlight on bad behavior.
Also, good timing on this. Days before the Alabama election where Trump endorsed the molester, and then this happens. I don't know if you could plan it better.

Roy Moore believes that getting rid of the Amendments after the first 10 would "eliminate many problems", because of fucking course he does.
Prediction: Republican response will consist of "Yes but AL FRANKEN BILL CLINTON JFK FDR JOHN CONYERS"

That's eight and a half less than I would have expected him to hate.

hey, so im new to this forum. TBH i only joined because orojackson is down for a while.
anyways, is this a democrat-only thread? I just see the title as "no nazis allowed" and I dont really see any republican opinions on this thread.

The Bill of Rights According to Roy Moore
I - Only allows for expression of certain sects of Protestant Christianity
II - THE MOST IMPORTANT LAW OF THE LAND, GREAT TOTEM OF GLORY, MAY NOT BE TOUCHED BY MORTAL HANDS
III - Soldiers may be quartered in homes belonging to Muslims as a precaution
IV - Unreasonable search and seizure is not unreasonable if it's the search of a black person
V - Roy Moore is thankful that he is free not to incriminate himself even further when it comes to his molestation of little girls
VI - The right to a speedy and public trial in a courthouse built in the shape of the Ten Commandments
VII - Right to an all-white jury of peers
VIII - "Cruel and unusual" are hippie pinko buzzwords
IX - Right to molest little girls
X - There is no such thing as a federal government -
XI - The proper term is ephebophilia.

It's because Republican viewpoints are against the forum rules that require members to not be bigots and to show decent behaviour towards other members.

i really feel like not wanting nazis around should be a bipartisan issue but we've had two years to know that it's not

“No, I’m not, but I’m sick of the Left branding anyone who is even remotely right of centre a Nazi.”

I'm confused as to why someone would have issues with "no nazis allowed".

@Monkey:

Republicans are perfectly allowed in the thread. We have several. Some are mods and admins of the entire forum. I'm originally from Texas.
They are mostly republicans pre-Trump however and hate the current state of their party. and don't want to defend any of the stuff going on right now.
This thread also is filled with people from all over the world with no party affiliation at all.
Those that DO choose to speak up and defend bigotry, hating minorities, wanting poor people to suffer, generally don't present their case in a very civilized or convincing manner and usually end up breaking general forum rules in short order. Anyone that actually roots for murders, the KKK, or actual literal Nazis (organizations that call for genocide in general) are of course not met with open arms.
The "no nazis allowed" tag was added right after the Charlotesville Nazi riot as a bit of a humor tag, and will change eventually, but now it seems to service as a lightning rod that draws attention to the issue (that shouldn't be an issue at all) so that's a thing.
So basically, no anti-racial, anti-religion, pro-genocide, hate-speech viewpoints allowed, but thats basically the forum in genera;
But if you want to talk about
-the current GOP tax plan
-net neutrality
-gun control
-abortion rights
-education
-police brutality
-funding for hurricane victims
-children eating
-gay marriage
-global warming
-veteran's care
-minimum wage and equal pay for women
-headstart
-voter's rights
-seperation of church and state
-teaching evolution in schoolsor any other such topic, feel free. You'll get lots of discussion.

It's more that… are they SO closely related now that one just assumes they both mean the same thing?
Because that's pretty terrible if true.
