That is certainly possible. Especially since they both wear sunglasses.

Best part about Elbaf so far, is that what we've seen is probably nothing more than what Luffy's little fishing village was to the greater goa kingdom. The royal capital of the giants should be crazy. Mead and semlas strewn across the gender equal streets. Women with braids, runestones and all kinds of nerdily researched stuff. Maybe even some giant horses. My hype train is really catching some extra steam here. Like imagine when we get to see the elbaf elite warriors and they are berserkers hoped up on 'shrooms or something.
Hype hype hype! And a plate of semla on top.

It would be cool if all these characters match to some of the present time, however shouldn't they be about 70 years old as well? Do they look that old?
@Count:

Both have the same scar over the left eye, too.
Both have the same scar over the left eye, too.
Both scars are drawn differently. The kid has stitches like Luffy's cheek while Du Feld has a nasty looking scar like Luffy's chest. And the kid's scar goes into the right eye while Du Feld's aims more towards the left.
Very good chapter! I particularly loved the kids', hoping we'll see them again here and there. And both Mountainbeard and Waterfallbeard… I don't know it I like these epithets or their design more.
Anyone pointed out young Hajrudin?
Also dont know how Mangastream got Lamb out of 羊の家 , if it was lamb house the Japanese would look like 子羊の家。
Sheep is probably most likely reffering to gods people, very common term.
I thought it was more of a play on the term "lost sheep"
but Carmel looking like a nun does fit the "Gods flock of sheep" as well. IDK either way or both really fit.
Loki is much younger than I would expect.
Linlin destruction of Elbaf at 5 is the kind of thing that reminds why I am so dubious about the usefuleness of the giants as the ultimate weapon to break the deadlock.
Wait a minute. Cavendish is a prince. And that was back when he was a kid. Wouldn't this mean that he might have gotten invited to the Reverie like Don Sai?
EDIT: I would assume no since he's a pirate sailing on the seas now and he's probably abandoned his kingdom. But it's still interesting.
Good chapter, great seeing Elbaf and all those giant characters.

He is wanted by the world government so I truly doubt it.

I figured. They are willing to make exceptions for the Vinsmokes and Doflamingo, but those were for various status/plot reasons while Cavendish has no reason to be regarded with such immunity.

Doffly was not wanted anymore(Warlord) and the Vinsmokes are not wanted either(they even have great relations).

That's what I mean by "various status/plot reasos".
Awesome chapter. Love seeing all the giants in the series so far! Especially child Hajrudin!
Review is out!
I loved that while Oda is not hyping that much Big Mom strength in chapters happening in current time he did great job with LinLin as kid.
She one-shotted bear killing it instantly as 5 years old.. and then she rampaged through village of gigants beating and killing plenty of them - still as a child.
If Luffy gets to clash with her or block her attack or get some real havy punch into the guts it will be hype as hell given that she is at least few(if not dozen) times stronger than she was.
Great build up for whats yet to come and at same time this chapter shown clearly that Nature of Big Mom is to be doing whatever she pleases without thinking much about what it does to people.
And she was not retarded or anything- she was extremely young and absurdly strong - Carmel should have had teached her differently instead of loving her how she was, Carmel almost embraced LinLin in her ways as she did not scold her once as we seen.. even when Gigants village got destroyed.
Her face is so creepy…
Well it's logic that Caramel die protecting Linlin from the giant attack. That's why she hates giants!
I am thinking.
1. Lin Lin killed the hero of Giants so she is hated for it
2. Her dream is the same dream as that of Caramel
3. Her sons and daughters are not genetically connected to Lin Lin but just the same orphan stuff as with sister Caramel
4. The reason she does what she does with people leaving is because of what happened to her…her Dad, mom leaving her...
5. Loki is probably sadly just another twisted bastard and Lola didnt want to marry with him because of it
5. Loki is probably sadly just another twisted bastard and Lola didnt want to marry with him because of it
Or because his penis is larger than her.
And Mama, she gets to tend to the rabbits.
I am thinking.
1. Lin Lin killed the hero of Giants so she is hated for it
I'm hesitant to think that's possible because of how Elbaf was willing to have Loki be engaged with Lola years later.
So, if I get it right, BM is a woman with the mind of a child. She is not ill intended, but she has no real notion of what is wrong and how cruel her actions are. Carmel was sensible enough to tell from the start BM always had good intentions behind her apparently cruel actions, but that kept her from teaching BM what is wrong to do (she didn't learn that it wasn't right to rip parts of a person's body, but that since that person was supposed to be that way then there was no reason to do it).
She is not bad, she is just someone who never developed a sense of morality so she can do all the wrong things because she doesn't even perceive them as such. She is like Goku, or maybe a hint of what Luffy can become.
Well it's logic that Caramel die protecting Linlin from the giant attack. That's why she hates giants!
Not necessarily. She tried setting up Lola to marry Loki
Not necessarily. She tried setting up Lola to marry Loki
That depends on if she even remembers the giants killing Mother Carmel. Since Linlin claims that Mother Carmel "went missing".
Hajrudin and Big Mom were childhood friends. That's insane to hear.
And Luffy one shotted Hajrudin too. So, really, the giants aren't really that formidable

I don't really think somebody as powerful post-timeskip Luffy one-shotting Hajrudin is exactly to use as confirmation that giants aren't really formidable. That would go for something more along the lines of, I don't know, this:

I wouldn't exactly say them were close enough to ve called friends.

Luffy did a Gum-Gum Shit on Hajrudin? Must've been after he punched him square in the face and dropped one big pile on him off-panel. Ew.:ninja:
This chapter goes to show how much people like to exaggerate and/or deliberately misinterpret. Like wolfwood mentioned above, Linlin destroyed some little village that probably is PART OF Elbaf and not, like many people seem to imply in this thread, the entirety of Elbaf. And yes, she was able to do so at the age of 5, deal with it. Overall, I liked the atmosphere and visuals of the flashback and it really makes me want to fast-forward time to the Elbaf arc :)

…It is not my fault that "i" is placed right next to "o" on English computer keyboards.
And that may as well have been what happened.
was that little girl the first giantess we've seen that isn't non-canon

Didn't we see a giantess vice admiral at Marineford?

@uniaka:
I don't see why BM was sure elbaf will help her beat others yonkous when at 5 she wrecked at least some of elbaf just like that.
I'm not sure she does. Note the parallels between how little Linlin felt being in a place actually sized for her and her desire to have her family at her own eye level. I think she just wants back in with elbaph. That or her adult ambitions have supplanted and/or mixed with her childhood dream.
That said, she was hardly fighting their army single handed. Just a village with a free warriors and s couple of old soldiers by the look of it
Maybe she killed all children of elbaf and just wants to bring them a new giant generation of children to raise so she thinks she will be forgiven and come back home
@The:

He used gear number 2. Dropped him like a brick.
I also doubt Big Mom did any lasting damage, aside from damage to real estate. Otherwise any kind of alliance in the future would be questionable from Elbaf side.
Unless Loki is some kind of eccentric (for Elbaf standards anyway), and decided to disregard the past because he was so smitten with Lola.

Whom may not have even been trying to fight a child seriously. Instead they might have been trying to help/stop/restrain her, only to fall unexpectedly to her brute strength.
I wonder if any of the kids inherited that quirk of hers.
Why is it so easy to aknowledge for you? a 5 years old girl that's 5 meters tall, that casually murders giants and accidentally spanks bears to death?
I'm not worked up. I'm humorous.
I think you're overrating these giants. They aren't dorry or broggy. She went crazy and beat up a village of people who were suspecting it with her mindless strength.
There is something weird, though. Even other huge humans like Doflamingo only become huge when they get to their current status as if their size is merely to signify their relevance. Linlin is shown as ridiculously big since she was a kid, also her abnormal size is acknowledged by other characters and the story itself. There IS something weird in there.
And it can't be a coincidence she is a gigantic human child that can enter into a berserk state when she gets too long without eating. Replace eating with a certain drug and you have exactly the kids at Punk Hazard… that became like that as a result of Caesar gigantification studies... ordered by Linlin.
And of course her strength IS abnormal, that is also acknowledged by the other characters, there is nowhere to run. We are talking about a 5yo untrained girl who was exiled from her country because she caused mass destruction, did the same now, broke many bones of a giant accidentally by simply trying to kill a mosquito. Among the defeated giants we can even see a drawn sword, so at least some of them tried to fight back. There is no way around it, she IS absurdly strong for her age and background even if she is not an admiral level baby. And don't be surprised if next week she shits on the oldest giant warrior alive who is also a former captain of Elbaf's most famous pirate crew.
@Kaido:
Linlin's Dad: "Well, good thing we're rid of her. Though I'm still not sure how we could have given birth to someone that large"
Linlin's Mom: "Yeah, forever a mystery" throws picture of Saul into the ocean
wahahaha, ooh god xD genuinely fun.

@Count:
In contrast, Beethoven composed his first music piece when he was twelve and published his first symphony when he was thirty.
Mozart was not a normal child. He did not accomplish his feats solely because of hard work, he was gifted. Exponentially. Prodigies and advanced physical/mental abnormalities at birth do exist. In a series like this, Big Mom being born huge isn't that surprising. Especially when Moria and Shirahoshi exist.
((throws Vivaldi into discussion)), I mean, The Four Seasons is a master piece among master pieces:ninja:
Didn't we see a giantess vice admiral at Marineford?
Knowing Oda that might just be the same giantess as a kid.
@Count:
That depends on if she even remembers the giants killing Mother Carmel. Since Linlin claims that Mother Carmel "went missing".
I think he means Big Mom does not hate giants because of Carmel's death since she was quite invested in the marriage.

Hajrudin and Big Mom were childhood friends. That's insane to hear.
They didn't interract or anything that would point at them being friends. They know each other but that's about it.
San Juan Wolf seems to be the same type or similar as Wadatsumi, the real mysteries are Saulo and the Cool brothers from PH.
the mystery of the yeti cool brothers is why they existed
Didn't we see a giantess vice admiral at Marineford?
There was a woman in the giant squad. I don't think it was said that any of them were vice admiral.
So, Linlin "inherited" Mother Carmel's ambition and twisted it in the grotesque travesty that is now Totland. She herself looks like a twisted version of Mother Carmel, especially for how she "educates" her children.

It don't know how long this flashback is gonna last but it seems things are going pretty fast. Oda fastened the pacing oh his flashbacks lately, this one might end in 2 chapters tbh
@Game:
the mystery of the yeti cool brothers is why they existed
lol exactly. this might be to hype Law though, but since they pretty much vanished after that, I'll just assume it was some ass-pulled writing to–-- hype Law's character. So yeah, all of that just to see Law one-shooting them.
San Juan Wolf seems to be the same type or similar as Wadatsumi, the real mysteries are Saulo and the Cool brothers from PH.
Saul and those other giant marines might have been descendants of giants that left Elbaf centuries ago. Even Minks, one of the most secluded races, had some members scattered here and there.
Lord knows what the hell Cool brothers are.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that they are exactly what it says on the label.

I dunno. Did anyone actually think they were cool?
They're a member of a race of ice giants that have a historic enmity with the giants of Elbaf of course. The main villains of Elbaf will be the Yeti Cool Clan.
